The New Daughter of the Family. (Sequel to An Angel's Voice.), chapter 24

Sara and Londen waited backstage for the band members to show up.
"Oh my fucking GOD!! I am SO EXCITED!!" Londen shouted. Sara nodded. She suddenly felt like going home. She needed to talk to someone. Her dad, mostly. She leaned up against the wall and slid down until she hit the ground. "What's wrong with you? We're meeting TRAIN!! The best band EVER! And you're not excited like me." Londen shouted, throwing her hands up. Then she slid down beside her. "I don't get you."
"Sorry if I'm ruining your night." She said. "Can I use your cell phone for a sec?" Londen nodded and dug through her pocket for her cell phone. She handed it to Sara, who stood up and dialed home.

-Billie's POV-
Ring, Ring, Ring! Who the fuck is calling at 12:30? I grunted and rolled out of bed with a thud. Ow. Ok, I'm up. Gah.
"Yeah?" I answered, somewhat annoyed.
"Hi. Did I wake you?" Sara asked quietly on the other side.
"Oh, hi, honey. No, I was up." I lied. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just needed to talk." Talk? About what? Oh, that's right.
"The song. I saw you singing, you sounded great." I heard her laugh softly.
"Yeah. That's what I wanted to talk to you about." I rubbed my eyes tiredly. This was going to be a looong night.
"Listen, hun, I know that Peter-"
"Yeah. I couldn't stop thinking about him. I don't get it. I was so excited to meet them. I knew- well, hoped- that they would play that song. But now.... I don't know. It's a confusing feeling."
"A feeling that hurts." I said. I plopped down onto the floor. "Where you can't help but remember everything that happened. Where...." I looked at the floor. "You feel the pain all over again."
"Yeah." She whispered. "Dad?"
"Hm?"
"I just want to come home."
"Ok. I'll be there in about an hour."
"Thanks."
"No problem." She hung up. I just dropped the phone and pulled my legs up to my chest. "I hate that feeling." I whispered, tears dripping from my face.
-End of POV-

"You ok?" Londen asked. Sara looked at her and nodded.
"Fine." A woman came out of a white door. She looked at Sara and Londen.
"I need to see your passes." She said dully. They handed her the passes. She nodded and led them through the door.
"We can't stay long." Sara said to Londen. She nodded. The woman motioned for them to sit, which they did.
"They'll be here momentarily." She said, briskly walking out of the room. Londen looked over at Sara.
"You just know how to suck the fun out of everything." She said, giving her a playful punch in the arm. Sara smiled.
"Sorry." She said.
"I was kidding. It's fine." Londen chuckled. She looked at the floor and smiled.
"What?" Sara asked, noticing Londen smiling at the floor. Londen looked up at her.
"Remember our song?" Sara sat back.
"Oh, god, Londen. Not here." She said, laughing.
"You know you want to sing it."
"No, actually, I don't."
"We sang it when John broke up with you. Remember?"
"Londen, don't."
"You live... In a house of mirrors..." She started singing. "Come one, Sara, you know you want to." Sara smiled. "Reflecting... Your splendid Isolation."
"You have... So much of everything." They softly sang together. "Except for... True consideration." They started laughing and singing louder. "The way you dance, the way you walk, the way you drive, the way you talk. The way you eat, the way you drink. The way you act. They way you don't think, it's like there's nobody else in the world but you. Nobody else in the world...." Londen and Sara collapsed laughing.
"Bravo." A voice said, clapping thier hands. Sara and Londen stopped laughing and looked up. "Hi, there." Londen jumped up.
"Oh, hi. Uh, we were just... enjoying ourselves." She said with a nervous laugh. She bent over and hoisted Sara up off the ground.
"Well, you probably already know me." The singer said. "So, no intro there."
"Well, I'm Londen." She said, shaking his hand. "And this is-"
"Sara." He said, smiling. "We met." Sara nodded.
"Hi."
"Great job, by the way." He said with a wink.
"Thanks." She said, smiling.
"Mr. Monahan." The woman came into the room.
"Yes?" The singer said.
"There's a Mr. Armstrong here, he says he needs to pick someone up."
"Oh, that's my dad." Sara said. The woman looked at her blankly and shrugged. She turned.
"Come on in, sir." She called. Billie nodded politely and walked into the room.
"Hi." He said. "Sorry to interrupt, but..."
"No, no interruption." The singer said. He held out his hand. "Hi, I'm Pat Monahan." Billie smiled and gladly took it.
"Billie Joe Armstrong." Pat snapped his fingers.
"I knew you looked familiar." He looked at Sara. "I didn't know he had a daughter."
"Adopted." She said. He nodded.
"I see. Well, Sara, if you don't mind, I'd like to speak with your dad alone." Sara nodded, looking slightly confused.
"Ok, come on, Londen." They walked out of the room. Pat looked at Billie.
"Sit, please, sir." He said politely. Billie nodded and sat on the couch. Pat sat in the chair opposite. "I know this may seem wierd.... But I noticed her... crying as she was onstage with me tonight."
"Oh, yeah..." Billie said.
"I hope I didn't do anything to-"
"Oh, no." Billie said, chuckling. "No, it wasn't you. It was the song."
"She doesn't like it?" Billie smiled warmly.
"It's her favorite. It means alot to her." He sighed. "Her cousin, Peter, died last winter in a car accident. And, the song was kind of their song. You know what I'm saying?" Pat sat back and nodded.
"It makes sense now."
"Yeah. She is a big fan of your work."
"Well, I'm glad she likes it." He said, smiling. Billie looked at his watch. "It is getting late." Pat said. Billie nodded and stood up.
"Pleasure to meet you, Pat." Billie said, shaking his hand.
"You, too. Say goodnight to Sara for me." He said, smiling.
"Will do." Billie said his last goodbyes and walked out of the room. Sara stood up.
"What did he say?" Billie smiled.
"Not much. Let's go home."
