The New Daughter of the Family. (Sequel to An Angel's Voice.), chapter 26
"Well," Billie huffed, getting in the car. "that wasn't exactly how I wanted to start our day." Sara just nodded and looked out the window. "Aw, come on. Don't let that guy ruin our day." She looked up at him.
"I just wanna go home," she said quietly. Billie hesitated.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah," he shrugged.
"Ok, then."
-Billie's POV-
Ouch, that hurt. I really wanted today to be perfect. Oh, well, I guess we can try again next weekend. Poor kid... well, maybe we can do something at home as a family, like play a game or something. I dunno. I guess raising an eighteen year old is harder than I thought. And it's not just her, I have to do this with Joey and Jakob, too. Talk about your wake up call. Whew. I looked over at my daughter. She was pulling her sleeves down past her wrists. Why is she wearing a long sleeved shirt? It's California for God's sake. Ah, who cares?
"Dad?" I ignored all of the thoughts whirrling around my head and looked at her.
"Yes?"
"I didn't mean to ruin our day. I just-"
"It's ok, honey. Really," I said with a little chuckle. She sighed and sat back on her seat, staring out the window. God, this sucks. I really wanted to have a good day with my daughter. I'm not saying she ruined it, of course not. Well, she did let that guy off.... NO! Gah, Billie! Why are you turning against your own daughter!? What's wrong with you!? I slapped my palm against my forehead stressfully. Sara gave me a quizzical look.
"Is everything... ok, dad?" I looked at her and smiled.
"Yeah... I'm fine." Oh, nice move, geinus. Slapping yourself for no reason. Your daughter probably thinks you're insane. I think I am going insane.
-End of POV-
"Ok, we're home. Just like you wanted," Billie said with a sigh. Sara got out and walked inside. Billie stayed in the car, staring at the closed garage door.
"Well, that was fun," he said to himself before going in and closing the door behind him.
-Next day-
"Come on! Everyone up! Let's GO!" Billie walked through the hallway, trying to get his kids up for school. "Don't got all day! Let's move it, troops!"
"Shut UP, dad!" Sara shouted from her room. Billie froze and turned on his heels. He strode into her room. He walked over to her bed and put his face close to her sleeping one.
"I said up.... NOW!" He shouted. She jumped up, clutching her heart.
"Fuck! Dad, go away!" She slammed her head back on the pillow and pulled the covers up over her head.
"Don't make me get Tre in here," he warned.
"Maite. I'maupa," She muffled under the covers.
"What's that?" Billie asked, cupping his ear with his hand. She threw the covers off her head.
"I said ALRIGHT, I'M UP!" She shouted. Billie smiled smuggly.
"Good." He walked out of her room, proud of his acomplishment.
