The New Daughter of the Family. (Sequel to An Angel's Voice.), chapter 9
"Dad." Joey came outside. "Gerard's here." Gerard came outside, smiling.
"Hey! Gerard!" He got out of the pool and shook hands with him.
"Hey, BJ. Sorry, it was such short notice, but-"
"It's ok, dude." Frank and Mikey came outside.
"Hey guys!" they shouted together.
"Hey!" everyone shouted.
"There's someone I want you to meet, guys," Billie said, motioning for Sara to get out of the pool. She walked out and stood by her dad's side. "This is Sara." She smiled and shook hands with the three guys.
"Oh, yeah. This is your daughter," Gerard said.
"Sadly," Sara said, smirking at Billie.
"Haha," Billie said sarcastically. Joey came back outside.
"Sara. Phone." She ran inside and grabbed the phone. She came back outside.
"Dad, can I go to the mall with my friends?"
"What friends?" Billie said with a smirk.
"Haha. Just because you said that, I'm going to go and take your car." She made her way back inside.
"Take Bruce with you," Billie said.
"No," Sara said, turning and sticking her tounge out at him.
"Fine. Then you're staying here."
"No. I'll take Tre with me."
"I don't trust Tre with your life, dear."
"That was rather on the mean side, wouldn't you say?"
"It's the truth. Take Bruce or you're not going." Gerard looked at Billie.
"I'll take her," he said. Sara smiled at him.
"Yeah. He'll take me," Billie sighed.
"Yeah, I guess it's ok. Go ahead, have fun." Sara ran into the house to change and Gerard followed.
"You have a nice room," he said, looking around. Sara put on a shirt over her bikini.
"I know, it's huge."
"Yeah, it is." She put on some shorts and tied her hair up. She put on her converse and stood up. Gerard looked at her feet. "You're definitley your dad's daughter." She smiled.
"I know. These are the only shoes he buys me." He laughed and they walked out the door.
-At the Mall-
"There they are," Sara said. She took Gerard's hand and led him over to her friends. She tripped, causing her to fall.
"Woah," he said, catching her by the waist. "Gotcha," he smiled down at her.
"Thanks," she said, blushing. He helped her up and led her into the store.
"Hey Sara," all of her friends said in unison.
"Hey guys, what're we shopping for?"
"Oh, we're not shopping," her friend Amanda said, with a grin.
"Yeah," her other freind Kris said. "We're gonna go find some preps and freak 'em out." She took out her eyeliner and loaded it on Sara. She stepped back to admire her work. She smiled. "Very freaky." Gerard looked at her and smiled.
"I think she needs a little more." He grabbed it from her and put some more under her eyes. "There." She smiled and looked around.
"Perfect." She spotted Maria.
"Nice," Kris said. She turned to Gerard. "That's Maria, the school's bitchy prep." Sara walked over to Maria and tapped her on the shoulder.
"Hey," she said, Maria turned, her eyes widened. Gerard and the girls laughed, watching her. "Where you headed?"
"Like, do I know you?" Maria said in a bitchy way.
"The name's Sara. Sara Armstrong." Her eyes widened even more.
"Like, THE Sara Armstrong? Like Billie Joe's daughter?"
"Oh, shit," Sara whispered. "Uh, no. I'm-"
"Like OMG! Can I come over to your house!? I like, love Green Bay!"
"What?" Sara said, looking confused.
"Green Bay! Your dad's band!"
"Oh, you mean Green DAY."
"Whatever. I think your dad is SO hott!" Sara tried to make a run towards Gerard, but Maria grabbed her by the arm. Just then, a huge man took Maria's arm.
"Don't," he boomed. Bruce.
"Bruce!?" Sara said disbelievingly. "My dad told you to follow me, didn't he?"
"And I'm glad he did," Bruce thundered.
"That son of a bitch." She walked over to Gerard and grabbed his hand. "Sorry girls, we gotta cut this short," she said through gritted teeth. She led Gerard out of the mall and into the parking lot.
-Back at home-
"DAD!" Sara said, charging through the door. Gerard followed. Billie saw her and smiled.
"Hi, honey. Did you- What are you wearing?" he asked, noticing her massive amount of eyeliner.
"Cut the shit, dad. Why'd you send Bruce after me?"
"Hey, don't talk to me like that, I'm your father and-"
"I asked you a question, father."
"Well, I was...." he sighed, "I was worried about you."
"Dad, I'm eighteen. And Gerard was with me. Don't you trust him?"
"Of course I do, baby, but I just wanted to make sure."
"Whatever. Well, I hope you're happy, because Bruce ruined the whole thing." She stormed upstairs.
"I'd better go talk to her," Billie said.
"No, maybe I should," Gerard said. Billie nodded and Gerard ran up the stairs. He went into Sara's room where she was laying on the bed, looking at the ceiling. "Hey," he said. She turned to face him.
"Hi."
"You ok?" She sat up.
"Why does he still treat me like a kid?" Gerard sat down beside her.
"Well, he loves you. And doesn't want anything to happen to you."
"Yeah, I get that part. But, he never does anything like this to Joey or Jakob."
"Yes, but you're a teenager. And he knows that Joey and Jakob aren't old enough to go to the mall with their friends, or anything you get to do. And he's just worried." She laid back down.
"I guess you're right." She closed her eyes. "I'm very tired. And I'm sure dad is, too. Looking after me can be a big challenge." Gerard laughed.
"He's lucky. To have a daughter like you, I mean." She smiled.
"I guess I never thought of it that way," she said quietly. "Well, he's lucky to have a friend like you." Her words became softer and softer until she finally fell asleep. Gerard laid down beside her. He put his arm around her waist and threw it off again.
"Do I dare?" he asked himself. He looked at her sleeping. She's so beautiful, he thougt. "Yeah, I do." He replaced his arm around her and fell asleep.
-Morning-
"What the fuck is this?!" Billie shouted, punching Gerard's arm. He woke with a start.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!" Billie threw something in his lap. A magazine. "What's this?"
"Read it, dipshit," Billie snapped. He looked at the front cover. It was a picture of him and Sara at the mall. When Sara tripped and he caught her. He read the caption:
"Green Day's own Billie Joe Armstrong adopted Sara O'Connor. A girl from Minnesota. Pictured here with Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance, a good friend of Billie Joe. The two came in the hand in hand when Gerard swept her off of her feet and met her with a passionate kiss. My, my. What would daddy say, Sara?"
Gerard just stared at it.
"Shit," he said.
"Shit is damn right."
"Hey! Gerard!" He got out of the pool and shook hands with him.
