Bullet in a Bible? Bullet in my heart more like, chapter 1
"Honey, when are you coming home?"
"Soon, I promise."
"You better be! It's been over a month since I saw you. I hate being stuck here in California without you."
"I miss you too. How're the kids?"
"Fine, Jakie misses you loads. He's been playin all your songs over and over."
"Put him on the phone."
"Okay, hold on." I called Joey and Jakob and Jakob took the phone from me.
"Dad!"
Jakob's P.O.V
"Heya Jake. How are things? Are you looking after mom like I asked?"
"Uh huh. And Joey has."
"Good."
"What's the crowd like dad?"
"Big. And wild. You'd love it. Miss you all."
"I miss you too daddy."
"I'll be back soon. And uncle Tre and Mike will too."
"Good. Joey wants to speak."
"Alright then. Love you."
"Bye, love you too dad."
Joey's P.O.V
"Dad?"
"How's Adie? Has she had another . .?"
"Yeah, last night. I was really scared dad."
"She's fine now though?"
"I think so. It was so unexpected though. One minute she's in the kitchen and the next she's collapsed. Jakob was asleep but I had to call 911."
"Oh hell."
"They said it's not stress or anything like that. It's more anxiety."
"Are you sure she's okay now though? She has that card thing?"
"Yeah, definitely."
"Make sure she keeps it."
"I will."
"Joe, I gotta go, put your mom on the phone quick." I passed the phone to my mom. She wasn't looking so good these days. Pale skin, tired eyes. All because of one stupid tour. Sure, it wasn't her fault she collapses but, she misses dad so much. He's been gone ages.
Adie's P.O.V
"Babe, I gotta go, but I love you and I always will."
"I love you too Billie. See you soon. I hope."
"Yah. Bye. send love to the kids."
"I will, bye." Billie hung up then and I sighed, putting the receiver down.
"Mom, are you okay? I mean, last night must have been the worst yet."
"I'm fine, there's nothing wrong with me. Haven't you got some schoolwork or something?"
"I get the hint." Joey slouched out and I sat on the couch. Where was Billie? Surely 1 tour wouldn't take a whole month. What the hell was going on? Jakob stomped back downstairs.
"Mom, Ben's gonna be coming soon. Will you help me pack the rest of my stuff?"
"Yeah, okay then." I went with Jakob into his room. The tidy, clean room. Joey came in.
"Mom, Joey's taken my book."
"Have not!"
"Have. Come and look mom." he dragged me into his black, messed up room.
Two boys, so different. Yet each like Billie Joe. I guess Jakob was more like me than Joey was. I avoided a load of junk on the floor and he pointed to what used to be his desk. It was now a homing place for rubbish and clothes.
"It was right here." I noticed a red page sticking out of the bottom of a mountain of cd's.
"It's here. Go and apologise to your brother."
"Fine." he sighed and stormed back to Joey.
"Sorry." he left and I picked up a load of clothes for Jakob.
"Mom, what's France like?"
"Um, well, there's a lot of mountains as well as beaches. They have quite nice food. Just watch out for the frog's legs and snails." Jake stuck his tongue out in repulsion which made me laugh.
"I'm just going to sit down. I feel a bit drained."
"But you've only been standing up for 2 minutes."
"I'm just tired."
"Okay." he shoved the rest of his things in his bag and the doorbell went.
"Come on then! France, here you come." I smiled and opened the door. Suzie was there with her little kid Ben.
"Hiya. Everything ready?"
"Yeah. Thanks for taking him for me."
"It's no trouble."
"I'll see you next month then. Here's your passport. Keep that safe." Jakie nodded and hugged me. I kissed him and watched as he got in the car. I waved and Jakob waved back. 2 gone. One left. Great.
"Mom," I jumped at the sound of Joey's voice.
"Mom, can I go over to Sammi's for a night? He's having a house party."
"I-I guess so. But, what about last night?"
"I forgot. Great, I can't go. I can't go to anything. I have to stay here and babysit YOU." he yelled at me.
"Go then." I said and walked off to my bedroom. I locked the door and sobbed quietly. Joey was right. I was just a let down. He couldn't do anything. I was just in the way. Me and my stupid seizures. There was a knock at the door.
"I'm sorry mom. I didn't mean to shout."
"Joey, you go to this party. I'll be fine. I can last one night. I want you to go."
"It's okay, I don't have to."
"Look, you go to the party. My parents never let me do anything and I want to give you some freedom."
"If you're sure?"
"Yeah," I replied.
"Thanks! I'll be home in the morning."
"Bye."
"Bye mom." A few minutes later, I heard the door shut. I was here by myself. A loner. No Billie, no Jakob, no Joey. Just me. Alone.
"Soon, I promise."
