Our Hearts Are Kept in Wicker Baskets and Porcelain Jars, chapter 6

Billie's eyes sprang open as he threw off the covers.

"W-WHAT!?"

"Bill... I-I-I woke up just now, and then I was bleeding."

"Well... uhm... are you sure its not... " Billie looked around the room nervously.

"YES. I am very sure. You think I'd know! Just, COME ON! WE HAVE TO GET TO THE HOSPITAL... " Billie started moving over to the closet slowly.

"NOW!"

"Okay, sorry, I'm just tired.... Jesus Christ Adrienne."

I glared at him.

On the way to the hospital, I was really nervous, but Billie on the other hand was surprisingly calm.

"Billie, do you realize we may be losing this baby?!"

"Adrienne, Adrienne, Adrienne... just... just trust me, okay? The fucking baby is fine!"

"SHE may not be fine... " God, Billie was being such an ass.

Billie looked at me, and continued driving. He sped up the car, and within five minutes, we arrived at the emergency room parking lot.

I got out of the car, and we headed inside.

"Yes, what seems to be the problem?" The secretary at the desk in the waiting room inquired.

"I-I think I'm having a miscarriage... "

"Oh! Ok, then come on back, right this way."

The woman stood up and showed us to the back, where all the action was. In one room, a heart monitor was rapidly beeping, and doctors were rushing into that room. In another, a sickly, bony child was having some sort of medication injected into his arm. I hope nothings wrong...

"Ok, settle down, the doctor will be with you in a matter of moments. Oh, and... "

She looked at Billie and me expectantly.

"Oh, I'm Adrienne, and this is my husband Billie Joe. Last name is Armstrong."

The woman smiled, "Okay, Adrienne, would you mind putting this on?" She grabbed a gown from one of the drawers and handed it to me, along with a blue hospital band.

She exited the room, and I changed into the paper 'outfit'. I sat up on the gurney, and folded my arms. I could sense Billie watching me.
I bet he doesn't even want this baby...

A couple minutes later, a man, around 6 feet tall, entered the room.

"Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong?"

We looked up at the man.

"Hi, I am Dr. Mitchell. The nurse said you had a suspicion that you were having a miscarriage?"

I nodded.

"Well, if you would follow me... " He motioned for me to follow him out the door, "Then I believe we should do some X-rays."

We exited the room, which Billie decided to stay in.

***

Adie is so over-reacting. There's no way in hell that the babies dead, I mean, its too far along... isn't it?

***

A few hours later, after tons of silent, tedious waiting, the doctor finally came in to tell us that there was not, in fact, a miscarriage, though there was something else.
