Why Is Life So Hard, Lizzy?, chapter 1
"Hey mom, remember this picture?" I asked my mom, Adrienne.
She came over and took a look at the picture I was about to lay down into my photo album. It was of me and Frankito. My first love.
My name's Elizabeth Anne Armstrong. But everyone calls me Lizzy or Liz. Call me whichever. I have 2 brothers, the oldest is Joseph (Joey) Marciano Armstrong (15), and Jakob Danger Armstrong (13), and my dad is none other than Billie Joe Armstrong, the lead singer of Green Day, with his band mates Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt.
I don't have any pictures of me until I was 9 years. My parents didn't want me. Sure, I think about it now and then, but mostly I don't really think about it. I am much happier here with my family. There amazing people and I love them.
Frankito and me were inseperable. We spent hours talking on the phone, hanging by my pool and going to movies. We were in love. Well, like I said, we....were.
Frankito was my best friend, my love, and my life.
"Oh...Yes, I remember it." is all my mom could muster before turning back to the dishes at our kitchen sink. We never really spoke of Frankito. There was a reason why, too.
Ever since I was 7 years old, it was just me. My parents just left me one day. They stopped to see that big dinosaur out in California, next thing, there gone. I remember them enough to know that I never wanted to see them again. So, I set off.
Here I was, doing odd jobs here and there, just so I could get a bit to eat. I was 9 years old when I finally got my first guitar. I had saved a bit of money from everytime I got some money. I had heard of this band called Green Day. They were...how do you say it...AMAZING!!! They had just came out with WARNING:. Deadbeat Holiday was my favorite song, so I learned to play that.
Slowly and slowly, I got better. My guitar was the only thing I had to my name, my best friend...everything. It was just me and 'Starry Night'. <---Name of my guitar.
I was uptown Oakland, California one day, playing guitar for money, near a Starbucks Coffee shop, when my life changed forever.
I was playing "Good Riddance (time of your life), when 3 men, that seemed familiar too me, went walking by me. They kept walking, that is, until they heard me sing "It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right, I hope you had the time of your life." The blonde headed guy stopped and returned to my very spot. I finished my song and began to play my finale...MINORITY!!! I played all the way through that, and the 3 men just continued to stand there and whisper to each other.
I played the last frets and started packing up. "E...Excuse me miss, can I talk too you?" spoke the blonde headed guy.
"Uhm...Sure."
We went into Starbucks Coffee, and ordered.
I hadn't really made much of a profit today from playing guitar.
I just waited until they were done. We sat down at a table and the blonde headed guy introduced himself.
While stretching out his hand he said...
"I'm...."
