Falling For The Shoulder You Lean On, chapter 6

(Four Days Later)
Seri's POV

Yes, this week is finally over and Tre and I's trip to Tokyo is today. I still cannot believe he has done something like this. I told Liam about it and he let me go. He has not said much since the fight we had. He has not even apologized. I am upstairs packing my things. Tre just called and said he was on his way to pick me up. I finished packing up all of my clothes and I walked downstairs. Their was a knock at the door and I knew it was Tre.

"Come in, Tre!"

He opened the door and waved.

"Hey, Liam. Seri, ready to go?"

"Yeah, just grabbing my luggage."

"Don't worry. I'll get it."

He ran over and grabbed my bags as if they weighed nothing. I walked over to Liam and kissed him. He did not kiss back. It was as if I was not even there.

"Well, I'm going now."

"Yeah, bye."

"Bye."

Tre looked at Liam and looked back at me. He gave me that 'you do not deserve this' look. I walked outside and climbed into the passengers seat of his SUV. We drove off towards the airport.

"So, time for fun happy time in Tokyo."

"Yeah," I said with no emotion.

"Seri, what's wrong? You've been dying to go to Tokyo."

"Nothing."

"Liam again?"

"He hasn't apologized for the fight. He's treating me like I don't even exist anymore."

"Seri, why do you put up with his shit?"

"I honestly don't know."

"You need to do something about it. I know you're not happy. Do you still want to be with him?"

"We've spent so many years together and... "

"That's not what I asked. Do you still love him?"

"I...I think so."

"Seri..."

"Can we just drop it?"

"Okay, only if you want me to. Just know that I care about you."

"I know, Tre."

We made our way to the Oakland International Airport and Tre parked his car. We grabbed our bags and walked inside the tall building.

"Well, we got another hour or so. Want to get some breakfast?" asked Tre.

"Sure."

We walked into this café and I sat at a table while Tre ordered our food. Do I love Liam? I don't think I do anymore. The way he treats me makes me feel worthless. This is not a healthy relationship. Staying with Liam, I know it will kill me inside. I just hope I have the strength to leave him before that happens. Tre is back with two croissants and coffees.

"Food, M'lady."

"Thanks, Tre."

"So, what do you wanna do when we land in Tokyo?"

"I dunno. There's so much. We could go to the Sony building or the Ueno Zoo or take a cruise of Tokyo Bay or shop at The Ginza."

"And we will do all of that and more. For the next nine days, your wish is my command."

Before I could reply, a group of about eight or nine screaming girls ran up to our table. Why do they want to see us? Oh yeah, in the presence of a rock-star. I can never fully picture Tre as a celebrity. To me, he is Tre Cool, best friend who knows too much about me. That is exactly the way I want it.

Tre's POV

Just when I think no one will notice me, in comes those horrible teenies. Now, I love our fans, they are the most kick ass kids on the planet. Teenies are a different species entirely. They are like leaches that grab on to anything that the masses deem to be cool. At this point and time, Green Day is cool so Tre Cool is cool so he must be stalked every second of the day by retarded little sixth grade sluts who cannot even spell punk. As you can see, teenies are created by the Devil. I signed their pieces of paper and they finally went away. Not before glaring at Seri like she was a fucking cancer.

"How do you get used to that?"

"I'm not, I appear to be though, huh?"

"Wow. That's amazing, Tre."

"That's me, the amazing Tre Cool."

"You're too full of yourself sometimes."

"Flight 267. Oakland to Tokyo. Flight 267," boomed the speakers positioned around the airport.

"That's us."

Seri and I threw away our trash and walked to the boarding area. After going through all the safety procedures, we were finally able to board the plane.

"Now it's just ten hours until Tokyo."

"Tre, speaking like that is gonna make this flight fly by."

"Exactly, this is an airplane."

"Oh, shut up."

She turned over and fell asleep. I stayed up and watched her. When she is sleeping she looks so happy and peaceful. I watched her for a few more minutes until I eventually dozed off.

(Outside of The New Otani hotel. Eleven hours later.)
Seri's POV

Oh my God! This place is gigantic. I cannot believe we will actually be staying here. We got out of the taxi and a doorman grabbed our bags. We walked inside. It was even more beautiful, a huge foyer with oriental tapestries and royal blue carpets.

"Hello. Konichiwa. Welcome, to The New Otani."

"Hi, we're checking in," said Tre.

"Name, sir?"

"Tre Cool."

"Oh yes, the Queen suite, room 1598. Masashi will take your luggage. Have a nice stay."

"Thank you."

Masashi put our luggage on the cart and lead us down the ever expanding hallway and onto an elevator. Tre and I stepped in behind him as the elevator closed. He pushed the button for floor number ten and we got off. He lead us down another hallway till we reached our final destination. He slid the card into the scanner and the door clicked open. He walked inside, placed our luggage in the closet and Tre tipped Masashi as he left us alone in the gigantic suite.

"Well, do you like it, Seri?"

"Like it? It's fucking amazing. Look at the size of this room, and the view. Oh man, look at that garden outside, this place has it's own waterfall?"

"Calm down, Seri. This is just the hotel, wait till you see all of Tokyo."

"Tre, this is ridiculous. You don't have to do this for me. This is like something you do for a honeymoon, not a birthday present."

"Come on, let me spoil you every once in a while. You need it."

"Tre, I feel guilty. How am I ever going to repay you?"

"Don't worry about it. You don't have to repay me for anything. Just enjoy yourself, we both needed a vacation."

"Okay, Tre."

"Good, now it's getting late. We need to get some sleep because we got a long day ahead of us, okay?"

"Yeah, do we have to share a bed?"

"No, this room has separate bedrooms. I got dibs on this one!"

I ran into Tre's room and I understood why he had chosen it. His room had it's own twenty inch plasma screen television and a king size bed.

"Stop staring at my room. I need to get changed into my p.j.'s."

"I'm not staring at your room. I just wanted to see why you wanted it so bad."

"Yeah, yeah, You know you're jealous of my big TV."

"Whatever, Tre. I'm going to bed."

"Seri's jealous," he sang as I closed the door to his room.

I walked down the hallway to what will be my room for the next nine days. I walked in and I could not believe my eyes. Tre had given me the master bedroom. There was a bouquet of red and white roses on the bedside table and a note sealed in a red envelope on my pillow addressed to me and written in Tre's messy handwriting.

Dear Serenity,

Just relax. That's why I planned this whole trip in the first place.
You always take care of everyone and now let me take care of you.
You don't have to do anything in return.
I want you to be happy and up bright and early at seven tomorrow morning.
We are going to the sword museum first and that's final!
No buts.
Now get some rest or you'll nag about it all day tomorrow.
Nighty-night

Love,
Tre

Who knew he could be so thoughtful. I felt my heart beat fast after I read that letter. No one has ever done anything so sweet for me in my entire life. Liam probably does not even know the definition of romantic. I laid the letter on the bedside table and climbed in bed. I just could not stop thinking about Tre. Why would he do something like this for me? Sure in the letter it says he did it as a friend but people do not do things of this magnitude for just friends. I had these major butterflies in my stomach. Do I have feelings for Tre? I tried to push that thought out of my head but it just kept coming back. I closed my eyes and fell asleep. My dreams were only of Tokyo, Tokyo and Tre.

(Eight days later. Final day in Tokyo.)
Seri's POV

These past eight days have been the most fun I have ever had in my entire life. I was amazed by the hotel but we rarely spent any time in it because we were too busy touring Tokyo. Tre was serious and the first day we went to the Japan sword museum. I had to take a samurai sword from a certain drummer who was trying to kill the 'bad' men. We also took a cruise of the Tokyo Harbor where a live band was playing right on the ship! We visited the East Gardens outside of the Imperial Palace, the most gorgeous gardens in all of Japan. We took a stroll through Hama Rikyu, a park near Tokyo Bay. We even saw a Kabuki show at the Kabuki-Zu Theater after a long day of shopping at The Ginza. The Japanese food seemed to keep Tre busy so we ate out nearly every night. Nobu, Takamaru, Sabatini di Firenze, La Tour d'Argent, all the biggest restaurants in the city. I liked the atmosphere of smaller cafés though so we also ate at Café Du Toi , The Black Sheep and Almond Coffee house.

Since tonight is our last night in Japan, Tre is taking me to the Geronimo Shot Bar, the most famous bar and club in Tokyo. I have about an hour to get ready. I just got out of the shower and dried off. I walked into the closet in my bedroom and scanned through the clothes we bought at The Ginza. I chose my dark green and black laced corset top I bought at Mitsukoshi and this black lacy mini-skirt I bought at Ma Monte Azuru. I left my wavy hair down and put on a pair of black pumps. I checked myself in the mirror and I looked good compared to the way I look normally. The outfit really showed off my figure, in a good way. I brushed my teeth and walked into the foyer. Tre was waiting for me on the large lounge sofa. He looked great, he was wearing a dark, scarlet read t-shirt that he bought at Ameyoko and a tuxedo pant and jacket from Muji.

Tre's POV

Damn, Seri looked amazing. That corset I bought her brought out some of her best assets. She looked at me and smiled. I love that smile. I walked up to her and gave her a hug.

"You ready to go?"

"Yes, sir."

"You look stunning, by the way."

"I could say the same about you, Mr. Cool."

"Well, time to hit the road, Ms. Blake."

She grabbed her purse and I grabbed the keys to my rented Toyota and I wrapped my arm around her waist as we left. I drove down the street lit by Tokyo's famous skyline and kept going down the familiar path to Geronimo. Every time me and the guys tour in Tokyo we always manage to make a stop there. It has the best drinks in Japan and the only bar that makes the Cheech. I finally saw the neon sign that flashed Geronimo Shot in bright green and parked the car.

"You ready for some fun, Seri?"

"I've been having fun all week, Tre."

"Glad to hear that. Now let's go inside, they make Cheech here."

"You and your Cheech."

"Have you tried a Cheech before?"

"Nope."

"Then don't diss it until you've had it. You are getting plastered tonight Ms. Blake so you might as well have a Cheech."

"You have all the Cheech's you want Tre. I refuse to taste it."

"Yeah, sure. By the end of the night you'll be begging for the recipe."

I grabbed her arm and we ran inside Geronimo. The lights were flashing so brightly I had to adjust my vision until I fund us a table. The DJ was playing some original Tokyo techno and I could see the little raver's and their glow sticks.

"Wow, this place is crazy. I haven't seen anything like it before."

"Really? When was the last time you went to a club?"

"I dunno, a few years?"

"What? That's a disgrace, How did you two ever form a relationship anyway?"

"We went out, just not that much anymore."

"Okay, before you bore us to death with your story about some 'wild' date that you and Liam had a decade ago let's get a drink."

"Who's us?"

"Me and the voices in my head, duh."

I grabbed Seri's hand again and dragged her to the bar. I ordered a cheech, that wonderful liquid of the gods, and Seri got a shot of tequila.

"I wanna dance, Tre," slurred the now very drunk Seri.

"Seri, I don't dance."

"C'mon, please?"

"Fine, fine."

We danced for about an hour. Seri really got into the music and started grinding up against me. I loved the feeling of her all over me. It sent shivers up and down my spine. No woman has ever been able to make me feel this way. Seri was like a drug that I have never tried. All I want is a taste of her. The music slowed and the DJ played a slow song. Seri walked up towards me and wrapped her arms around my neck. I wrapped my arms around her waist and the small of her back. She rested her head on my chest and we slowly danced back and forth.

"I'm really glad that I'm here with you Tre."

"I'm happy you're here too, Seri."

"You're the nicest guy I've ever known. No one has ever done something so sweet for me."

"I did it because you're the greatest woman I've ever met."

"You mean it?"

"Of course."

"You're my best friend, Tre."

"You're mine too, Seri."

(The next morning.)
Seri's POV

What happened last night? I just do not remember. The last thing I remember is the slow dance with Tre and then I blacked out. My head hurt so bad from the beginning of what I knew would be a bad hangover. I walked into the bathroom and took a shower. The warm water felt good on my body. I walked out and stood in front of the mirror. I had some major bags under my eyes. I skilfully applied my makeup and walked back into my bedroom. I packed up the rest of my clothes and put on an old Operation Ivy shirt and a pair of baggy pants. Have to be comfortable for the long plane ride ahead of me. I grabbed the last of my luggage and walked into the foyer. I was distracted by the sound of Tre's stereo blasting The Ramones song, Can't Seem To Make You Mine.

I can't seem to make you mine
I can't seem to make you mine
You fly around like a bee
Hurtin' everything you see
I try everything I know
To make you wanna love me so
The only things you do
Is try to put the hurt on me

Can't you see what you're doin to me
You fill my heart with misery
In every breath and step I take
I'm more in love with you

Can't go on like this
A little bit of love and not one kiss
I've gotta have your love every day
Love that's real and will stay
I can't seem to make you mine
I can't seem to make you mine
I can't seem to make you mine
I can't seem to make you mine

Can't you see...

I can't seem to make you mine
I can't seem to make you mine
Come back baby to me
And my misery
I give you love night and day
Never ever go away
I can't seem to make you mine
I can't seem to make you mine
I can't seem to make you mine

That is strange. Why would he be playing that song? Now I really want to know what happened last night. I walked down the hall and knocked on Tre's door. I heard the music lower and Tre opened the door and smiled at me but his smile was not as bright as normal.

"Morning, sunshine," I said as I made my way to his room.

"Hey."

"So, we got to leave today?"

"Yup, in a few hours."

"I'm gonna miss being here. I loved Tokyo."

"I knew you would."

"I already packed so I'll leave you to it."

"Seri, you remember last night?"

"No, I blacked out. You remember anything?"

His face fell a bit and he did not look me in the eye.

"Um, no, not a thing. Guess we really got shit-faced, huh?"

"Yeah, I guess so. Well, I'll be waiting in the foyer for you."

I walked out the room and left him to pack his things. Why did he look so sad? Why was he listening to that song? Why can I not remember last night? So many questions were troubling me. I sat down on the sofa and turned on the television. Some crazy reality TV show was on and it kept me entertained until Tre emerged from his room with his luggage.

"You ready, Tre?"

"Yeah, let's go. I'm starting to get a bit homesick."

"I know what you mean."

We checked out of The New Otani and got in a cab that drove us to the airport. The entire flight there, Tre was asleep and I was thinking. I tried retracing my steps but it was to no avail. No matter how hard I tried I could not remember. I could not wait to go home. Maybe Liam missed me? I know I missed him. The plane landed and Tre and I got into his SUV and he drove me to my house.

"Thanks, Tre. I had a really great time with you."

"I did too."

"Well, I gotta go. Bye."

I gave him a kiss on the cheek and walked inside of my house.
