Family...Sux, chapter 4
"GET UP! GET UP!" Tre screamed jumping on my bed while I was still sleeping.
I just groaned and pulled the covers over my head indicating he should leave. But Tre didn't get the message,
"Nope! Can't sleep late! We have to stuff to d---" Tre began but got interrupted by his phone ringing.
"In 10 minutes you better be downstairs and ready," Tre said and walked out leaving me still lying in my bed.
I reluctantly got up and put on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt covered with a hoodie. I looked down and I laughed at the "I Love Tre Cool" hoodie that my friends made for me and I accidentally packed it without thinking. I smirked, slipped it off and put on a plain black one and went into the bathroom to do everything a 20 year old has to do. I slipped on some shoes and I began walking downstairs. I walked into the kitchen when I heard Tre talking on the phone with someone.
"No Billie, I can't. I'm spending the day with Shannen," Tre explained.
"Who?" Billie asked confused.
Tre rolled his eyes, "Shannen. My long lost daughter... "
"What? OH...you mean the 20 year old right?" Billie asked.
"YES! I have to go...goodbye Billie..." Tre hung up and walked into the kitchen.
"So...what to you want to do today?"
I looked up at him and smiled, "I dunno...whatever"
Tre rolled his eyes and sat at the table with me, "Okay great! I was thinking about bowling then grab a bite to eat then a movie?"
"Sounds awesome!" I exclaimed as I went back to eating my breakfast bar I packed with me.
Tre all of a sudden took the bar from my hand and looked at it like it was some foreign food he'd never heard of. I grabbed it back from him and smiled,
"It's a protein bar."
"Are you serious? Those things SUCK. Why don't you eat coco puffs or froot loops like I do?"
I took another bite and spoke, "Because... that stuff has so much sugar in it, it's crazy... .and I've become a health nut...so..."
"You are NOT my daughter," Tre joked.
I just laughed and continued eating and reading the book that was underneath me. As soon as I looked down I saw the book vanish from my sight. I looked up and saw my father holding the book upside down trying to read it. I laughed and turned the book right side up for him.
"There ya go..."
"Hmm...Moby Dick...isn't that the book with the whale and the dude at sea?"
I was impressed I began to applaud, "Wow...you ACTUALLY know what it's about. I'm impressed."
Tre's self esteem just rose significantly and I could tell by his face, "I know! I'm the living Albert Einstein!"
I smiled at him and we ate the rest of our breakfast talking and laughing like we've known each other for years. We got our stuff and walked out to his BMW. I was about to get in but I saw the keys dangling in my face. I focused my gaze on Tre who had the widest grin on his face. I stared at him for awhile then I finally got what he was implying. I stepped back and began shaking my head.
"There's NO way I'm driving your BMW," I said really freaked I might crash it or worse.
"Yea, come on, just try... " Tre said dangling the keys in my face.
"No...I don't want to crash it."
Tre laughed, "Shannen...I'm a rock star, I can have it fixed if you totally demolish it."
"But...umm...I don't know how to get there, and you know your way around better then I do..." I desperately said trying to find any excuse not to drive his car.
"Navigational system," Tre said smugly.
I couldn't think of anything so I said the first thing that popped into my mind, "Umm... I didn't bring my license?"
Tre rolled his eyes, "Your gonna have to do better then that..."
I glared at him trying to find another excuse. A long silence was between us staring at each other. Tre's smug little smirk and my determined face. Finally, I caved.
"Fine! Give me the damn keys but if I crash it, don't tell me I didn't warn you!" I said snatching the keys away from him.
I climbed into the front seat and immediately I got nervous. The truth was... I can't drive a stick shift, my car is a automatic... but his face was so... GAH... I HAD to drive. Tre soon climbed into the seat next to me and fastened his seat belt really tightly. I smirked pretending I knew what I was doing. I began to press the gas until Tre yelled scaring the shit out of me.
"What are you doing?!"
"I...umm...uhhhh...starting the car?" I said weakly.
Tre soon had that little smirk I hated but loved at the same time, "Holy shit...you can't drive a stick can you?"
I just looked down embarrassed that I was 20 years old and couldn't drive a stick shift. Tre began laughing and I just glared at him.
"Look! All I drive is an automatic! I'm sorry!" I defended myself.
Tre stopped laughing but still had a smile, "Here...I'll teach you, it's not hard. Put the stick down to D."
I glared at him again and slowly moved the stick down to D.
"Good, now just punch the gas," Tre said.
I looked at him kind of nervous but I punched the gas anyway. We were thrown back into the seats as we went speeding down the road. I was addicted the window shield really nervous. I looked at Tre quickly to see him clutching to his seat for dear life. I smirked and purposely punched the gas harder to make him nervous. I soon got the hang of the stick and before we knew it we were at the bowling alley. I made an extremely sharp turn making a loud screeeech I found a parking spot and pulled in sharply.
I turned off the car, took the keys out and sat back in my chair looking at Tre. Poor Tre... he was sweating all over his face and eyes were wide with terror and fear. His hands were practically digging into the sides of the seats.
"Oh come on...I wasn't that bad..."
"You...are...never...driving...again..." Tre breathed in heavily recovering from my need for speed.
"Dude...you went like 100 on the parkway..."
"Yeah! But I was driving my car. The crazy chick that's my daughter wasn't," Tre said finally being able to sit up straight.
I rolled my eyes, "Well...this proves that I'm your 20 year old daughter right?"
"Definitely. Okay...I think I'm good enough to bowl now..." Tre said opening the door and standing very shakily.
I walked over to help him but paused, "Oh, you're a drama queen."
Tre smirked and stood up straight and ran into the bowling alley leaving me in the dust.
"Race ya!"
"Hey! That's not fair! You got a head start!" I yell catching up to him.
We both arrived in the bowling alley and we were one of the first one's to get a lane. We got our shoes and started the game. By the end of it, I was ahead but if Tre got a strike, he would win.
"Okay... Good luck!" I teased.
Tre smirked and got up and got ready to roll the ball. Right when he brought his ball back to throw it a cute little girl asked him for his autograph causing Tre to lose balance and throw the ball straight into the gutter.
"DAMMIT!" Tre yelled in frustration but turned to the girl sweetly.
"Sure...here..."
Tre signed the little piece of paper and the girl ran away happy. Tre came back defeated and frustrated. I was about to open my mouth to say something but he stopped me.
"Don't say anything."
I smirked, "Oh...I wasn't going to..."
"You're lucky that girl distracted me or else I would have gotten that strike and beat your sorry ass."
"Sure okay...you keep on believing that." I smirked smugly.
