Family...Sux, chapter 6
The next morning I was awoken by my cell phone ringing extremely loudly. I groaned and brought my hand to the nightstand to try and find my obnoxious phone. I kept on searching the table top for my phone until I finally found it. I brought it up to my ear and flipped it open.
"What?" I asked crankily, not bothering to check the caller ID.
"GET UP and meet me downstairs in five minutes. I need to tell you something!" Tre practically screamed into the phone.
"I'M NOT DEAF! TALK NORMALLY!" I screamed back at him.
"Sorry, but this is the only way to get you up." Tre chuckled.
"Whatever, wait, why didn't you just come up here and wake me up in your usual annoying way?" I asked.
"Because I was too lazy to walk upstairs," Tre replied.
"Okay, I'll be down in a sec," I said shutting the phone.
I rolled out of bed and walked downstairs in flannel pajama bottoms and a white tank top. As soon as I got downstairs I realized Tre wasn't alone. He was with Billie Joe and Mike and I was in my pajamas. I stood frozen with embarrassment while they were staring at me.
Billie chuckled, "Nice pajamas, I especially love the hearts on the pants."
I turned even redder reminding myself to kill my father for not telling me my idols were here.
"So...Shannen, what I wanted to tell you was that I was having guests over... " Tre said, smirking.
I was sort of pissed at Tre right now/ "No...really? I hadn't noticed... "
Mike laughed and spoke up, "Don't be embarrassed, I have flannel pajama bottoms but they have teddy bears on them... "
I laughed slightly, "Oh...Mr. Dirnt likes his teddy bears?"
Mike smirked, "You shouldn't be talking Miss. Heart."
I glared at him, "Haha, very funny. Can I go change now?"
Billie smirked, "No, you can't."
I completely ignored his comment and turned to Tre for assistance.
"Huh? Oh! Sure! The thing I wanted to tell you was that I'm going to be gone for the whole day so, you're on your own for today," Tre explained.
I hide my disappointment, "Oh... okay, as long as I get your car."
Tre smiled and threw me the keys, "Fair enough...just don't crash it okay?"
"Okay, I will!" I exclaimed sarcastically and ran upstairs.
Tre rolled his eyes. "She's such a handful."
"She's funny." Mike smiled.
"Okay, let's go!" Billie exclaimed referring going to the studio in his basement.
All three of them got up and left to go to Billie's leaving Shannen on her own. She got downstairs out of her pajamas and into a plain t-shirt and jeans. She immediately whipped out her phone and dialed a number.
"Hello?" a voice answered.
"Kyara!" I exclaimed, happy she answered.
Kyara sounded excited. "Oh my god! Where are you? I've been dialing your home phone like everyday for the past three days."
"Sorry, but you're NOT going to believe where I am."
"I have no idea, tell me." Kyara laughed.
"Tre Cool's house," I said plainly wanting to hear her reaction.
Kyara laughed, "Really...where are you?"
"I'm not joking, I'm at Tre fucking Cool's house."
"I don't believe you...and even if I did...why would you be in his house?"
I smirked, "Because...he's my dad."
All I heard was the silence on the other end of the receiver. I was about to hang up but then I all of a sudden heard uncontrollable laughter at the end of the phone.
"Umm...Kyara, are you dying because if you are, I would have to call an ambulance or something," I asked calmly knowing that she was just laughing extremely hard.
"No...it's just that...that was the worst joke I've ever heard," Kyara said after recovering.
"God! It's not a damn joke! I'm seriously at Tre's house and he is my freaking father! I'm going to prove it to you sooner or later!" I exclaimed into the phone.
"Whatever, you just call me when you can prove it," Kyara said smugly, hanging up.
"Gah!" I exclaimed after slamming my phone shut.
I got up and made myself some breakfast in the massive kitchen. I was looking for the pan to make eggs when my cell phone rang again. When I heard it I lifted my head up and banged my head on the top of the cabinet.
"Ow ow ow ow," I repeated several times while rubbing my head.
I picked up my phone and answered, "Hello?"
"Hey baby," a voice on the other end rang through my ear.
I immediately recognized the voice as Jess, my ex-boyfriend from high school. We dated for three years and then we broke it off because he cheated on me with one of my friends.
"Jess...I told you to get rid of this number," I rolled my eyes as I spoke.
"But I can't, I miss you... " Jess pleaded on the other line.
"We broke up five years ago and you're still not over me?"
"Nope, I haven't had a decent relationship since you left me."
I all of a sudden felt bad for him. Five years was a long time to never forget a person. "Wow... Jess, I'm sorry. You want to meet me somewhere just as FRIENDS ?"
Jess all of a sudden sounded peppy and upbeat, "Yes! Yes! Yes!"
I smiled a bit remembering his way of being excited, "Okay, but I'm in California right now. I can't fly do—"
"I'm in California right now on business. We can meet up at Starbucks at 12:00. See you then, bye!"
I began to talk but all I heard was the loud buzzing sound indicating he already hung up. I clicked the phone shut and smiled a bit. I began making the eggs, beginning to worry a little about how Jess was going to act.
I finished making the eggs and sat down and began eating. Around the time I was finished, Tre burst through the doors giving me a heart attack. I yelped and fell off the chair out of pure fear.
"Fuck! Don't fucking do that again! You gave me a heart attack!" I yelled, picking myself up from the floor.
I looked at Tre and saw that he was laughing hysterically from his entrance. As I watched him, his face kept on getting redder and redder. I rolled my eyes and walked into the kitchen with my plate.
"It wasn't THAT funny," I said from the kitchen.
Tre regained his senses and recovered from his laughing fit, "Yes it was. You got soooo scared. Priceless moment right there."
I smirked a bit agreeing with him, "I guess...what are you doing back so early?"
Tre smiled, "The guys decided to quit practice because none of us felt like working."
"Oh, well, I'm going to meet someone in about an hour," I said walking out of the kitchen.
"Who are you meeting? Is it a boy? Ohhhhh! Shannen's got a boyfriend!" Tre teased like a little kid.
"Jess is an OLD boyfriend so ha!" I teased back sticking out my tongue at him.
"Oh! You're relinquishing your love for each other, how sweet!" Tre continued teasing, acting more sappy and cutesy.
I playfully hit him across the arm and began walking up the stairs to get ready.
"Shannen and Jess sitting in a tree! K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" Tre began singing.
"You're so immature!" I yelled back, laughing.
Tre almost immediately yelled back, "So?! I'm Tre Cool!"
I heard him and just chuckled and continued walking upstairs. I got into my room and slipped on a mini jean skirt with a long sleeve black sweater with long, black, leather boots. Before I went downstairs I fixed my makeup to make sure everything was in order. Finally, I walked downstairs and got a reaction from Tre.
"Friends huh?" Tre asked eyeing my clothes.
"Yes, friends," I responded coolly and began walking toward the door.
I put on my jacket and grabbed Tre's keys. I walked to the door and I heard Tre yell, "Don't crash my car!"
I smirked and walked out shutting the door behind me, ready to see Jess for the first time in almost seven years.
"What?" I asked crankily, not bothering to check the caller ID.
"GET UP and meet me downstairs in five minutes. I need to tell you something!" Tre practically screamed into the phone.
