Family...Sux, chapter 7

I arrived at the little café located on the street corner that I was supposed to meet Jess at. I walked in and immediately recognized him with his leather jacket and his constant obsession with reading books. I smirked and walked up behind him so he did not see me.

"Waiting for someone?" I asked casually.

Jess immediately turned around and a wide smile spread across his face. He embraced me in a tight hug and I just smiled and hugged back. We parted and we both sat down in the booth.

"Wow, so how are you?" Jess asked extremely happy that I came.

I laughed, "I'm fucking fantastic. I just reunited with my father I haven't seen for 20 years."

"Wow, that's awesome. Is he nice?" Jess asked sipping his drink.

I chuckled, "Umm...I don't know if nice is the proper word here, more like...different?"

Jess chuckled and we began to talk some more. As we got deeper into the conversation I realized he was beginning to get all fidgety and nervous. I was about to say something to him but our waiter came over.

"What can I get you guys?" The waiter asked politely.

"Burger Che—I mean...Cheeseburger," Jess corrected himself getting all red and embarrassed.

I smiled and ordered a salad. The waiter walked away and Jess kept his head down focused on his hands. Our food came and he began eating avoiding conversation because he didn't know what to say.

"So... Jess... how have you been over the years? You learned stuff about me now it's my turn," I smiled sweetly.

Jess looked up and wiped his mouth so it was free of any food. "Umm...I'm working on a book and I'm hoping to get it published."

"Jess! That's so cool!" I exclaimed excited.

Jess blushed widely and muttered thanks to me and kept on eating. The rest of our conversation was spent with me asking questions and him getting even more embarrassed as the minutes went by. Finally, we were done and were walking out to our cars that were next to each other.

"Well... umm..." I tried to talk but was too distracted by Jess's nervousness. I decided to get him over the fact that he should not be embarrassed.

"Okay...Jess. Stop being all fidgety and nervous, it's really distracting and just a tad bit annoying," I explained.

"But..."

I rolled my eyes and sighed, "If I give you a kiss will you stop acting like a geek who's asking his crush out like in high school?"

Jess looked up and smiled weakly. I smiled and leaned in and planted a kiss on his lips and let them rest there for awhile. I actually forgot how well he kissed and how sweet they tasted. Kissing my old high school boyfriend made me remember all the memories that happened in the torture chamber. I pulled away and smiled a little not noticing that I was turning a little red myself.

Jess smirked and I could tell he was over his embarrassment because he began talking and acting like his normal self again.

"Okay, that was worth acting like a total dumbass," Jess laughed.

I laughed a little still thinking about the kiss and how well he did it. I looked up and smiled again trying to get over the fact that all I could think about was him at that moment.

"This was fun. We should definitely do this again," I said emphasizing the word definitely.

"Sure. I'll call you later then?"

"Yep, sounds good," I said getting into the car.

"Bye," Jess smiled and walked to his car and drove off.

"Bye..." I said trailing off a little.

The car ride home, I was thinking all about Jess and I realized I began to feel the same feelings I felt back in high school. No... he was my OLD boyfriend. We broke up for a reason. But... that kiss was so... wow... I snapped out of my daydream when my phone began to ring causing me to jump three feet out of my seat.

"Hello?" I answered a little out of breath.

"Did I call at a bad time?" joked the other voice on the other line.

"Shut up..." I said rolling my eyes listening to Tre.

"Well, am I? Should I leave you two alone?" Tre kept on going.

"Yes Tre, I'm having uncontrollable sex in the back of YOUR car and I'm going to get pregnant and make you a grandfather," I said smirking knowing that would make him stop.

"Ahh! I'm too beautiful to become a grandfather!" Tre screamed on the phone hanging up.

I just laughed and closed my phone as I pulled up into the driveway to the house. I parked his car and stepped out to be greeted by Billie.

"Oh, hey Billie," I said.

Billie didn't say anything, instead he practically ran up to the front door and rushed inside. I thought this was a little weird seeing as Billie never passes up a conversation to insult my driving. I shook it off and walked inside the house and collapsed on the couch.

"So... how did it go other then the sex in my car thing?" Tre smiled jokingly.

"Huh? Oh, it was great. It was nice seeing him again," I responded smiling a little too much.

Tre smirked knowing how I was feeling, "Guess what?"

I turned to him, "What?"

"Shannen has a boyfriend!" Tre teased.

"Maybe I do..." I replied smiling.

Tre sat back in the seat pouting like a three year old when his mother tells him he can't have a cookie before dinner.

"Aw...you're no fun. You were suppose to say no I don't then we fight and you pretend to get all mad and storm upstairs," Tre said continuing to pout.

I leaned back next to Tre and all I could think about was Jess.
