Age is Nothing But a Number and Love is Nothing but a Strong Emotion, chapter 1

It was a hot summer day in June. It was also the last day of school. All of the students in Oakville high school were about to bust out of the main doors once the clock striked three.

There were only two more minutes. Two more minutes until the school year would be over. They wouldn't have worries and no work at all. Except the occasional summer job to scrap up spme extra cash for spending over the summer. They were all at the edge of thier seats. It was almost as if they were those same fourth graders waiting for summer back in elementary school. Although for some of them, it was thier last year of high school and they would be thrown into the shark tank of college. Everything would be different there.

All of them had thier eyes fixed on the clock. Some were talking and filling each other with pre summer gossip. The teacher was getting her final grades in the grade book. It seemed like an eternity for only two minutes. Just one more dot.

Then... RING! They all jumped out of thier seats and hopped over the desks out the door with old graded papers flying behind them. It was almost like chaos. Hooting and hollering was heard everywhere. The doors of lockers slammed closed for the final time. Two months without school seemed so sweet. But only one of them was held back in a room with brick walls and a mean old grumpy principal in front of him.

Stuck at the desk in the principal's office was he. His name was Jimmy. The very michievious person he was. He was caught skipping his last three classes spraying graffiti all over the boys bathroom stalls. When he said all over, it was all over the bathroom. There were drawings on the mirror, violent lyrics on the wall, spray painted 'nonsense' in the stalls, and all of the rolls of toilet paper and paper towels were crumpled up and waded up with soap and water so they were thrown up at the ceiling and would stick there. When the lock of the boys bathroom door finaly fell off from all of the rust, A janitor came in and caught him in the act. He notified the principal so now he's in deep trouble.

"Now Jimmy, I want you to tell me why you did this." Pincipal Bardkly said, "Was this act out of attention? Do you feel like no one pays attention to you at home or something?"

"I don't need no fucking attention." He said in a low voice.

"What was that now?" Principal Bardkly asked.

"I said, that I don't need any fucking attention." Jimy replied again in the same tone

"I want to know why you did it young man," He said more stern. "Now, you could be out there will all of the other people having fun out in the summer light having a good deal if fun. Now that you've done this, your stuck in here with me. Is there something going on at home? Is this why you act out all the time? Is that why I always see your face in my office. If you really want to do something good, I think you should join and extracuricular activity of some sort or-"

"Listen old man," Jimmy stood up and pointed to Bardkly's chest. "I don't need any fucking attention. You don't understand what the hell goes on at this place I'm supposed to call home." He gave a shove to the pricipal moving him slightly. Then Jimmy walked out the door ignoring what the principal had said to him, and slammed the door on his way out. "I don't need no fucking attention!" You could hear him as he srceamed it out along the halls with the sounds on locker doors flinging open and slamming shut. But Principal Bardkly reamined where he was.

"That boy sure has alot ahead of him. I don't need to bother running after him an scolding him. After all, it's summer. The boy needs a heck of a break." Bardkly said to himself.

Jimmy was walking down the sidewalk on his way home. Before he left he threw out all of his books and school supplies in the trash. He didn't have a smile on his face though. His friends had already left so he was stuck going back to his damned home. He got to the driveway and outside the door you could hear arguing, and the trowing of objects. He didn't even bother to come inside. You could hear everything outside.

"Damn you worthless piece of-"

"Just listen..."

Then you could hear the sound of a glass bottle smashing and someone crying.

"Fuck you!"

Footsteps can to the door and it flung open. Out stepped and angry looking drunk man. He had tattered clothes and a beer bottle in one of his hands. He looked well into his fourties. He had a deepish and scratyish voice. Didn't look like he shaved too often, and his hair was messy. No it wasn't Jimmy's dad, it was his soon to be step dad.

"Oh, it's you again." He said to Jimmy as he noticed him by the door. "Tell your mother I'm not going to be here in a few days." Before he left he said one more thing, "Loose the make-up girly." Then he climbed into his pickup truck and drove out. Jimmy did wear eyeliner. People never understood why.

He walked into his house and saw his mother on the floor with her head resting on the coffee table with a cigarette in one hand and pot on the table. "So that's it?" He asked.

"What do you want?" She said muffled.

"I come home and no one even say a hello to me. Not like I'm used to it or anything."

"Are you done yet? Did I say you could start shit?"

"Whatever, if that guy ends up killing you, don't say anything about it to me. I bet dad doesn't feel bad for you. After all he's dead. " He went into his room and slammed the door. Then he kicked off his shoes turned the TV on and flew into his bed. He flipped channels until he stumbled upon an interview.

"Welcome back to our show! Today, we have a very special guest, and It's been more of a dream just to announce their names. Here they are, Green Day!" After the young man withe the Brittish accent announced. Jimmy felt a bolt of excitement on him. Green Day was his favorite band, infact everytime he saw something about them other than his CD player, he drew all his thoughts into it. His room was practically covered with Green Day posters, along with The Sex Pistoles, The Clash, The Ramones, and Blink 182. Most of them were handed from his dad which made them really old.

The crowd applauded and it soon grew into a loud mess of mumble jumble when the three of them came out of the dark hallway and onto the illuminous set. Once girl got so excited that she nearly jumped out of the seating area and dived for Billie's leg, but a secruity guard blocked her way.

"Oh it's so nice to meet you three! How are you on this fine day?" The VJ asked. Jimmy got so absorbed into the television. When they talked about they're albums, they're love lifes, and the crazy thing's they've done, the part that got him really interested was when they annonced their up coming tour dates.

"So could we get the camera man to show the tour dates?" Then after that the tour dates of their American Idiot tour were shown on the screen and they kept scrolling down. Jimmy looked curiously for a city that was near him, and it came up. Apparently they were playing at the Johnson House on June 22. It was around three weeks away. "Tickets will be sold at your local box office starting June third." Then Billie, Mike and Tre` left the set. Jimmy's day was starting to brighten up. His favorite band was going to be performing at a nearby venue.

He planned on having the time of his life, and maybe having the time of Billie's life too.
