An Old Friend, A New Love, chapter 2

Kat walked in the restaurant doors, and Mike followed her.
"There you are Ka-" Larissa's eyes became as big as Kat's when she saw Mike. "MIKE!!!" She ran up to him and gave him a hug. "Oh my gosh! How are you? How is everything? How's the band?"
Mike smiled. He was glad to see Larissa. He was glad to see both of them. "Everything's great, actually. How are you?"
"Things are coming along great. I got the kids at the house and their father's with them." She was so excited to see Mike. Kat stood their watching them converse, smiling. It was nice to meet a friend that you haven't seen for a long time. Katherine didn't know exactly what happened. How they became distant as friends. The band might have gone to go tour and become big, while Katherine and Larissa stayed in Oakland. But Katherine did remember the great times that they had hanging out in Gilman, and just around Oakland, and things like that.

Katherine, Larissa, and Mike had sat at the table, catching up with each other.
"Billie Joe's been great. This CD has really affected him. He put a lot of effort into this album." Mike continued talking about how the band was.
"Where is Billie Joe, by the way?" Larissa asked. She missed him too. They were very close friends.
"Billie Joe's home with his family. We're done touring for the album. At least for now."
"How's Tre?" Katherine asked butting in. "How's our little horny friend?" They all laughed.
"Tre's doing well." He sat there for a moment, thinking. "He's probably with Frankito somewhere spending the day with him. We're all catching up with our family, and friends. Actually, I just came here to get some coffee. Then I saw Kat."
"I'm surprised you remembered who I was. I mean, with all the people you meet when you're a big band."
"How can I forget you?" He smiled. He took a sip of his coffee. Mike was always the one that could cheer a person up at anytime. He was a lovable person. Once you meet him, you can never forget him.

"Oh god look at the time." Larissa looked at her watch. "It's almost 10. I've got to go. My kids will wonder where I am. Kat? Are you coming with me or hitchin' a ride?" Mike laughed.
"Uh... " Kat was in thought. She wanted to stay and talk with Mike.
"Kat, I can take you home." Mike looked over to Kat and smiled. Kat looked over to Larissa and nodded.
"Well, okay then. No time for chitter-chatter. I gotta go! Bye you two! Have a good night. Bye Mike." She went up to him and he gave her a friendly kiss on the cheek. Kat waved to Larissa, and Larissa was soon out the door and in her car.

Katherine and Mike talked for a few minutes, until they had a little visitor.
As Katherine and Mike were talking, they heard footsteps coming closer and closer to them. Katherine was listening to what Mike was saying, until she heard the footsteps. She turned to where the sound was coming from, and saw a little girl, maybe about 9 years old.
"H-hi," the little girl gulped and continued in a young, high-pitched voice saying, "I-I-I'm St-st-stephanie. Aren't you the guy from that band with that song about September?"
Mike laughed. "Yes. I'm in a band called Green Day. The song is called Wake Me Up When September Ends. My name is Mike." He held out his hand. "Nice to meet you." He gave her a sweet smile, and she shook his hand.
"C... can I have your autograph please?" She gave a very angelic smile, and her cheeks got red. She handed him a piece of white paper and a pen.
"Of course. I'd love to!" His friendly smile was still spread across his face. He signed the paper and gave it and the pen back to her.
"Thanks Mike!" She ran off to her mom, and in the background you heard, "Mommy! I got Mike's autograph!!!"
We both laughed. I looked at the time. It was 10:30.
"We better start heading home." Kat said looking back at Mike.
"Yeah. Okay. Sure. Let's go." Mike stood up and got his black, leather jacket and hung over his left arm. Katherine had put on her black sweater, and they started heading towards Mike's car.
"Holy shit, Mike. You have a really nice car!" She looked at Mike with a surprised look on his face. He chuckled.
"It's not too shabby, I guess." Mike sort of blushed. She loved the car. It was also a BMW like hers, but it was a silver Coupe. She felt the car with her fingertips until she got to the car handle to open the passenger door. She got into the car and he started up the engine. "Let's go." He pulled out of his parking spot and began heading for her house.

"Thanks for driving me home. I'm so glad I was able to see you again." Katherine was gleaming. She really was happy. She didn't want him to leave yet. Something in her told her not to. I told her to hang on. Something inside her set a spark.
"Here, uh," he went shuffling through his pockets. "I'll give you my number. And Billie's and Tre's." Mike took out a piece of paper and a pen and wrote down their numbers. "Give me a call some time, okay?"
"Yeah. Of course." She gave him a smile. "I... I guess I'll see you later, then?"
"Yeah." Mike smiled. Katherine looked into his deep blue eyes. They sparkled under the moonlight. She never looked at him this way before. But from that moment on, he just seemed so different. Almost like a stranger to her. She stood there, for a moment, looking into his eyes. Mike coughed. She snapped out of her trance and her face became red.
"Bye." Katherine said in a low whisper.
"Bye." They hesitantly gave each other a friendly kiss on the cheek. Mike then walked away, heading towards his car. She went through her pockets looking for her keys, and she placed them in the lock and opened her door. She came into her home, and closed the door. Letting out a long sigh, she leaned back on her door, and thought about what she had just seen. It was never like something she has seen before. Mike seemed so different. She began to walk up the stairs into her room when she heard someone knocking at the door. She thought about who it might be, with a confused look on her face. She opened the door, and she felt someone place their hands on her hips and press their lips on hers.
"Mike... "
