Blood's Supposed to be Thicker than Water, chapter 1
Joey and Estelle were in the front yard kicking the new soccer call Mike had bought Estelle when he was in Italy on tour three weeks ago, Joey has a cruch for Estelle but wouldn't say anything because he didn't want to ruin their friendship like other people did or at least try to do.
Adie walked up the garden path towards the door with a bag full of groceries.
"Hi guys."
"Hi Mrs Armstrong," Estelle said as she kicked the ball back to Joey who also said hi a couple of seconds before hand.
"If Tre comes tell him i'll be in the kitchen," Adie said walking into the house as Joey and Estelle talked, laughed and flirted.
Until Tre's car pulled up next to the mail box as he walked up the path and said hi to both of the kids.
"Moms in the kitchen."
"Okay thanks," Tre said carrying a brown envalope into the house as he closed the door over quitely, Adrienne was washing the dishes as Tre jumped out at her she dropped a glass.
"Dont ever do that again Tre geez," Adrienne said trying to catch her breath as Tre laughed and was bent over double at her reaction.
"How are you feeling," Adie asked pouring to cups of coffee.
"Im fine just a little tired," Tre said stirring some milk into it as Adrienne knew he was lying through his teeth to make the question easier.
"No you're not, you need some rest." Tre removed the wig which was cut into his own hairstyle and was life like which he could die and jump around and it wouldn't come off .
"I just need a break thats all I'll be fine after next weeks gig."
"Tre you're not able are you, this is more than just a little show Tre you could collapse," Tre nodded he knew the risks, he knew what could happen.
"Talk to Billie please you know he will understand."
"I'll talk to him when he gets here."
Tre said placing the wig back on his head which had some little turfs starting to slowly wither.
Billie drove up the driveway and saw an open door as he had today's mail and some other things from the studio that he went to pick up like new material that was being explored.
Billie walked into the hallway and dropped everything to see Tre sitting on the stairs staring at him. Billie laughed once he regained himself properly.
"You're gonna give me a heart attack one of these days," Billie said putting all the documents back in the folder.
"Billie, can we talk please?"
"Yeah sure," Billie said sitting next to him as Tre started off slowly.
"I'm in trouble."
"Who is she ?" Billie asked looking at Tre with wide eyes as Tre laughed.
"It's not a she."
"Than a he than." Billie tried to correct himself and failed badly.
"I've got cancer Billie." Tre removed the wig as Billie looked at him is disbelief and wanted to know why he didn't tell him.
"How long have you had this Tre?" Billie asked concerned because he saw the same look in Tre's eyes as he did when his father Andy had cancer.
"Before the American Idiot tour, well since the divorce." Tre held back his tears with guilt and Billie looked at him.
"We can get through this and we're all going to help you get over that." Tre nodded and sighed tiredly it was taking alot out of him.
"Does Frankito know?"
"I dont know how to tell him."
Billie and Tre talked about next weeks shows and decided that they had to cancel it but the fans would be given a full money back guarantee and a compensation of twenty dollars.
Tre drove home to talk to Claudia first who didn't know either and they both decided Frankito had to know today.
Frankito was up in his room playing his drums, he had a dream to be in a band but there was not alot of kids who were into the same genre of music as he was.
Tre knocked on the door loud enough to hear above the racket of the snare being played as an army drumroll which he taught himself from a book he read on drumming by Arthur D. Prince.
"Frankie can we talk for a second?"
"Sure dad," he said walking over to the bed next to Tre as he sat down and waited for a lecture about the noise.
"I have to tell you something."
"You're not leaving us are you?" Tre saw the look on the fifteen-year-old's face as if pleading with him to stay but he wasn't going anywhere.
"Of course not, you won't get rid of me that easily."
"Good."
Tre continued as the words came from his lips.
"I have lung cancer Frankie, and I dont know how to make it better." Frankito burst into tears and grabbed onto Tre's shirt as they both endlessly sobbed away as Claudia downstairs was also crying, she wanted to ask Tre to start again and have a baby but how could that happen now no one was sure he had enough time to see it or not.
Adie walked up the garden path towards the door with a bag full of groceries.
