"Hey, where are we going to stay?" I asked.
"Well," Adie said, "we thought you'd like to stay one last night at your own home. Is that ok with you, Kay?"
"Yeah, I guess," I said, thinking, remembering.
"-keys?" I heard Billie Joe ask.
"Huh?"
"Do you have keys?"
"Yeah, lemme find them," I said pulling up my purse (which is a messenger bag). "OK, here, keys, where are you...Found 'em!" I exclaimed, holding up the glowing keychain that had my keys on it.
"Ok," he said, pulling into my driveway.
I walked up and unlocked the door.
"Your house isn't bad," Jake said, looking around.
"Uh, thanks?" I said, not sure if that was a compliment or not.
"What are the sleeping arrangements?" Adie asked.
"Um, well, I'm in my room, I guess you and Billie Joe can use the guest room, and I have blow-up beds, and the boys can sleep there."
"What about the master room?" Joey asked.
I went silent, and Billie Joe told him something, and Joey went, "Oh, sorry."
"I need some sleep," I muttered, and they nodded. I got the 2 blow-ups and pulled down the guest bed, changed, and went to bed myself.

I looked around my room, tears streaming down my face. Then, the phone rang. I picked it up.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Kay?" a familiar voice said.
"HEATHER!!" I practically shouted. " How are you? God, it's been forever since we've talked!"
"I know," she said. "I also know you just got adopted. Sorry my family couldn't take you in."
"Well, you'd never guess who adopted me."
"Who? You said I'd never guess, so tell me!"
"Billie Joe Armstrong and his family!!"
"GET...OUT...!!!!"
"I'm serious!"
"OK, then if he's there, put him on the phone."
"Be right back, then."
I set the phone down, and knocked on the door.
"What?" I heard Billie Joe ask.
"Can I ask something?" I hollered through the door.
"Sure."
So I stepped in. "One of my friends is on the line, and doesn't belive you guys actually adopted me. Could you talk to her for a minute or two?"
"Sure. Where's a phone?"
"Right next to you."
"Oh. Hello?"
I saw him yank the phone away from his ear as Heather screamed. Then I started laughing hysterically, and went back to my room, shutting the door behind me.
A few minutes later, he knocked on the wall and hollered, "Pick up the phone!"
"Okay!"
"Didn't belive me, huh?" I mocked into the reciever.
"No, but I do now," Heather replied, stunned. "That's just frigging unbelievable."
"I better get going," I yawned. "I'm tired, and I have a lot of work to do tomorrow. So, talk to ya later, gator?"
"Alright-OW STEPHANIE, STOP!!" Heather hollered. "I need to go anyway. TALK TO YOU LATER!"
"Same!" I said and then hung up, shut out the light, and went to sleep.

THE NEXT MORNING:
"IF YOU PEOPLE WANT BREAKFAST, GET YOUR BUTTS UP!!" I hollered down the hall.
"SHADDUP!!" was the response I got from Billie Joe, but Adie, Joey, and Jakob hobbled out.
"What's for breakfast?" Joey asked as he and Jakob sat at the table. Adie had gone to get Billie's ass up for the day.
"Uh...chocolate chip pancakes, cereal, and waffles," I said.
"Ew," was what I got from the boys.
"Well, in that case," I said getting a box from the cabinet. "Plan B: muffins!"
"Blueberry?" Joey asked.
"Uh, yep!"
"Good," Jake sighed. "I was afraid I'd have to eat frozen food!"
I just stuck my tongue out at him and made a squinty face, causing both of them to laugh.

"And, viola! Done," I said, putting the muffins on the table.
"What smells so good?" Billie Joe asked, coming down the hall with Adie behind him.
"My homemade muffins, that's what!" I said smiling.
"Damn, these are good," he said biting into one.
"Eat or talk, not both," I said.
"Shefood," he said smiling at me.
"EW!" I yelped. "AT LEAST SWALLOW!!"
Everyone just laughed at that. Then, the doorbell rang.
Since I was the only one dressed, I answered.
"Yes, sir?" I asked the delivery guy.
"Uh, Kay H________?" he asked.
"That's me."
"Delivery from a Ms. Heather U________?"
"Do I need to sign?"
"Yes, please."
So, I signed, took the package, and went back inside.
"What is it?" they all asked as I was tearing it open.
"Oh, god," was all I could say.
Next thing I know, Billie, Adie, Joey, and Jake are all standing behind me, looking at the picture I was holding. "Who's that guy?" Adie asked.
"That's...Nick...," I muttered, remembering the picture Heather took of me and him back in 6th grade, on a field trip to the local arcade.
"How old were you two?" Billie asked.
"12."
"That's a while ago."
"I know. I've been waiting to see this picture for two years."
