When nobody answered, Liz ordered, "Then you people better clean up the table you're sitting at or face the consequences." Everybody scrambled to get the place clean, because the consequence was getting banned form Steaki's, and nobody wanted that.
Once everyone was settled again, Liz came and sat at our table.
"So," she said, chugging her drink, "I saw your story on Local 10."
"Are all the stations covering me?"
"Not the Spanish ones," she laughed.
"No offence, but all Telemundo really shows is soaps!"
"Well, anyway," Liz said, turning to Billie Joe and Adrienne. "Know what Kay used to come in here wearing all the time?"
"No, what?" Billie Joe asked.
"Liz," I warned.
"Well, it was more of an outfit, really... "
"LIZ!!" I was hollering now. And really close to tears.
"Whoa, calm down, Fire-Head," Liz said, getting defensive. I sat there glaring at her. "I know, I know-if looks could kill, I'd be fine red dust."
"Damn straight you would be," I hissed at Liz.
"Kay, calm down," Billie Joe said, reaching over to me. I pulled away and looked at him, crying all out now.
"Do you know how hard it is for me to calm down!? I'm giving it my all, I always have and always will, but it's almost impossible for me now since I found my family dead!!"
The whole place was silent, even the back, at that. The only noise was me crying.
"You... you found... them?" Joey asked, looking horrified and his voice shaking.
"Yes, I did, but let's not get into details and make everyone here puke, OK?"
Liz reached over and put her arm around me, pulling me into a hug. I fought her for a minute, but she was too strong for me, so I gave up and just cried.
"Let go of me, Liz," I muttered once I stopped crying. She let go, stood up, and motioned for Billie and Adie to come with her.
"Are you sure you're alright, Kay?" Jake asked, putting his hand on my shoulder.
"Yeah, I'll be alright," I said, wiping away the last of the tears.
Soon, the 3 were back. Liz took our orders, and went to help John. Once we finished eating and got in the car, I tuned the radio to 93.1, the local rock station. Just then, When I Come Around came on. So Billie Joe and me started singing.
"I heard you crying loud
All the way across town
You've been searching for that someone
And it's me out on the prowl
As sit around feeling
Sorry for yourself
Don't get lonely now
So dry your whining eyes
I'm just searching for the moment
Sleazin' my backyard
So don't get so uptight
You been thinking about ditching me
No time to search the world around
'Cause you know where I'll be found
When I come around
I've heard it all before
So don't knock down my door
I'm a loser and user so
I don't need no accuser
To slag me down
Because I know I'm right
So go do what you like
Make sure you do it right
You may find out that your
Self-doubt means nothing
Was ever there
You can't go forcing something
If it's just not right
No time to search the world around
'Cause you know where I'll be found
When I come around"
"You're not bad," Billie said while flicking off this guy who almost hit us.
"Thanks!"
"So, what do you guys want to do now?"
That's when I got my idea. "How about we get our hair dyed?"
"Sounds like fun!"
So we pulled into Tiger Cuts, and were greeted by Andi, the manager. "Kay! How are you?"
"Gettin' by," I sighed. "Got some work for you girls, though. 3 dye jobs and 1 trim."
"Got it! ANA! TRIXIE! MIRANDA!! GET YOUR BUTTS OUT HERE!!" she hollered to the back.
Ana took Jake, Trixie took Adie, Miranda took Joey, and Andi took me.
"Got something in mind?" Andi asked, smirking.
"Have for years," I grinned.
"Then let's get it done, girl!"
When we came out, I had platinum blonde hair with 2 inches of black at the tips, Joey came out lime green, and Jake had platinum blonde to match mine.
"It was the most outrageous colour they had!" Joey told his mom when she asked why that colour. "You people know I'm crazy, so I picked something to go with my personality! I'm almost as crazy as Tre!"
"YOU SHALL NEVER BE AS CRAZY AS I, THE KING OF CRAZINESS!!!" Tre yelled as he busted through the door.
