The Heart Of A Man, The Body Of A Wolf, chapter 1

The orange and yellow leaves rustled as the light fall breeze cut through the evening air. My footsteps echoed as I slowly walked down the street with my hands shoved in my hoodie pocket and my CKY beanie pulled down low.

The sky was an orange color and the sun would be setting soon, but I didn't care. There was nothing to go home to, nothing. I took a deep sigh and turned a corner when I heard footsteps come running my way and just as I looked up- WHAM!- some one ran right into me and knocked me to the ground.

We hit the pavement hard, so hard it knocked the wind out of me. For a couple of minutes I just laid there with my eyes closed, unable to breathe. I could feel the person on top of me. I started breathing again and I looked up at the dude's face.

As soon as I recognized who it was, I couldn't breathe again. Oh my god, I thought, its freakin Tre Cool!! Our eyes met and we just stared at each other for a couple of minutes. "I- I'm sorry," he said.
"Its okay," I replied, "But why are you still on top of me?"

I was expecting a perverted remark but he just got up and held out a hand to help me up. I took his hand and then brushed some dirt off my jeans. There was something different about him though. It looked like he was starting to grow a beard and his ears seemed longer, and pointier.

And he kept looking around, like some one was after him. And he seemed a little jumpy, even the slightest noise made him jump. "Are you okay?" he asked.
"Er, yeah," I said, "Um, are you okay?" He looked behind him at the sun, which was slowly sinking below the horizon.

"Yeah, I'm fine," he began, "Its just that I have to go soon."
"Er, okay," I said, a little disaponted that he didn't have time to talk. He must have noticed, because he grinned at me.
"Well, I do have some time for a pretty girl like you," he said, "Do you want to go on a walk?"

I blushed. "Yeah, I'd love to," I said.
"So what's your name?" he asked.
"Kali."
He smiled. "That's a pretty name." Then we linked arms and began our walk through the neighborhood.
"So when are you guys going on tour again?" I asked.
He looked surprised. "Oh, well, after we get doen with the new CD I guess," he said.
"What's wrong?"
He shook his head. "I didn't think you knew who I was."

We continued talking and soon the sun went down and the streetlights came on, casting orange circles on the sidewalks and streets. Tre looked over his shoulder. He pulled away from me and walked back a few steps. "What?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I-I have to go," he said quickly.
"No, wait," I begged, "Can't you stay a little longer, please?"

He shook his head and continued to back away. "No, I must leave, now," he insisted.
"Oh come one, please?"
He shook his head once more. "Listen Kali, I like you," he said, "I really, really like you, but I have to go. You don't want to be with a guy like me. I don't want to hurt you. I'm sorry, but I must go." And with that he turned around and ran out of my sight.
