The Best, Yet Worst Summer Ever, chapter 4
Dani walked over to Jill's house where Jake was. When she walked in through the door, she could see him and Jill's brother, Sam in the living room writing on paper. Dani assumed they were writing lyrics. Sam was in a band called The End Is Where I Am. Dani didn't know Jake was in it too. Sam plays lead guitar.
Jill came walking down the stairs and whispered in Dani's ear. "So, are you gonna tell him?"
"I want to...but...I don't know..." Dani whispered back.
"If you think you're not ready...you don't have to do it..." Jill told Dani. "But...he's got to find out sooner or later."
Dani walked into the room. Followed by Jill. "Hey, I remember you!" Jake said loudly to Dani and winked at her.
"Yeah, umm...what are you guys up to?" Dani said shyly.
"Nothing much...just writing lyrics. Have you met Jake before? He plays bass in our band and might I add...I think he's gonna be the next Mike Dirnt!" Sam said as he wrote down a line of a song.
"I'm not that good, am I?" Jake said in a sarcastic tone. "Yes...we definitely met before, didn't we hun?"
Dani felt her cheeks turning red so she turned her head don to stare at her Converse. "Yeah..." she said before Sam could make accusations that probably would've been true.
Jill joined the conversation. "Umm, Jake, how long have you been in the band?"
"About a week or more. I can't wait 'till I'm done college. Then I can focus on the band and stuff. Of course, I'll have a part time job." Jake went on talking about his aspiration of becoming a famous bassist and touring with bands like Green Day and My Chemical Romance.
After hearing about his ideal future, Dani felt guilty. How can he achieve his dream of being a star when he has a kid to drag along with him everywhere he goes. He would be too busy with changing diapers to even go to band practice.
She walked out of the room and went inside the bathroom. Jill knocked on the door and walked in to find Dani sitting on the toilet crying. "I can't do it!" Dani said wiping a tear. "I can't tell him I'm pregnant. It will ruin his career."
"Dani...what about you? You're in high school! Before this pregnancy, you had it all! You are smart! You're beautiful! Colleges want people like you! You could've had an amazing future! You still can! You just have to stop putting everyone else's dreams and wants before yours!" Jill comforted her.
Dani looked up at Jill. Her eyeliner and mascara dripping down her face. "Jill, you don't know what it's like? You've never had to go through this before."
"Dani, that doesn't matter. What matters is you're going to have a child and you need a father to support it. I know Jake seems a little too in a dream but he doesn't know about you being pregnant with his kid. I'm sure when he finds out, he'll take responsibility." Jill's words were working.
Dani had stopped crying. "Okay, fine...I'll tell him...but not right away," Dani added."I want to spend some time with him a little first and actually get to know him better... although I am starting to remember what he was like in bed..." She laughed slightly.
Jill laughed with her. "You know...The Green Day concert is coming up... Why don't you give him my ticket?"
"But?! Don't you want to come?! Their your favourite band!" Dani said shocked that Jill would pass up the chance to see the best fucking band on the planet.
"Don't worry... I'll buy my own ticket," Jill answered quickly. "Did you really think I would pass up an opportunity like that?!"
Dani just laughed. "At least I have something to look forward to."
