Broken Hearts, Torn up letters, and the Story of a Lonely Girl., chapter 3

It's freezing.
But it's the desert.
What to do?
Maybe we'll see a body.
Maybe we'll see a few.
I shook.
Did you?

-Next morning- Amanda's POV-

I woke up and turned the goddamn alarm clock off. I dragged myself out of bed, grabbed my clothes, and got in the shower. I can't believe I met Green Day yesterday. It feels like no big deal but it doesn't. Confusing, I know. Anyway, I dried my hair and straightened it and then got dressed. I cleaned up the bathroom and walked in my room. I had posters hanging everywhere. I grabbed socks out of my drawer and put them on. I grabbed my old, black Chuck's and put them on. I tied them and then grabbed my pass that had my key and my ID on it. I took my car keys and walked out the door. I dragged myself down the stairs and out to my car. I started it up and drove to work. I pulled in the parking lot and got out. Ian, Jakob, and Corey were all there already. I smiled and walked in.

Ian, Corey, and Jakob looked so much alike. Ian and Corey have spikey brown hair with blonde in it but Corey recently but red in his. Jakob has hair like Jade Puget's from AFI. He recently put pink in his hair. They all have brown eyes and have snake bites. Corey has his nose pierced too and Jakob has his top lip pierced too. They're all punk and totally awesome. I've known them since middle school.

I signed in and went to the register where I normally go. I sat on the stool and smiled. Unfortunately I got bored soon after that. Ian and Corey came in through the back door with a bunch of huge boxes.

"Hey Mini!" Ian called to me. I smiled at waved. I jumped off the stool and went over to help them.
"What's all this?" I asked.
"More crap." Corey said.
"I can see that. Didn't we just get shit last week?" I asked.
"Yea, but Karl ordered more because the website he put up and shit." Corey said and they both put the boxes in the back room. I followed them in.
"Man, that guy sucks. Anyway, where's Jake?" I asked.
"Outside. Talking to some guy. I forget who." Ian said.
"Figures. That kid can't shut up." I said and Ian and Corey laughed.

"So, how have you been?" Corey asked.
"Really good actually." I said. Ian and Corey both stared at me.
"Seriously?" Ian asked.
"Yea. I left the family dinner thing and even broke one of my mom's plates." I said.
"That's really good?" Corey asked.
"Well, not that part. But, when I was crying at the park, you'll never guess who I met." I said.
"A really hot guy like always?" Corey said. Ian laughed and I stared at him, smiling.
"Yes, but this guy was awesome. He even talked to me." I said. Corey gasped.
"Name?" Ian asked.
"Billie." I said.
"You didn't get his last name?" Corey asked, unpacking boxes.
"Yea, I did. But you will never believe it." I said.
"Do tell." Corey said.
"Fine. I met Billie Joe Armstrong in a fucking park yesterday and I actually went back to his house and met Mike and Tre." I said and smiled. They stopped at stared at me.
"You're kidding." Corey said.
"No. I'm serious." I said.
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes!" I said, and then my cell phone rang. I looked at it, smiled and picked it up, walking out of the room. Ian and Corey followed, trying to listen.

"Hello?" I said.
"Hey you!" Tre shouted.
"Hey Tre." I said, laughing a little.
"What's up?" He asked.
"Work. You?" I asked.
"Boredom." Tre said.
"I see. My friends don't believe me that I met you yesterday." I said.
"Want me to talk to them?" He asked.
"Sure." I said and handed the phone to Corey. Him and Ian both listened.
"Hello? Oh shit, really? What's up man? No, I thought she was lying." Corey said. I just smiled as Ian stared. I smiled. A few minutes later, Corey gave the phone back to me, smiling.
"Told you. Hi again Tre." I said and sat at the counter with the phone.
"Dude... ... and you met him at a park??" Corey asked and I nodded my head.
"Now go and unpack your boxes." I said. They laughed and went back into the back room.

"Please."
"No."
"Please."
"No."
"PLEASE!?!?!" Tre asked again.
"NO!!!" I tried not shouting.
"Why?" Tre whined.
"Because Tre... I don't wanna start anything like that." I said. Yea, Tre was trying to get me to go out somewhere with him. Figures.
"It's not!!! Come on, please???" Tre asked.
"I'll see about it. Tell me about the details first." I said.
"No. You say yes first and I'll tell you the details." Tre said.
"I'll hang up on you." I said.
"OKAY! Okay, fine. You win." He said.
"Yay me!" I said. He laughed.
"Alright. Well, I was going to take you out for dinner and I would pay. And I would drive. And I would... I don't know what else." He said. I laughed.
"Anywhere fancy?" I asked.
"Only if you want it to be." Tre said.

"No. I really don't want it to be fancy. I don't have any good clothes. Plus, I'll feel bad." I said.
"Oh nonsense. A girl like you has at least one thing that's nice in the back of her closet." Tre said. I smiled.
"I don't. Unless you want me to wear sparkly pink pants." I said. He laughed.
"Doesn't sound too bad. You know what?" He asked.
"What?"
"I'll take you out shopping." Tre said.
"No, you don't have to do that." I said.
"But I am. No matter what. I'll drag you if I have to." Tre said. I laughed.
"Seriously Tre. You don't have to."
"Shut up. I want to. And you're coming." Tre said.
"Tre..."
"Don't 'Tre' me. You're coming shopping with me and you're going to dinner with me. When do you get off work?" Tre asked.
"I get off at 5:00." I said.
"Good. Umm lunch break?" Tre asked.
"12. I only get a half hour." I said.
"Good enough. I'm coming to get you at 12. We're going shopping and then at 5: 30, I'm coming to pick you up. Ready or not." Tre said.
"Tre... " I said but he hung up. I sighed and put my phone away.

Just as I put my phone away some guy came in with his son and they both walked up to the counter.

"Hi. Need any help today?" I asked.
"Yea. I'm here to pick up a guitar." He said.
"Name?" I asked.
"Mathew Scott." He said. I looked it up on the computer and he was getting this custom Fender Strat.
"Alright. Hold on." I said, got up and went to the back room. There was stuff everywhere.
"Hey. What's going on?" Ian asked, smiling and trying to put together a drum kit. I sighed.
"You guys need to seriously clean up. Oh, and I need an order for a custom Fender strat. Umm Mathew Scott." I said.
"Did we get that one yet?" Corey asked, looking at Ian.
"We should have. Jakob brought it in." Ian said.
"Where is that kid?" I asked.
"Bathroom. You tell him not to eat a breakfast burrito and he doesn't listen." Corey said, getting up. I laughed and followed Corey.
"Sorry, It'll take a minute." I said to Matt, walking by him to the bathroom with Corey. Corey knocked on the door.
"Jakob? Where'd you put the Fender for Mathew Scott?" Corey asked.
"Back room. I put it in the closet so it's safe." Jakob mumbled through the door.
"Okay thanks." Corey said and I followed him to the back room again. I stood by the doorway while Corey jumped over a whole bunch of crap to get to the closet. He opened it up and pulled out the guitar. It was sweet. He handed it to me and I walked out.

"Okay, is this it?" I asked, just making sure, and setting the guitar on the counter.
"Yea, that's it." Matt said.
"Alright, here you go. Enjoy." I said.
"Thank you." He said and smiled.
"You already paid, right?" I asked.
"Yea, I did when I ordered it." He said.
"Got a receipt?" I asked.
"Oh, yea." He said and pulled a receipt out of his pocket. I looked at it.
"Alright. Have a nice day." I said. The guy pulled the guitar off the counter and called for his kid. The kid came running over from looking at drum kits.
"Hey kiddo." He said.
"Hey daddy? Can I get a drum set?" He asked.
"Maybe." He said and they walked out. Sometimes I wish my parents treated me like that. Anyway, I went to the back room to help Ian and Corey.

Jakob finally came out of the bathroom like fifteen minutes later and came to the back room.

"Man, I feel good." He said, putting his hand on his stomach.
"I told you not to eat that thing." Corey said.
"I was curious." Jakob said and the smell from the bathroom filled the whole place.
"Oh my god!! Jesus, Jakob!!" Ian shouted. We all covered half our faces in our shirts. I sprayed fabreeze throughout the place and opened the front door.

12:00 came around and Tre came walking in happily. Corey helped me hide in the backroom. Tre stood at the front desk, dinging the bell. Corey went out slowly and stood on the other side of the counter.

"Yea?" Corey asked.
"Where's Amanda?" Tre asked.
"She left already." Corey said.
"No." Tre said.
"Yea. Seriously, she left to go meet you at the mall." Corey said.
"Are you serious?" Tre asked.
"As a heart attack." Corey said. Tre sighed.
"I didn't even tell her where I was going." Tre said. I snuck out of the back room.
"She just supposed you were going to the mall. I don't know." Corey said as I snuck up behind Tre. I poked him and he turned around. I smiled at him and he smirked.
"Bitch." He said, still smirking.
"Is that the way you talk to a lady that you're going to take out tonight? Or do I need to change my mind? I said, smirking right back at him.
"No. Come on let's go lady. We're wasting valuable shopping time." Tre said, pulling me by the hand out the door.
"I'll be back!" I called to them as I got dragged out the door, almost tripping over my own feet. I caught up with Tre

He pulled me to his SUV and opened the passenger door for me. I smiled and got in. He closed the door behind me and then ran over to his door and got in. He started up the SUV and drove out of the parking lot.
