Bury Me In Black, chapter 7

As time ticked by slowly, Kelsie got more and more drowsy. Or perhaps it was just because she was so bored, she felt tired but really wasn't. She sat against the hospital playing games with herself. She counted the number of blue t-shirts, the number of females, the number of children, and pretty much anything she could think of to pass time.

As the crowds started increasing and more people were entering the hospital, Kelsie decided that it was probably time to go get Travis. But what if he didn't want to leave the hospital, as dreadful as they are, even they are more comfortable than the streets. The thought of this worried her. She slowly stood up, trying to push the thought to the back of her mind. Kelsie slumped into the hospital, expecting the worst, but hoping for the best. She bit her lip and walked up to the doctor she had been talking to the day before. She opened her mouth, but before she could get a word out the doctor said, "Just in there," and point Kelsie towards his room.

She walked in slowly, fingers crossed. As soon as Travis realised she was there, he shot up in his bed and held his arms outstretched for her. She obeyed his gesture and went over to "welcome him back" so to speak, with a tight hug. They were already so close though they barely knew each other. They were just the type that clicked.

They stayed in a tight embrace for what seemed like an eternity. She didn't want to let go, it made her feel like she would lose him again. Just that short time without him was way too long. She needed to be with him to feel complete, to feel like a whole person and not just some girl on the streets.

"Will you come back? I can understand if you don't want to given the condi-" Kelsie started saying almost running her words together, she was talking so fast, but Travis interrupted her.

"Just shut up," he said completely straight-faced. Kelsie opened her mouth slightly, clearly hurt at what he said, after all she had done. "And get me the hell out of here," he continued, giving her a heart-warming smile. Kelsie relaxed a little and a chill shot up her spine. He was so perfect. She smiled and nodded, taking his hand and leading him out of the building. She half-nodded in appreciation to some of the staff on the way out.

"Where exactly are we going?" Travis asked still being led by Kelsie. She just shrugged and kept walking at a quick pace, making it seem like wherever they were going was important. Travis frowned slightly and reached into his inner jacket pocket for his drumsticks. Not there. "Kelsie," he started, getting anxious, "Where are my drumsticks?" She stopped and smiled, handing over his drumsticks. One of the nurses had given them to her to look after the previous night. Travis let out a long breath of air. He could stay calmer now.

Before they knew it they were at a music shop. It was nothing fancy, in fact, it was a pretty old building. It looked as if it had seen the two world wars. Kelsie smiled and stepped inside. Inside was much more appealing than outside. Everything on display was sparkling clean and generally in good condition. Kelsie straight away moved over to the guitars and began pacing up and down the aisles. 'Does she play guitar?' Travis thought, as he hadn't heard about it.

She stood there browsing for a while, and Travis decided to go check out the drum kits. They all were much too expensive for him new, so he looked at the second hand kits. He walked down past them, coming to an abrupt stop at one particular drum kit. All he could do was stare. Who knows how long he was standing there, but when Kelsie had decided it was time to go she came up beside him. "Trav, what you staring at that kit for?" she asked in puzzlement. He blinked a bit before finally answering.

"It was mine. And my bloody parents sold it."
