Oakland School, chapter 5
It was about three AM when I got my first call. I let it ring for about a minute until I answered it to see who it was. It was Tre.
"What!" I answered sounding really pissed.
"Is that how you answer the phone?" Tre said while giggling.
"Yeah, why?" Sam said. There was a dead silence.
"Well, um... what are you doing tomorrow? After all, it is a Saturday," Tre finally asked.
"What kind of sick person are you? Are you not human? Do you not sleep? Or is it that you have no heart? Because if you did you wouldn't call me at three AM!" Sam said, then hung up the phone violently. Tre giggled. He picked the phone up again, and called her again.
Next Day.
"And then she was like, three AM!" Tre said, laughing. Mike and Billie also laughed. "So you called her five more times after that scene?" Billie asked, still laughing.
"Yeah, she just answered and yelled, three AM! And then hung up," Tre said. "Lets go over to her house," Billie said.
Tre rang the doorbell. "Oh, hey boys!" Mrs.Toole said.
"Hey!" They said in unison. "Is Sam home?" Mike asked.
"Yes she is, but she is in the pool. You guys can go get your swimsuits and swim if you'd like," Mrs.Toole said.
"That would be cool," Billie said.
And they all went and got their swimsuits. When they came back, they stood on the back gate, and peaked over at Sam in the pool. She was in a blue bikini, with black sunglasses, and her blonde hair with blue streaks in a bun type style. She was laying on a raft. "Woah!" Tre said.
Just then they both climbed the fence, and ran to the pool, then jumped in it. They made big splashes and awoke Sam. "What the hell are you little fuckers doing?!" Sam yelled.
"Swimming!" Tre said.
"But...But...I didn't invite you!" Sam said while she pushed her sunglasses up on her head more.
"Of course you didn't, your mom did!" Tre said.
"Well leave me alone," Sam said. I was relaxing on my raft for about five minutes. Then my mom came out with a glass.
"Here ya go," Mrs.Toole said.
"Why thank you mother!" I said happily.
"Look Sam, me and your dad are going out, we'll be back around three in the afternoon. See ya!" My mom said and walked away.
"See ya!" I said.
"What's that?" Mike said.
"What?! Is there a bug?!" She screamed.
"No in the glass, what are ya drinking?" Billie said.
"Oh, its a rum and coke. Its not a school night, so I can drink!" She said, taking a sip.
"You're allowed to drink?! Lucky! My dad would kick my ass, if I did it...in front of him," Tre said.
"Hey, I'm Irish, I'm allowed to drink! My grandfather back in Ireland owns a pub, and back in Pittsburgh, they love drinking!" Sam said.
"Well, can I have a sip?" Tre said giving her the "puppy eyes".
"Well... fine, just a teenie sip," I said. Hey, he's cute!
"Holy shit, this is strong! It burns the tongue!" Tre screamed.
"Hey, it's just the way I like it! If you ask me, its not strong enough!" I snapped at him.
I took my drink and got out of the pool. I went inside and got dressed and everything. I went back downstairs to my kitchen to make another drink. Hey, I was thirsty when I was up there. Tre, Mike, and Billie were raiding my cabinets, back in regular clothes. "What the hell do you think you guys are doing?" I asked. "Looking for alcohol. It should be hidden, like most people do," Billie said.
"Well, you're looking in the wrong place. It's in the fridge, and when we run out, there's more in the bar downstairs." So we made our drinks and talked or whatever.
I called my friends that were girls, and they called their friends that were guys. Most of my girl friends and their guy friends are dating. They arrived, they got drinks, and whatever. "So you said you play a lot of things, like drums and stuff," Tre said.
"Yeah," I said.
"Then where do you practice?" He asked again.
"In my basement," I said back.
"No garage?" Adie, one of my bestest friends said.
Okay look, Adie or Adrienne, is older than most of us. She has a crush on Billie and he likes her back. Kristen is dating a guy name Steve. Sarah is dating some one named Kevin. And this girl Anastasia has been dating Mike for a bit, after Sarah went to Kevin. Well anywho onto the story.
"Well, I could practice in the garage, but one, I would have to carry all my instruments to there, and two, I'd have to move my car," I answered.
"Sweet, what kind of ride?" One of the guy friends said.
"Black corvette I think...I'm not much of a car person," I said.
"Who gave it to you?" Mike asked.
"My uncles..." I replied.
"Well, lets go to your basement," Adie said.
When we arrived, all they saw were instruments set up perfectly. Immediately, the girls squeezed on the couch, and floor, and the guys took the sideline. Then Tre took my drums, Billie one of my guitars, and Mike, one of my basses. I took my guitar, it was a baby blue, like all my other things I have.
"Okay, well, do you know any AC/DC?" I asked.
"Sure, what do you want us to play?" Billie asked.
"Um...TNT," I replied. So we started playing. I didn't play much because I had the solo parts, that Angus Young has in it. When that song was finished, Billie asked, "Who taught you to play?"
I replied, "One of my uncles." I said.
"Who?" Mike said.
"Uncle Angus," I said.
"What!" I answered sounding really pissed.
"Is that how you answer the phone?" Tre said while giggling.
"Yeah, why?" Sam said. There was a dead silence.
