What do you mean?, chapter 5

Sorry again for the long wait! I just have a really shitty dial up and so much crap going on, so, anyways, here's the next chapter. Enjoy!

___

"You can't wear that to school. I won't let you leave the house wearing...that!" My mom raised her hands in a gesture towards my outfit.

"Well, what do you expect? A pink skirt, tube top, and go-go boots?" I said sarcastically.

"YES!" my mother cried. "Why do you have them?"

I groaned and rolled my eyes, walking out of the door anyways. She started screaming at me, bitch that she was, and I put my mp3 player on to "Hitchin' a Ride", drowning her out completely. The school was a short walk away, but it seemed like hours since I got lost twice and ended up at some Adult Video store.

When I finally got to the school, I saw that it was completely better than I thought-a lot of the people I saw looked easy going and fun, and a guy even commented on my hoodie in a GOOD way. It was a Green Day hoodie, so I wasn't that surprised.

I walked into the office and filled out my registering forms, then realizing I was late, got a late slip and headed for homeroom. My bag still over my shoulders, I ran in and nearly walked right into the teacher.

"Cecilia, I assume? Good. Why are you late?"

"I got lost, miss."

"That's Mrs., Mrs. Bailey to you. Class," she turned to the class, "this is Cecilia. Cecilia, why don't you tell us about yourself?"

I was offended by her pushiness and her rude tone. I have a horrible anger issue, so it was no surprise that I replied, "Why don't you stay out of my business, and tell me where I'm supposed to sit?"

I heard a chuckle from the back of the room, and looked over to see a boy with blackish hair that was died with purple streaks. It was kind of jagged, and covering parts of his brown eyes. He was wearing a My Chemical Romance sweater.

"You think that's funny, Mr. Hamlin? Good. You can show Cecilia around for the rest of the day and have a desk next to her."

As if that was a bad thing. Well, Mrs. Bitchy made it out to sound like I was the devil, anyways. I headed to the back of the room and sat next to him. While the teacher rambled on about the year ahead of us, I made a comment about his sweater.

"My Chem, eh?" I said.

"Green Day, eh?" he replied, to which I remarked about them being the best band in the history of bands, and he agreed. He actually agreed.

We got into a conversation about music, and instruments, and what our interests were, and things like that. I was so wrapped up that I almost forgot about not wanting friends here, and trying to avoid everyone. Luke had told me over the phone that he had met a couple of guys at his new school, and he hoped that I would find friends too.
Well, maybe I would.

"So you're Cecilia. I'm Derek."

"Great. By the way, the bell's going to ring in a couple of minutes. What do we have next? Dumbfuck of a secretary spilt coffee on mine."

"English."

"Thrills."

"So where do you live, Cecilia?"

"I live over near twenty-first. Why?"

"Really? I live down the street from there! Wanna hang out after school?"

I was about to answer him when the bell rang, and I stood up with my stuff, nodding simply. He smiled and grabbed his stuff too. A couple of girls walked by us, laughing and making jokes about us going out and stuff, but it didn't matter. I hardly heard them anyways.

At Lunch

I started walking into the cafeteria, only to be called to wait while Derek caught up with me. He finally caught up and pointed to a table where we would be sitting. It was across from the girls who had made fun of us, and of course, their boyfriends, but I didn't mind. As long as they left us alone.
We sat down and opened our lunches, and started discussing music some more when we were interrupted.

"So, are you two, like, going out now? 'Cause that's just so...cute!"

"Melaine, we aren't going out. We're friends."
That kind of hit me. A friend? Already? I was a bit perplexed, but I nodded and pointed at her table and said, "Yeah, so, like, go sit, like, back down and, you know, like, piss off?"

The cafeteria went dead silent, and I wondered what I had done wrong. Derek was nervously laughing and kind of glanced around.

"You bitch!"

Melaine advanced towards me and threw a punch, to which I punched her in the face, and she ran away crying to the bathroom, a whole bunch of people following her. Derek looked like he was about to either start crying or burst out into laughter.

"Oh shit...that's my sister!" he said to me, kind of awed.

"Oh my God, I'm so sorry! But she was going to hit me and..." I sighed and looked down. The cafeteria was mostly empty. "You don't wanna hang out after school now...right?"

"No way! My sister's a fucking bitch!" Derek said. He slapped me five and went back to eating.

I was personally kind of scared about the situation. A teacher called over the P.A. system for me and Derek to go down to the office. Not like Derek did anything wrong.

We went down to the office to find Melaine, or whatever, sitting there with an ice pack on her face and a tube of lipstick in her hand.

"There she is! Her and my brother! She hit me! And my brother didn't even stop her! My own flesh and blood!"

The principal told us to sit down.

"Mom's gonna be pissed," Melaine hissed at us.

Derek rolled his eyes.

"Now what's this all about?"

"She tried to punch me!" I cried, trying to defend myself. "It was self defence. I'm not gonna just sit here and take shit from her!"

"Watch your language in here!" the principal growled.

After a long talk, Melaine was allowed to leave, and Derek and I were told to sit down while the principal called our parents.
As soon as the principal left, Derek left as well.

"Where are you going!?" I asked, tugging his shirt.

"I disconnected the phone wire. Come on, let's make a break for it!"

I looked at him like he was crazy.

"Unless you're too pussy." He grinned. He reminded me of Luke. He had a gorgeous smile too. He really was good looking.

"Alright, alright."

"YESSSS!"

We slipped out of the office and grabbed our stuff, running down the road to wherever Derek was taking me. He grabbed my hand and ran, and I followed as quickly as I could, trying hard not to fall. He was considerably taller then me, so his footsteps were bigger then mine. His hand felt warm in mine, kind of like it was meant to be there.

"Where are we going?"

"To a friend's house!" he replied, and I wondered what friend would be home during school hours.

We came onto my street, and I squeaked at the site of my house. The car was gone. She had probably gone to pick me up. Then we ended up on Billie Joe's door step...

"Wait, Derek...I know him! He's my neighbour! I met him yesterday."

Derek grinned at me, one of his heart-melting grins. I had known him for about three hours, and it felt like I had known him for life. I had never had any other friends but Luke, so I didn't know exactly how to talk to him and stuff...but when Billie Joe came to the door, I felt less nervous.

"Woah, Derek, you got her in trouble already? Hurry up, her mom might be back soon." Billie Joe beckoned us inside, and we followed hastily. Derek collapsed on the couch, pulling me down with him.

"Hey, I didn't get her into trouble. She did it all on her own! And I'm so damn proud of her, she punched my sister!"

"Wait, how do you two know each other?" I asked.

"He used to work at the recording studios, feeding the fish, and going on coffee runs, and shit. I guess we just got close."

I smiled.

"So, you punched Melaine, eh? Good girl." He tossed me a twenty dollar bill. I laughed and put it in my pocket.

"Something tells me I should punch Melaine more often!" I said, looking at the bill. Billie Joe and Derek laughed.

"So how long can we stay here?" I asked.

"Whenever. You can stay overnight again if you want."

"Well... "

Derek looked at me, and as if an idea had popped into his head, which I was right, one did, his eyes lit up, and he looked at Billie Joe eagerly.
