Another Fivtive Romance, chapter 8

The guard came back and he gave me a backstage pass that he told me I could use throughout the festival. It was the first time I had a real one in my hand, if you don't count the Rookie festival my school is arranging. I was an artist-host there and spent more time backstage then anywhere else.

We walked in and it wasn't much difference from the rest of the festival except that there were a lot of busses belonging to different famous artists like Audioslave, Fightstar and Franz Ferdinand. We walked up to the bus belonging to My Chemical Romance and Gerard slowly opened the door and let me in. It was like I had expected, I had known about the band not holding such good hygiene on the road but it didn't bother me much. I couldn't see the other members anywhere, as he had read my mind he came up behind me and said:
"The others are out partying in the bear tent."
"I didn't think you guys drank alcohol anymore."
"Not me" he answered. "But the others drink a bit still, mostly to be social."
I nodded and looked around a bit more.
"Was it as you had expected?" he asked
"Well, yeah. I'm just a bit curious," I said and turned to face his beautiful eyes.
"About what?"
"Well, how come you bring me, someone you don't know, a fan atop of that, backstage to your bands tour bus?"
He laughed a bit and then said:
"I just wanted to get to know you a bit better, as I wanted the first time I saw you, in the coffeehouse. You reminded me of someone from the past, the first girl I fell in love with actually."
I was surprised as I listened to him. He continued:
"I was an outcast in school and she was one of the popular girls and she just stool my heart like I didn't think any girl like that could do."
"I'm sorry to tell you that I was too an outcast."
"Don't be sorry for that, being popular doesn't automatically make you a nice person," he said.
"It could really be the opposite, and now when it's hip to be the outsider there are many women and girls pretending that they were or is an outcast even thought that's not true. Just to be cool I guess," I said
"I have seen it among the fans but it's not something you say. Either way, they look up to me and I don't want to let any of them down, you know?"
"I understand, it's your job to make the fans want to listen to your music and message even though that means sometimes not being yourself."
"Well, I am myself."
"I mean your entire self, both the good and bad sides, when it comes to anything."
He was quite and I felt like I had said something wrong.
"Sorry, did I say something wrong?"
"No, not really. It just got me thinking about my old self," he said with a non-present look.
"No one is perfect; we all have our skeletons in the closet."
He smiled, now straight into my eyes and I was about to drown inside of them, but he turned away and said:
"You want to see my drawings? I've brought a few with me."
"I'd love to," I said with a smile and followed him to where the kitchen was and he showed me the drawings and I was fascinated by them. Some of which would be a part of his own comic book with an action figure saving the dark world of vampires from destruction, one like the one on the cover of the Three Cheers album, but not the same angle and even more details.
"Wow, I love the darkness in this one" I said as I picked up a drawing of a cat crying with blood dripping from a wound in the stomach. It was the exact same type of drawing as the Three Cheers albums cover as well, drawn with the same technique and material, even colours.
"It's one of the options for album covers for our next CD."
"It's gorgeous," I said and felt my voice deep with compassion for the beauty of the artwork.
"Thanks, I guess," he said, appreciative. "Are you painting yourself?"
"A little, but mostly just sketching. I have some of them on a community on the internet so people can see it."
"Wanna show me?" he asked as he picked down a laptop from a cupboard.
"Erm, ok..." I said and became a bit nervous by the thought of showing my art to him. He was so good of what he did and I was just an amatory.
I logged on to helgon.net with my password and nickname.
"TheMinority huh? So do you like Green Day?" Gerard said with a smile.
"Yes they are one of my favourite bands. How could you tell?"
He just laughed and then pointed at the screen when he saw that I had put up the lyrics for Headfirst For Halos on my profile presentation. I went to the gallery and showed him my imitation of the I'm Not Ok (I Promise) artwork.
"Wow, it's really great!" he said with big enthusiasm and watched the sketches intensly.
The exact same reaction came when I showed him my imitation of the Three Cheers cover.
"Who's that?" he wondered when I showed him my Nemi artworks.
"It's Nemi, a Norwegian gothic girl from a comic. She's one of my heroes."
"She looks like something I want to read about. Not all angels have an electric harp with flames and smoke cigarettes."
I laughed and he did too.
"That's it," I said and logged off.
That was when my phone started playing Welcome to Paradise again. I picked it up and answered in Swedish.
"Hello."
"Hi, it's Lilly. We were just wondering when you're planning on coming back. It's kinda late and we want to sleep!"
"Ok," I said looking at the computer clock. It showed 22:30 and I was beginning to feel tired too.
"I guess we can meet outside the small entrance by the west side of the area in a half-hour or so?"
"Ok, sure because it's not easy to find the way back to the tent in this darkness. Vicky will come and meet you."
"Ok, I'll see you later, bye."
"Bye."
I hung up and turned towards Gerard. I didn't have to say anything; he just knew that I had to go.
"My friend will meet me by the west entrance in half an hour," I said and I could hear myself how disappointed my voice sounded when I said that.
"I guess I'll see you more during the festival, if you want to of course."
"I wouldn't mind," I said and looked up on his face and could feel his warm breath against my chin.
