The Chosen One, chapter 3
The light faded. Snow Star put the crystal back in the cave wall.
"Come," she said. "It's late. You must be tired." She led them down a corridor that led to another cavern. Another dragon was there. It was purple with green horns and ridges, and a green spike at the end of its tail. Its eyes were a deep green.
"I'm Zephyr, Spirit of Transformation," the dragon said.
"You guys have titles, too?" Tre asked.
Zephyr nodded. "I can transform objects into anything I desire. I can also transform myself into anything I want."
Tre nodded, then turned to Snow Star."What about you?"
"I'm the Protector Of Purity," she responded. "I'll come whenever you call me."
"That's helpful," Mike said.
Snow Star nodded.
While they were talking, Justine was helping Zephyr make the cavern more comfortable. Then, Zephyr noticed that Justine was staring into space.
"Justine, what's wrong?" he asked.
Justine jumped. "Nothing," she said. Zephyr knew better.
"Come on, tell me what's wrong."
"Nothing!" Justine said. Zephyr just glared at her. "OK! You got me!" Zephyr smiled.
"It's Billie. I can't stop thinking about him," she said.
"Sound's like someone's smitten!" Zephyr said. Justine glared at him. 'You tell anyone, you're dead meat!" she said, then she walked off.
**Later that night...**
Billie was wide awake. He couldn't stop thinking about what Snow Star had told him. Then, he heard footsteps. They weren't human footsteps, though. They were bigger than human footsteps. They were getting closer to him. He pretended to be asleep. The footsteps stopped right next to him. Then, he felt sonething nudge him.
"I know you're not asleep, Chosen One," said a gentle voice. Billie looked up. He saw the outline of a dragon. It wasn't Zephyr or Snow Star, though.
"What do you want?" he asked.
"Follow me," the dragon said. "There is something I need to show you."
Billie followed the dragon through countless corridors. They finally stopped in a cavern that was different than all the others. It was covered in bright green emeralds. A rock was in the center of the cavern. A sword was jutting out of the center of it.
"Before we go on, I'm Quicksilver, Keeper Of Secrets. I protect the many secrets that are contained in this cave, Nightingale being one of them," the dragon said. It was serpent-like with white wings. It was a light bronze color with magenta spots, and dark pink ridges going down it's back. It had two horns pointing backwards, and two horns similar to those of a bull. It had clear blue eyes.
"And...?" Billie asked.
"You must pull Nightingale from the stone," Quicksilver stated.
"I thought so," Billie said, then he walked up to the rock. He put his hand on Nightingale's handle. The emeralds inlayed in the hilt began to glow. They sent a surge of energy through Billie's body. He could feel himself getting stronger. He pulled Nightingale from the stone. The surge of energy got stronger. For a split second, Billie saw black scales instead of skin. Then, everything went dark.
