Tripping Over Drum Sets, chapter 18
Everything was black. What was going on? The right side of my head hurt too. Wait, what's that? Why is there a light there. Hey it's a light! Maybe, if I go to it, I will see someone and they can tell me where to go from here. Wow, my head and entire right ride hurt a lot right now, but mostly my shoulder. I hear... sirens. Screams? Cries? What the hell. Well, I have a head ache now. Wait, what's this? Blood? Why is there blood on my hand? Wow, that light is really, really bright right now. I can hear talking. It's getting louder and louder. Wow, the sirens are really loud too. *boom* My eyes shot open and there I was in the hospital with blood all over my body. My head was really sore, it was making my right eye blind.
"What happened?" I said trying to sit up, but I couldn't.
"She's awake! What's your name?" said a woman in a white uniform.
"Saidi. Where am I?" I said. "What happened?" But I didn't get an answer. She put a mask over my face and I waited for something to happen. "My head hurts."
"We're gonna fix you okay?" she said. Fix me? I didn't need fixing. I was healthy. Then something started flowing through that mask that made me sleepy.
"Let's get her ready for emergency surgery!" said one of the doctors. Surgery!? I don't need surgery, but I passed out so I couldn't tell them anything.
*Tre's View*
I was waiting at the desk. As soon as we heard what had happened, we rushed to the hospital, waiting to see how she was doing. Adi was in Billie Joe's arm, crying. Mike and Billie Joe were silent. And I. Well, I was pacing back and forth, outside her room, in front of the desk, and around the other three.
"How is she? How is Saidi? You've got to tell me she lived!" I asked the first doctor that came out of Saidi's room. He looked down and frowned at his clip board.
"I did all I could do. I'm sorry." He said putting a hand on my shoulder.
"You, mean..." I stuttered. He nodded.
"She's gone. I'm sorry." he said as he walked away. No. This can't be happening. No! I went to Billie Joe, Mike and Adi, who were sitting in the lobby. They all looked up at me. I looked down, tears welling up in my eyes.
"No. She- you mean- Saidi is-" Mike started. I nodded and started to cry. Billie Joe, and Mike started to cry too. Adi, who was already crying, cried even harder.
Why did this happen! I loved her! I screwed it up! Why! No!!! Saidi! NO!!!! Look at what I did. I lost my chance. She's dead now. And there's nothing I can do about it.
