Tripping Over Drum Sets, chapter 4
When I woke up it was about 12:00 pm and the sun was blazing in my eyes.
"Crap!" I said as I got up and ran to the phone. I dialed Maria's number and waited for an answer.
"Hello?" came a groggy voice.
"Maria? It's Saidi! I'm so sorry I didn't call last night!" I said apologetically.
"Yeah it's no biggie. Where were you?" she asked.
"You're not going to believe it! I met this guy on the plane named Frank but everyone calls him Tre, and he was really really sweet and totally good looking. Anyways, we exchanged phone numbers and then I hung out at his house after I unpacked And his house isn't very far away from my house! In fact it's pretty much across the street!" I said.
"Wait? Tre? What's his last name?" she asked.
"Tre Cool." I said.
"Oh my god! He's the drummer in Green Day! You lucky fucking bastard! I hate you now!" she said.
"Yeah. Anyways, we played truth or dare at his house with Mike and Billie Joe and Billie Joe's girlfriend Adrienne-" I was cut off again.
"Oh my god! You spent the night with Green Day! Go on! What happened in truth or dare?" she asked
"I made out with Tre in the shower and I ran naked down the street in front of them. And Billie Joe ate rotten food, and Mike kissed Billie Joe as a prank and then Mike got drunk afterwards, and Tre walked me home."
"You fucking made out with a fucking Green Day member! Oh my fucking God!" she screamed from the other line.
"Would you quit swearing?" I said. "It's not that big! They all saw me nude running down the street too!"
"What have you done with my friend!" Maria laughed. "Saidi would never do anything like that! That's fucking awesome! Oops sorry! I fucking swore again!"
"Yeah, well, I'm in my new house. It's pretty cool." I said, changing the subject. We began to talk and Maria seemed to forget about Green Day. I gave her my number and said that I needed to go and get something to eat because I was starving. I hung up the phone and went to the kitchen.
"What to eat? What to eat?" I asked myself. The phone rang again. I shut the refrigerator door and picked up the phone.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Saidi! It's me Tre. Wanna do something today?" came a voice from the other end. Fireworks went off inside my stomach.
"Yeah sure. What did you have in mind?" I asked.
"Well I'm not sure to be honest. I was thinking going uptown and shopping or whatever. Maybe a movie tonight?" he said sounding unsure.
"Yeah sure. Let's go uptown. I need to buy some new jeans anyways. Mine are tearing." I said as I crammed some cereal in my mouth. "When do you want me to meet you?"
"Uh. I'll come by in about 30 minutes and pick you up. Billie Joe and Adi and Mike are coming too. If you don't mind." he added quickly.
"No. The more the merrier!" I said as I finished my cereal.
"Great. See ya in about 30 minutes then."
"See you then." I answered back and hung up the phone. I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. I had really bad morning breath. After I did a breath check, I brushed my hair and pulled it into a ponytail. There were a couple things I never really did. Wearing my hair down was one of them. Swearing and fighting were the other two. I walked to my bedroom and quickly got dressed. About 5 minutes later there was a knock at the door. I answered the door to find Tre standing outside with Billie Joe, Adi and Mike in the back seat of his car.
"Hey you!" I said as I gave him a quick peck on the cheek.
"Hey. Ready to go?" he asked as he blushed a shade of red I'd never seen before.
Yup. Let me lock the door. Let's go!" I said as I locked the door and ran up beside Tre. I hopped in his green mustang and we headed down town. Once we got there Tre and Billie Joe started scanning the area.
"Where should we park?" asked Billie Joe.
"Uh. Right here! It's free and it's right in the middle of the city!" said Tre as he pulled into a free space. We all got out and made our way to a store. Adi ran up beside me and took me aside to talk while Tre, Mike and Billie Joe played around.
"You realize that Tre really likes you right?" she asked linking her arm through mine.
"I think so. Like last night when he walked me home I was really tired and I'm not sure if I was dreaming or not, but I think he said that he liked me more then friends." I replied. Adi smiled.
"Okay. You weren't dreaming. Tre really likes you. And I have a feeling that you really like him as well. You go all radiant and happy when you're around him." she said.
"I do?" I asked going embarrassed. Adi nodded and sniggered. "Do the others know?"
"Yeah. Billie Joe and I were talking while Tre went to sleep and Mike was passed out. Billie Joe was like, I think she likes him! And then Mike came to again and said, 'Tre should fuck that Saidi girl! She's really pretty!' and then passed out." she said. I laughed and turned around to check on the guys. Tre was rubbing his arm and Mike was laughing at him while Billie Joe jumped around him.
"I'll give him a chance. But he's asking me out. Not the other way around." I said. I was really old fashioned. Adi smiled and called for Billie Joe. He ran up and put his arm around her and she started whispering to him. Tre and Mike ran up and each side of me. "Where's the best place to shop?" I asked.
"Demin-palooza! It's the cheesiest name in the book, but the prices and style can't be beat." said Mike.
"That's where I got my shirt and shoes!" said Tre pointing to each article of clothing. I looked over to check on Adi and Billie Joe, who were in deep conversation, whispering back and forth to each other.
"Hey! Lovebirds! Get your asses over here! We're gonna go to Demin-palooza!" yelled Mike, snapping Billie Joe and Adi back to reality.
"Great! I love that place! Let's hurry up!" said Billie Joe as he and Adi ran to catch up. When we reached our destination, Tre hurried forward and opened the door for me.
"Thanks," I said as I walked by. Tre blushed and held it open for the rest of us. I didn't see it but Tre signaled for Mike to go off with Billie Joe and Adi. Tre walked with me for a while as we looked at different t-shirts and hoodies.
"Hey, you said you needed a pair of jeans. Let's go look at them." he said as he took my hand and led me to the jeans section. We spent about 20 minutes looking at jeans when I picked out about 5 pairs.
"Tre come to the dressing room with me. I wanna see how they look." I said. Tre shrugged and followed me to the dressing room area. I put on the first pair and came out. "How do you like 'em?" I asked as I spun around, giving Tre a 360 look.

On the last pair though, I called Tre in to 'help' me put my pants on, even though I could put them on fine by myself. He came in and locked the door. I smiled at him and put my arms over his neck. He smiled down on my and leant in for a kiss. Our lips slowly touched and his tongue slipped into my mouth. We ended up making out for about 10 minutes before I started to unbutton his shirt when he started working his way down my neck.
"Tre!? Saidi!? Where are you guys?" We heard Billie Joe say. We stopped making out and looked at each other. Our faces read the same. We've-been-caught! I took my pants off as fast as I could and put my older ones back on.
"I'm in here Billie Joe! I think Tre went to the bathroom or something." I said.
"Okay! Thanks! C'mon guys." Billie Joe answered. I bent down to see their legs walking away. Both Tre and I let out sighs of relief. We both gave silent laughs and I stepped out of the dressing room to make sure it was clear. There was no one there so I motioned for Tre to come out of the dressing room.
You go look for the guys and I'll go and pay for my stuff. Do you want to look for anything?" I asked.
"Nah. I got everything I need." he said as he buttoned his shirt up. He then left to find Billie Joe, Adi, and Mike. My purchase came to $35.76. Pretty good for 5 pairs of quality jeans. I waited by the door for Tre to come back. I thought about our close call in the dressing room. I don't know why I called him in to make out. But he was an amazing kisser. I had to admit that. I stared out the window and was soon surrounded by Billie Joe, Mike, Adi and Tre.
"Ready to go?" asked Adi. She had a bag and so did Billie Joe. I nodded and opened the door for everyone.
"I'm hungry!" whined Mike as we passed a restaurant.
"Yeah me too." said Billie Joe as he looked in his bag.
"Let's go grab a bit to eat then shall we?" asked Tre. Adi and I nodded our heads and let the guys lead us to a table in the restaurant. We found a nice little booth to sit in by the window and the guys ordered chicken noodle soup for all of us. We sat there silently slurping our soup. Then out of the corner of my eye, I saw a convenient store. I nudged Mike and pointed to it.
"What?" he said as he cocked his head in confusion.
"Billie Joe's dare last night. He has to follow through!" I whispered almost laughing. Mike smiled and finished up his soup.
"Billie Joe hurry up. We have to go." said Mike. We were all almost done our soup so Billie Joe just lifted it and drank the rest.
"Why do we have to go?" he asked wiping his mouth. Mike smiled again and pointed to the store on the other side of the street. "What about it-" he said but then shut up. "Shit." Mike laughed as hard as he could and Tre started too. Adi smiled and hugged Billie Joe.
"Let's go! I wanna watch this!" said Tre as he got up. We paid for our meal and raced across the street.
"Okay, go on Billie Joe!" said Mike. Billie Joe took a deep breath, went over to the birth control area and picked out a test. He bought it to the counter and looked at us. His face was bright red. Adi gave him a thumbs up and he turned to the clerk.
"Girlfriend pregnant?" the clerk asked.
"What girlfriend? I think I'm pregnant!" said Billie Joe forcing down a laugh. The clerk looked at him
"What?" he asked
"I think I might be pregnant! I can't believe I didn't use a condom! I'm so stupid! I'm only 17 years old! My life is ruined!" cried Billie Joe. " I just hope the test is negative!" At this point, Tre had to leave because he was laughing so hard. Adi and I were laughing too but not as hard as Mike, who had to hold onto the shelf. Billie Joe paid for the test and ran around the side of the counter.
"Wait! You're not allo-" started the clerk.
"You've made me the happiest person alive!" said Billie Joe as he hugged the clerk and ran out the door. We all followed and started to spill our guts laughing.
"That... was... the... greatest...thing...I've....ever....seen!" said Tre and Mike together. Adi and I were still laughing.
"Aw Billie Joe! I still love you!" she said. I fell over laughing so hard. I just laid there beside the store laughing. Tre sat down next to me.

"Now let's get out of here before something happens." he said. Tre got up and then helped me up. We all ran down the street laughing and dodging through people. After we stopped laughing and settled down, Adi and Billie Joe decided to go in a sex shop as a joke. I'd never been in a sex shop before. Tre and Mike started laughing at the gigantic vibrators that were standing on display inside that shop. Adi came over to me.
"I have an idea!" she said. I leaned in to listen to what she had to say. "Let's go over to the underwear section and put on skanky underwear and model it for the boys!"
"Oh my god! Are you serious!?" I laughed. She nodded.
"Oh guys? We'll have a surprise for you in about 10 minutes so don't go anywhere!" she called. She dragged me over to the underwear area and we started going through the racks quickly to find the perfect outfit. Adi ended up picking out a rabbit one, and I picked out a hot black leather outfit. We went to the dressing rooms and quickly changed into our outfits.
"Billie Joe! Mike! Tre!" she called. "Come over to the dressing rooms! We have something to show you!" We heard the guys walk over and sit down.
"Okay." said Mike. As soon as we were sure that they were sitting down waiting for us, we walked out. Each one of their mouths dropped about 4 inches and theirs eyes increased in size to about dinner plates. Adi went over to Billie Joe and gave him a lap dance.
