I Traveled Through Time To Meet Billie Joe, chapter 2
I entered Gilman. The walls were all drawn and everybody seemed to be drunk. A band was playing but it wasn't Green Day. Then I realized that it was too early for Billie to be in Green Day.
"But however it'll be I'm gonna see Billie Joe," I said anxiously. "If they will play with Sweet Children I'll meet Al too."
I went to the bar to ask someone foe Sweet Children. They told me they were the next. So when they came I felt so excited that I started o scream. In fact everybody screamed cuz they knew what grate band they were. I felt like I was set in fire when I saw Billie. Then he started to sing. I don't know the name of the song but I can tell that it was absolutely grate. I stood there for few hours. I didn't notice Sweet Children had finished their performance. Now as I was heading to the exit I stumbled over can of beer and I landed in someone's arms. It was Jed. I was so happy to meet him. "Hey Jed! I'm so sorry. Thanks for catching me," I said.
"No problem. You should be more careful," he said laughing.
"Did you see the boys?"
"Yeah, they totally rocked. They are great!"
"Do you want to meet them?" he asked
That was exactly the thing I wanted to do. "Hell yeah, Jed!" I said and he laughed.
"Come with me." We entered a room. Billie, Mike and Al were ready to leave. "Hey, boys, wait a minute," he said loudly. "Here's a fan of yours. She wants to meet you."
"Hi," said Mike.
"Hey I know you!" said Billie
"I know you too," I said trying to be funny.
Then Billie said with a silly simile on his face "You live with me!"
"Well, since this morning yes!"
"Wow, Billie!" said Al.
"Shut up, I don't even know her name!" he said frustrated.
"It's Fay," I said.
"What's Fay?" he asked.
"My name, you silly," I said smiling. Then I saw Billie smiling too. I felt excited. I actually met him when in my present I've only seen him on TV.
"Well, I was going home. Do you come, roomie?" Billie said.
"Yeah. I'm pretty tired."
"Bye guys!" Billie said. He opened the door then we made our way trough the crowded place. It was so hot there. A band was playing but they sucked. Finally we exit. I felt much better. Then I heard Billie talking, "And where do you come from?"
"I'm from Carson City."
"And where is that?"
"Nevada," I said smiling.
"So what happened to you?"
I told him my story on our way home. His eyes were very shiny though it was night and I could barely see his face. It was about midnight when we arrived home. M room was next to his. "Oh damm! My mother forgot to change your bed sheets. Those have stayed there for ages. Wait a moment to go find some new sheets for you," he said and went downstairs.
While I was waiting for Billie to come with the bed sheets I looked at the posters on the wall. There were two posters with The Ramones and one with The Sex Pistols. That was ok. I liked them too. When Billie finally came back with my new sheets he had a strange face. "Where is your language?" he asked surprised.
"I lost them."
"That's not good. What are you going to wear now?"
"Nothing. I'll sleep like this. I don't need PJs."
"Oh just wait here," he said and left again. He would repeat the word 'wait' like I was going to go somewhere without him. By the time he came back I was already in bed. "Hey wake up, Fay!" I heard him screaming. He was holding a pair of PJs in his hand. "Here put this on. They were mine I never wore them. You'll gonna need your clothes clean for awhile," he said and then left closing the door behind him.
The PJs were very ugly. They were brown with white spots. Must be because of the color Billie had never wore them. Or because they were too large. I think they would have feet even Godzilla. I put them on. I was looking so silly with that thing on. I got in bed but I couldn't fall asleep. I was counting sheep. Then I realized I could do something more practical. So I started to sing Brain Stew then Longview and when I started to sing 80 I fall asleep cuz I wasn't singing anymore. I pretended to be Adrienne. The morning came fast. I woke up at about 6 o'clock in the morning. I was sitting in the bed and I was thinking if anything had change back home. Then at about 7 Billie's mom woke up. I found her downstairs making the breakfast.
"Good morning Mrs. Armstrong. Let me help you," I said.
"Oh no, that's fine. I can handle it. It's not big deal. A couple of sandwiches. I'm in a big hurry. You see, I'm late for work. If you want to eat something you should look in the fridge. Now I have to go."
I went to the fridge. I took some stuff from there and I made myself a sandwich. While I was eating my food I saw the telephone. I dialed my home number. I waited a few seconds then somebody answered. "Hello, may I speck to Robert?" I said
"Yes, wait a moment." That voice said. I was surprised. Robert was my dad's name.
"Hello, Michelle?" somebody asked.
I put my hands on the speaker: "Holy god. My dad's about 20 and he's dating mom," I laugh. It was funny for me. "Hi. It's not Michelle. Sorry I think it's a mistake. Bye." I said and I hanged up. It was really wired.
I heard a door open. It was probably Billie. "Hi."
"Oh hi. Sorry I used your phone."
"No problem," he said and went to the fridge.
"I called home."
"Yeah? And what did they said?"
"They don't have money to send me. And they don't really care about me," I lied.
"In fact I was going to live with my aunt, but you know the rest of the story." After I ate my sandwich I went upstairs to change. A few minutes later I met Billie on the hall. "Do you know a place, anything, where I could get a job?" I asked.
"You should try the supermarket!"
"Ok, thanks. And what are you going to now," I said.
"I dunno."
"Shouldn't you go to school?"
"I'm not in the mood." I smiled. I remembered Billie didn't like school so much.
"So after all what are you going to do?" I insisted.
"Hang out with my friends, I think." Then he threw himself on the couch took his guitar and started to play. That song was pretty familiar to me. In fact I realized that Christie road lyrics matched perfectly. I loved that song.
"Nice song!" I said. "Do you have any lyrics?"
"No not yet! But I like the music!"
"Yeah, me too!"
"Hey I should go if I want to find a job!"
"Ok, bye," he said while still playing his guitar.
Outside the sky was shinning and the weather was warm. I walked trough the streets but no one was there. The kids were at school so no one was running or playing on the streets. Suddenly I felt alone. I kept walking until I reached the supermarket. It wasn't exactly a huge building but it was enough for this town. I entered. There were no customers and the stuff was bored. It seemed that they didn't need anymore people. Still I asked to talk with the manager and he gave me a job as shop assistant cuz one girl was pregnant. Lucky for me and lucky for that baby who will be born in Billie Joe's town. I started immediately as I had nothing else to do. But nobody came. It seemed like this was a ghost town.
"And always is so crowded?" I asked sarcastically.
"Better!" a girl answered.
"Oh I see. So by the end of the month I'll be rich!"
"Kind of," said a girl while polishing her nails. I wondered what Billie was doing at that moment. There is not much to do in this town.
Time past. It had been a month since I first meet Billie and now we were really good friends. Spending time with him and his friends was funny. I became one of them, I mean I liked punk and I learned to play blue- of course Billie didn't know this. I even found a better job in a library and everything was going normal. Until one day when Billie told me to go with him to a party. I accepted cuz I was bored to death.
"But however it'll be I'm gonna see Billie Joe," I said anxiously. "If they will play with Sweet Children I'll meet Al too."
