From No Dad, To Rockstar Dad, chapter 8
About an hour of watching more of Jackass, the door bell rang, and Tre walked in. I was sitting on the couch with Billie's arm around my waist.
"You ready, babes?" Tre said, looking at me.
"Yeah. Wait for me in the car. I'll be there in a second," I said, ignoring the evil glare coming from Billie.
Tre walked back outside, and I got up to get phone from on top of the counter.
Billie followed me to the door.
"I'll talk to him on the way there. Okay?" I said, looking at Billie.
Billie nodded and leaned into kiss me, and I kissed back.
"Boys, you guys better be in bed by the time I get home," I said, looking at them.
"Where are you going, Mommy?" Jakob asked.
"To go pick up my friend Stephany from the airport with Uncle Tre," I said.
"Okay. Bring back some ice cream," Jakob said.
"You will be asleep by the time I get home, though," I said.
"We'll wait for it," Joey said.
"Fine," I said, kissing their foreheads. "I'll be home in about an hour."
"Bye Mom," they both said.
"Bye guys." I kissed Billie again and then walked out of the house to Tre's car.
We pulled out of the driveway and drove down the street.
"Tre, we have to talk," I said.
"Sure, what's up?" he said.
"We have to stop kidding around. You know with all the 'babes' and 'sexy pants'."
"Huh, why? It's not like we are serious," he said, looking at me.
"I know, but Billie gets upset every time. And it causes tension between us. You know you're still my best OVER 30 year old buddy, right?" I said.
"Yeah, I know. But Billie needs to lighten up," he said.
"I've told him. But he doesn't listen," I said.
"But, I'll respect him. I mean, he's my best friend," Tre said.
"Thanks. It means a lot to me," I said.
"No prob," he replied smiling.
"So, how are things for you and Stephany?" I asked, changing the subject.
"Great. I really love her. I think this one might be it. I think she might be the one," he said.
"Wow. I'm happy for you Tre, and I'm sure she feels the exact same way," I said truthfully.
"Me too," he said.
We eventually got to the airport and picked up Stephany.
She ran into Tre's arms and kissed him.
"Aww," I said out loud.
They pulled apart, and Stephany hugged me.
"Stephany, your eyes are puffy. What's wrong, babe?" I asked her.
"Nothing, just my parents are being assholes," she said.
"Don't worry about them. They'll come around," I assured her.
"I hope so," she said.
We got into the car, and we headed back to my house so that Tre could drop me off.
"Tre, can we stop at the store? I told the boys I'd get them some ice cream," I said.
"Yeah, sure," he said, pulling into Wal-Mart.
I ran into the store to buy 2 gallons of ice cream. One cookies n' cream, and the other vanilla. I paid and got out of the store quickly and got back into Tre's car.
"Okay. Let's go," I said as Tre began pulling out of Wal-Mart.
We reached the house; Tre and Stephany didn't go inside since it was pretty late.
I walked into the house to find Billie asleep on the couch, and the boys watching Jackass. Again.
"Mommy!" Jakob said, running to me.
"Hey mom," Joey said, walking over to me.
"Hey guys, I brought ya'll cookies n' cream ice cream," I said, taking the ice cream out of the bag.
"Thanks," they said.
"Jakob, do me a favor and put this in the freezer," I said, handing him the vanilla ice cream.
"Okay," he said as he did what I asked.
I put some ice cream in two bowls for the boys, and they ate it quietly at the table.
Jakob's eyes were closing slowly; I glanced at the clock: it was already 10:00.
"Okay boys, time for bed," I said, getting the bowls and putting them in the sink.
Joey slowly walked up the stairs into his room and fell asleep. I picked Jakob up and carried him into his room and put him on the bed. I kissed his forehead and walked out the room, shutting the lights off. I walked into Joey's room making sure he made it to the bed; I kissed his forehead and headed out the room as well, turning his lights off too.
I walked back downstairs to wake Billie Joe, so that he could come up to bed. I kissed his lips softly as his green eyes fluttered open.
He smiled, saying, "Hey babe. When did you get back?"
"About 30 minutes ago. The boys ate some ice cream, and they are in bed now so, come on and get up."
"Okay," he said, getting up and following me to our bedroom.
I put on my pajamas, and Billie just removed his jeans and shirt, and we crawled into bed. He wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed my neck softly.
"Did you talk to him?" he asked.
"Yes. We aren't going to talk that way anymore," I said.
"Good," he said, "Good night baby, I love you."
"I love you too," I replied.
And then we fell asleep.
"You ready, babes?" Tre said, looking at me.
