*Kelsey's POV*
Rhiannon and I stood, dumbfounded. Sure, I was pumped; I mean. We had just met GREEN DAY. OHMYGAWD!!! But we were going to babysit five kids, all of which were staring at us curiously. I turned to Rhiannon, who was glaring at me. Sure, we were going to get 3500 dollars each, and they gave us a few hundred to use watching the kids, but Rhiannon wasn't a big fan of small children. Especially hyperactive ones.
"...What?" I asked, and she gave me a chuck on the shoulder. I flinched, and rubbed the spot. Frankito and Jakob laughed.
"'WHAT?!' ARE YOU SERIOUS? YOU JUST VOLUNTEERED US TO TAKE CARE OF FIVE FAMOUS KIDS AND ALL YOU CAN SAY IS 'WHAT?'!!!!"
She turned to the shocked and amused faces of Ramona, Stella, Frankito, Jakob and Joey, and sighed. "Come on. We'll take my car to your dad's house," she said, gesturing to Jakob and Joey, and turning on her huge knee-high boots and walking away. They trailed her like puppies, and Frankito took her hand. I smirked and followed.
We all piled in for a drive in Rhiannon's beat-up turquoise and white '57 chevy. It was her dream car since forever, and she had only recently bought it for an incredible $1000 dollars and fixed up the engine. But she didn't have enough money for the rest of the car.
"Why is it so bumpy?" Ramona questioned.
Rhiannon looked back at her through the rear view window. "Because I can't afford shocks," Rhiannon sighed, taking a left turn that Joey had said would lead to their house.
"Why does it squeak when we stop?"
"Because. I can't afford to replace the brakes very often."
"Why does it smell like old people?"
Rhiannon's face turned red, and she clutched the steering wheel. "It doesn't."
"Yes it does."
"NO, it doesn't." I was slightly amused by their argument, but I really REALLY needed Rhiannon to concentrate on the fast Californian roads. I touched Rhi's arm to let her know to give it up, but Ramona was already looking out the window.
It was a few hours later when we finally made it to the Armstrong house. Apparently, Joey didn't know the way to his house as well as he thought he did. Pulling up to the driveway, and getting all of the kids out of the car were easy. Getting into the large two-story house, however, wasn't. We stood outside, dumbfounded for a few hours, before Jakob cared to mention that he had a key.
We got them all settled into rooms, and found our own rooms, like five messages from all the mothers about the kids. Returning their calls and calming them down took another two hours. It was nighttime, and finally, finally all the kids had passed out in their rooms. Rhi sighed, told me she was going on a walk and stalked out into the night, leaving me with five snoozing children.
*Tre's POV*
I couldn't her out of my head. Blue eyes. blonde hair with an original haircut. Tight jeans. Leather coat. Biker boots. And what else? What was it about her? She seemed to have a thousand secrets she was dying to tell, but never would. I smiled in the airplane, gazing out the window. Can't. Inappropriate. She's seventeen, nineteen years younger than me. Does that matter? Of course it does. But why? I sighed, and saw Mike eye me suspiciously.
"What are you thinking about?" I could tell him. Right now. Talk. Say something serious for once, you idiot.
But I merely grinned. "How hard it would be to masturbate in this airplane. How thin are the walls in there, you think?"
Mike just sighed, and shook his head, looking away. You're an idiot, Tre.
*Rhiannon's POV*
That look he gave me. Like he wanted to know all my secrets, but knew them all already anyway. I had crushed heavily on Tre Cool since in grade nine, when Kelsey had turned me onto Green Day music. I didn't know what it was about him, but I loved him. Of course I had imagined meeting him, and my friends and I would joke about it, but never in a million years would I have thought that I would meet him.
Or see that look he gave me.
I gazed at the clear black sky and let my legs go out under me, breaking my fall. I breathed in the hot Californian night air, so much more different than home, in Alberta. I blinked at the stars, freezing the moment forever. I closed my eyes, and all I saw were his icy steel blue eyes.
And that look he gave me.
