Can I Get A Faux Hawk?, chapter 4

August's POV

I slowly opened my eyes and yawned rather loudly. I sat up and brought my hands to my eyes, rubbing them. I dropped my hands, my right landing on another. It was warm and soft, and at first I thought it was my own. Realizing it wasn't, I looked at the hand and let my gaze go up the arm connected, to the chest, and then the face. The beautiful face. His face. I smiled, remembering the night before. I leaned towards his face and kissed his cheek lightly, and slid out of bed. I found my night shirt and slipped it on. My feet padded softly on the plush carpet of the hallway. Silently, I went into the kitchen to find Billie and Mike asleep on the floor. I nudged them both with my feet. "Wake up freaks. You two are supposed to be with your chickies." All they did was groan and roll over. I sighed, and walked to the phone. First, I decided to call Adrienne.

"Where's my baby?" Came Adie's worried voice.

"I'm fine thanks, and you?" I said sarcastically.

"August! This is an emergency! Billie's gone!" She was close to tears.

"Don't worry, he's here at Tre's. Asleep. On the floor. Hugging Mike... " I couldn't finish the sentence and burst out laughing, along with Adie.

Billie and Mike started waking up. "Adie! Come over now! ASAP!" I yelled, and hung up the phone.

Next I called Brittany. She too, talked sleepily. "What the heck...who are you? No, stop raping me..." said a half asleep Brittany.

"Britt, it's me, August. Mike's here with Billie and Tre, but Tre's in bed sleeping and Bill and Mike are hugging each other on the floor..." That was enough for her. She hung up the phone without a word. I stepped over Mike and Billie, and grabbed my camera from my purse. Stepping back, I snapped quite a few pictures of the two men.

"Auggie? What are you doing?" came a small child's voice.

I turned. "Frankito! What are you doing up?" I stepped towards the half asleep child and picked him up. He didn't reply, but put his head on my shoulder and fell back asleep. I sat down on a chair and bounced the sleeping boy slightly.

"Having fun?" a voice said. It was Tre's. I turned slightly, trying not to disturb Kito.

"Yeah..." I said. My voice was soft and quiet. "Your kids are so cute. I miss hanging around little kids. And you're so loose here. Not at all like what I'd imagined."

Tre stepped forward, careful not to step on Billie or Mike. He was in a long pair of Calvin Kleins, hands in his pockets. "When did these two get here?" I shook my head. "I have no clue." Tre nodded, and stepped on Billie's stomach to get to a cabinet. He bent over, and stuck his head in it. A few moments later he pulled out a box of BisQuick and chocolate chips. Surprisingly, Billie didn't stir at all during this. When Tre stepped off of Billie, a slam was heard and the chattering of two women filled the room. They stopped when they entered the kitchen and immediately burst into a fit of laughter. Neither of these particularly loud noises woke up Billie or Mike.

Curious, I bent down towards Billie. Putting my ear above his nose, I listened intently for the sounds of him breathing. Remembering what I learned in my Red Cross CPR/First Aid class. One one-thousand... Two one-thousand... Three one-thousand... Four one-thousand... Five one-thousand... Six one-thousand... Seven one-thousand... Eight one-thousand... Nine one-thousand... Ten one-thousand...

There were none.

I gasped, all conversation stopping. I hurried over to Mike and did the same thing.

Again, there were none.

"Brittany, call 911. Tell them we have two unconscious men who haven't been breathing for God knows how long." I paused, moving towards Billie. "Adie, get Frankito away form the house, take him to the park or something. Maybe even your house. And Tre, you know CPR right?" He nodded. "Then come over here and help Mike."

He scurried over and got on his knees, placing his hands on Mike's chest as I did the same with Bill. We started doing thirty compressions and then two breaths. Repeat. We did that for about five minutes before the EMT's arrived. They hurriedly brought out AED's, and tried shocking Billie and Mike to get their hearts beating after finding that there was no pulse.

No pulse.

I hugged Tre, Brittany having gone to her corner and cried herself to sleep. Tre hugged me back, pressing me close to him. Tears streamed down my face, signs of my fear of what was to come.
