It All Started At Cookie Time, chapter 6
*Back at the Armstrong House*
*Adie's POV*
When we walked in the door Joey ran upstairs to feed Speedy, Jakob was right behind him. They really love that fish. I was standing by the counter, when I felt a hand slip around my waist.
"Hey Bill,"
"I love you,"
"I love you too,"
"Is it just me or is our anniversary coming up?"
I looked at the calendar. Today was July 1ST, tomorrow was our 12TH anniversary,"Oh my god, time flew, huh," I said giving him a hug.
"Mom, Dad!" Joey yelled he sounded upset.
"Coming!" Billie yelled up the stairs.
"Come on let's go see what they need," I said taking his hand. When we got to his room, we saw Joey sitting on the bed he looked like he was about to cry. At his feet was Jakob who also looked very upset.
"Joey, honey what's wrong?" I asked my son.
"Speedy," he said pointing to the fish bowl on his dresser. Billie walked over to see Speedy was dead.
"He was an old fish Joe," He said putting his arm around his son, "I know what will make you feel better." Billie ran out of the room.
"Come on guys; let's go see what Dad is up to," I said to my still upset sons. We followed him into the living room, where he was setting up a movie. On the screen was MTV Diaries: Green Day Edition. I didn't understand at first, but then I remembered that on this tape was when Joey and Billie went and got Speedy.
*Billie's POV*
After we watched the movie, I took Joey out for ice cream. Just me and him. "Joey, I know Speedy was your first pet, Are you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah Dad, I'll be alright," he said and we continued to eat in silence. "It's just, getting Speedy was something we did together when I was little," He said breaking the silence, "It was something we did, just you and me. Whenever you were on tour and I missed you really bad, I would go talk to Speedy and watch him."
"I know Joe," I said "We can do something new together, How about we I teach you to play the drums? You already can play the guitar so, why not?"
"Okay Dad," he said happily. We finished eating and got in the car and drove home. We walked in the door, and into the kitchen. Adie was there waiting for us. She was holding Speedy's fish bowl.
"Are you guys ready?" she asked looking down at the fish bowl.
"Yeah," Joey said, taking the bowl from his mother.
*Nobody's POV*
The Armstrong family walked into the bathroom to say their last goodbyes to their pet fish. After all was said and done, Joey left the room with Jakob right behind him. Adrienne turned to her husband.
"He'll be ok," she said, putting an arm around Billie Joe.
"I know," replied Billie.
