Love Me Tender, chapter 4

"Hello? Are you okay? Come on, wake up. Come on. Please be okay."

The first thing that returned was my hearing, and I heard a deep, hoarse voice speaking these things quietly. I didn't want the voice to stop, so I kept my eyes closed. When the voice paused, I opened my eyes, only to see another face only a few inches away from mine.

Ryan Ross.

I blinked my eyes, and stretched a little while breathing out. It felt good to move. Ryan backed away when he saw me move, and a small, relieved smile spread across his face. He noticed how close he had been, and scratched the back of his neck nervously. Then he ruffled his hair so it fell a little more over his eyes. His movements were nervous, and slightly cold, like he wanted to further himself away from people. Then I finished strecthing and ran my hands from the back of my head down my neck. When I did that, my fingers accidentaly brushed the cut that Master had made. Along with the pain, all the memories came flooding back. As a result, I ended up with a bitter smile. The concert had been awesome, Master awful. Funny how the words awesome and awful can sound so alike, and yet have so different meanings.

"Oh, um, I need to change your bandages. I didn't do it before 'cause I thought you were going to wake up and I didn't think you would appreciate waking up to have a strangers hands on your neck." Ryan laughed sweetly, nervously, and shrugged. "But thats just a guess."

I laughed and he blushed a little. Just a little.

"You guessed right."

Ryan laughed.

"Where am I?" I turned to Ryan with wide eyes. He chuckled at my expression of total confusion but stopped when he saw I really had no idea where I was. He cleared his throat slightly, and then told me.

"You are at the Hotel Plaza. I'm Ryan Ross, of Panic! At The Disco, and you are in my hotel room. You have been here for about 5 hours. Um, at the concert, I saw..." he cleared his throat again and ruffled his bangs again.

"...I saw some guy come at you and then you fell. And, um, I hate when people get hurt at our concerts, so I signaled to my sub. Yeah, sub. Everyone in Panic! has a sub. Just in case one of us passes out, or dies, or gets too excited, or blanks out or something. Anyway, I signaled to my sub, and he came out and picked up right away. Then I stage dived. I found you on the ground, and kinda pullled you up. Then I pulled you towards the stage door. I carried you so that you were right next to the stage. Then I called a paramedic. They said that you wouldn't wake up for a while, so after the show I brought you here."

Ryan tapped his left foot against the ground as he spoke, and only looked at me once or twice. It made me feel unwelcome, so I sat up quickly. All the blood rushed to my head, and I grabbed the sides of he bed to steady myself.

"What are you doing?" Ryan stared at me, coldly, and I froze under his stare. I wanted to stay with him, but his occasional cold stare made me nervous. Guys my age didn't usualy make me nervous. I mean, the only guys that I usualy got nervous around was my ex-boyfriend, Billie, and Matt, the high school jock.
Other than that, most guys didn't make me nervous. Only older guys. But I was nervous around Ryan. So I did what I do best: act like an idiot.

"Well, I've been enough of a burden. Thank you for helping me." I stood up (slowly and painfully) and grabbed my jacket (slowly and with difficulty) from the end of the bed and turned to leave (with a limp).
And thats when Ryan grabbed my hand.
