Love's Eternal Requiem, chapter 1

I sat in the back of the room, just observing everything. It all seemed like such a blur. Where I thought there was someone left alive, there was only a lifeless body. The thought of this made me uncomfortable. Why was I left alive, when all the ones I knew and loved were now lying dead on the floor?

The man who murdered my family was gone. Only I was left to fend for myself. I could've gone to the police, but I doubt they'd have helped. They were really no help to anyone anymore. Maybe it's just that I was in shock and I should've called them, but I couldn't.

I couldn't stand the smell of my deceased family any longer. I said a small prayer to whatever god was listening to let my family rest in peace. Then i went outside, grabbed the gasoline, and poured it all over the house. After I poured out all the gasoline, I stood at the door, lit a match, and threw it to the floor. As soon as that match hit the gasoline, the living room burst into flames. The heat of the flame caught me by surprise and a wave of heat hit my face. I shut the door as the fire inside was rising, and I walked off into the night.

As I walked further and further away from what I once knew as my home, I felt this hatred rising inside me. Never in my life had I felt a pain and hatred this deep. I had nowhere else to go, so I decided to walk around town even though I knew it wasn't safe. I guess I just didn't care anymore. Everyone I loved was now gone. The only thing I could hope for now is a release from my pain.

I wandered around Oakhaven for a few hours. I decided to go into a pub to get a beer. I only had a few dollars on me, so I couldn't afford much more than a few beers.

"What'll It Be, Miss?" the bartender asked.

"Just a beer thanks." I said, noticing that my voice was all raspy from all the screaming I had done as they killed my family, right before I blacked out.

"Here yah go," he said as he handed me the drink, "hey...are you okay?"

"No."

"Anything you can talk to me about?"

"No."

"You sure?"

"What the hell is it with you and the questions? NO, I'm not okay. NO, I will not talk about it. I CAN'T talk about it."

"Oh. I'm sorry then."

I drank some more beers before finally getting out the money I had to pay for them.

"How much is the beer?"

"This time it's free. You look like you really needed it. Hope things start to go better for you."

"Hmmph...better..." I mumbled as I walked out of the pub with another beer in my hand.

I walked around drunkenly for about an hour. All of a sudden, a guy came up to me and tried to rob me. I cursed him out saying I didnt have much money. Of course, how idiotic some muggers can be, he didnt believe me. However, before he could hurt me in his search for my valuables, what seemed to be a man appeared out of nowhere and took the mugger off guard. I dont really remember what happened to the mugger. I passed out right after that odd man appeared.

To my own surprise, I awoke in a very strange place. It was like nothing I'd ever seen before. I was in a very comfortable bed, with such a major headache. The room I was in was very lush and looked as if I had gone back in time, to like the 1700s or something. It was so odd. Just as I was about to get up from the bed to see where I was, that same man emerged into the room.

He was...gorgeous. He was a bit taller than me, I'd say he was about...5'8". I, myself, was only 5'2". His ebony-colored hair was shorter than mine. His eyes were otherwordly, they were electric blue and somehow seemed as if they bore right through me. The only thing more intriguing than his eyes was his beautiful skin. So pale that you could make out the blue color of his veins.

"Stay there, Rachael," the man said, "You seem like you've been through such a lot today"

"H--How do you know my name?" i said as i had one hand on my head, as if trying to comfort my headache.

"I've been watching you for a long time. I know all about you. You seem to have gone through many pains in your life. I'd like to help you ease that pain."

"You've...been watching me?"

"Yes. You're such a beautiful girl, It's a sh--"

"If you're gonna kill me, please, just do it now." I said, interrupting him, "I'd rather be reunited with my family sooner than later."

"Dear child, I'm not going to kill you. I'm going to give you a choice." he said, eerily, yet somehow there was a sweetness to his voice.

"What choice?"

"I can either kill you right now, and you can rejoin your murdered family. Or..." he said, pausing as if thinking for a split second, "you can begin your 'life' anew, without the pain of death, suffering, or illness."

"It cant be...how do you know how my family died?"

"The Gift."

"Huh?"

"A special power given to vampyres. You see, Rachael, that is what I am. A vampyre. My Gift is of reading the painful thoughts of people. Sadly, not all thoughts, naught but the thoughts of pain, hatred, heartache, and fear."

"Okay..."

"I will give you TWO DAYS to think about this. Until then, farewell."

"I have nowhere to stay, erm...whats your name?"

"You may stay here in my home, I shall be out of town until your two days is up. And my name is Ville."

"...Okay then. Thank you...Ville."

"Goodbye, Rachael."

With that last word from him, he walked out the door and left.
