Love's Eternal Requiem, chapter 3
"Hello, my darling Rachael. Did I wake you?"
It was Ville. He had come in the house while I was sleeping.
"Yes, but that's fine. I couldn't really sleep well." i said, sweetly.
"Have you made your decision yet?"
"Yes, but...can I have today to think about everything I'm leaving behind?"
"Very well, I'm going to sleep. I'll talk to you tonight."
"Thank you, Ville. For everything."
"Anytime, sweetheart."
It was around four o' clock in the morning when Ville had arrived. It was still dark out and there was about an hour and a half before the sun rose. I decided to go to Ville's room and bid him good 'night'.
"Ville?"
"Yes?" he asked as he was readying his coffin for his slumber.
"I just wanted to come and say...Sleep well."
"Thank you, dear. I will sleep well today. You're here."
This sort of caught me off guard, "I'll speak to you later then, I assume."
"Yes, tonight when the sun goes down, I'll be awake and waiting for you to be ready."
"Thank you again, Ville," I said. Then I went to hug him. He hugged me back and I felt the chill of his body reverberate down my spine. His body was so cold, yet his hug, so warm and inviting. I held onto him for a few minutes, as he was the only one who I knew now, sort of.
I finally let go, said good night again and went to the courtyard outside of his home. As I was walking through his yard in the dark, I noticed a gravestone. I walked over to it and read it.
ALLISON CRAVEN
NOVEMBER 5, 1712 - FEBRUARY 12, 1736
"DEATH MAY HAVE SEPERATED US, BUT WE WILL LIVE ON FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS"
I couldn't help but feel a sense of pain and heartache when I saw this. There was something very strange about this gravestone that sent chills down my spine. This must have been Ville's wife. I wonder if there was a picture of her somewhere around Ville's house. I think I must've been lost in thought about this for about an hour, because light had started to fill the sky as the sun was rising. I sat on a bench outside and watched the sun rise. It was so...beautiful. It was like the kind of sunrise I'd seen in paintings long ago, but it was far more wonderful than anything I'd ever seen before in my life. As the light shone beautifully over the land and brightened up my face, I knew this day would mark the end of my life and the beginning of my eternal love of night.
The day passed by very quickly. I sat outside most of the day, just looking at all the birds and the trees, and the beauty I'd never be able to see ever again. I wrote a few poems describing the beauty of it all, so if I ever missed the light, I'd be able to relive my memories of it in my poems.
That evening, just right after the sun set, Ville came to me. I was sitting in the courtyard still. Finishing up the last poem I'd been writing.
"Are you ready, Rachael?"
"Yes, Ville."
All of a sudden, he came over and hugged me so sweetly. I welcomed his embrace and hugged him back. Right when I felt at peace, he moved my long black hair from my neck and I felt his sharp teeth pierce into my neck. All at once, there was a rush of adrenaline, as my blood transferred from my veins into his mouth. I felt all the emotions I could imagine. Pity, grief, happiness, anger, solitude, and many more. His kiss of death only lasted about a minute, but it felt like forever. I was lost in thought and emotion and the cold touch of Ville on my neck.
"Now, my dear, you must drink from me to live on forever. Do you accept the offer?" he said, my blood dripping from his mouth.
"Yes, please."
He pierced his neck and told me to drink from him. I did as he said. Now I was drinking from him and tasting his blood. His blood was so sweet and I couldn't help it, but I felt his pain and suffering. He stopped me at the point of where I'd drank enough of his blood to become a child of darkness.
"Now, my dear," Ville said, "You must go and rest and when you awaken I'll be waiting for you."
"Alright."
I felt so drained. My body was aching from anguish and exhaustion. I went into the house with Ville and upstairs in the room he'd had me stay in. He shut all the windows and pulled the dark purple velvet curtains over them so no light would shine through during the day. I went to lie down on the inviting, comfortable bed. He then came and sat down on the bed near where I lay.
"Good night, my darling," Ville said softly as he caressed my cheek with his hand, "Dream well."
"Thank you, Ville. Good night," I replied.
Just then he leaned down closer towards me and whispered in my ear, "Farewell, my love," and then kissed me. His kiss was so cold, yet so soft and amazing. I kissed him back. The moment seemed to last forever, as if time had stopped for us.
He then got up and our eyes met, his gorgeous blue eyes shining as if there was a bright fire burning in his soul.
"Farewell, Ville," I said quietly.
He then walked off towards his room. Where his coffin lay silently, as if it was just waiting for his cold body to lay in it, so he could rest.
My eyes grew heavy and everything around me went to black.
Just then the blackness of my subconcious mind went bright and I was back in the burning home. I was ethereal, walking through the fire, unscathed by the orange and blue flames that burned right through and around me. The bodies of my family now incinerated by the flame. Just then as the flames rose to their highest the visions of the murder came back. Somehow entangled with the vision of the fire. Through the flames, I could see myself and my family. Crying and begging for mercy. My dream self was in the corner crying as the cries from my family became more shrill. I, myself, tried to observe who the killer was. But the flames were too bright and high for me to see who the man was that murdered my family. I looked back into the corner where my dream self was and I saw that I had blacked out. Just then the flames died. My family was already slain on the floor and then I finally realized who the man was. I stood there in horror and shock. It was Ville Amour, the man who had come to my rescue when I'd given up all hope for life. I stood frozen with fear as I saw him walk over to my sleeping body and he whispered in my ear.
"Everything will be right again soon, my love," he whispered as he got up, then walked in my direction. I was still standing in the doorway of the house, frozen. He looked up from the floor and our eyes met. His eyes had the same fire in them as they did the night before when he took my life and gave me a new one.
All of a sudden everything went black again, and I awoke in the lush room with a start. Ville was sitting on the chair by the bed staring intently at me.
"Hello, Rachael. Have a nice dream?" he said quietly.
"Ville. How could you?" I said, with a pain in my voice.
"You don't understand. You're not the person you think you are. It'll take some time for you to remember, but you are not Rachael. You are Allison. You are the reincarnation of my long since passed true love."
"That can't be. My name is Rachael Quick, I was born in Oakhaven in the year 1977. I was not born in 1712."
"But you were once Allison Craven, the love of my life torn from me by the incident in 1736. You were 23 years old when you passed. As old as you are now," he said as he raised himself from the chair and stood in front of the bed, "dont you understand? This is meant to happen. You were meant to be with me forever. That's why I became what I am now. I made a promise to you when you were dying in my arms that I would wait forever for you. You told me that you would come back to me and that for me to seek you out through the years. So I did as you said and here we are now. And you don't believe me. This can't be true. You have to remember who you are."
Just then a sharp pain shot through my whole body, knocking the air out of me. I gasped for breath as Ville came and sat with me on the bed hugging me gently and crying. Trying to ease the pain I felt from that sharp blow.
"What...is this, Ville? Why am I feeling this?!" I cried.
"It's how you died, Allison. You were stabbed. The men. You were asleep in your home when they broke in and raped you then stabbed you in the stomach. The night it happened I'd had a very horrible dream that something bad was going to happen. So I awoke with a start and ran from my home, this very home, to yours. But I was too late. Everything I had dreamt had already happened. And you were lying there, gasping for air. You had lost so much blood it was impossible to save you. It was then that you made me promise to wait for you, however long it took. You passed on a few minutes later. You and our unborn child. So here I am, over two hundred years later and I've finally found you, my love."
After he told me everything that had happened it was then that all those memories shot through my mind like a bullet piercing the quiet sky.
"Oh Ville," I sobbed as I hugged him so tightly.
"Allison, my love. It's alright. We're together now and nothing will break us apart ever again."
I lay there in his arm silent now, just thinking of everything that had happened. Now I understood why there was something about him that drew me to him. At this moment in time, i remembered everything. The pain of it all. Why he'd made me feel the way he did. Why no other relationship in my life ever worked out. It was meant for us to be together. Fate had brought us together again. As I lay there, a pain grew in my stomach.
"Ville?"
"Yes, my love?"
"I'm terribly hungry."
"Let's eat then."
It was Ville. He had come in the house while I was sleeping.
"Yes, but that's fine. I couldn't really sleep well." i said, sweetly.
"Have you made your decision yet?"
"Yes, but...can I have today to think about everything I'm leaving behind?"
