Billie, Bob, Jayde, and Sarah. Mike, too., chapter 12
Billie's POV:
I woke up to the sounding of the doorbell. I groggily got up, not aware I was only in my boxers, and answered the door. Jayde blushed deeply.
"Bad time?" she asked. I shook my head and rubbed the sleep from my eyes.
"Not really," I yawned.
"Okay, well can you at least bother to put on a shirt or pants? Even though I've seen practically every inch of you, I'm not in the mood right now." I looked down and blushed.
"Righty-oh, I'll be right back." I rushed up to my room and threw on some decent clothes, then went back down to Jayde. "Why'd you come?"
"I was kinda lonely... ish. I dunno, I was also kinda bored," she told me.
"Ah, I see." I pulled her into a hug and stayed there for a bit. When we weren't hugging anymore, we sat down on the couch.
"Okay, I cannot tell a lie," she said suddenly, imitating George Washington. You thought I was going to say George W. Asshole Bush, didn't you? HA! "The real reason I came is to ask you a question."
"Yeah, what is it?" I asked.
"Well, I more need your advice instead of an answer to a question..." she said, screwing up her face as if she confused herself. "Oh well, listen, Bob came over this morning and told me that Tre's fallen to pieces. He wants me to go and try to cheer him up. Then I asked him if he'd already been to see him, he said yes, but he failed. What should I do?"
"I dunno, you should go. Woah, that rhymed..."
"You are a songwriter," she pointed out.
"Yeah, I know. Well, when are you going to go?"
"I dunno, maybe in a few minutes. It all depends on how long I want to be with you!" She poked my nose. Before she could take her finger back, I bit it.
"Rawr."
"Billie! My finger!" I smiled and leaned my head on her shoulder. She stroked my hair like I'm a cat or something, but it doesn't matter. I purred. Fakely, of course. "Billie, what am I to do with you?"
"I don't know," I said innocently.
"You act all bad and stuff, but then you give me that cute little smile of yours, and who can resist that?" She laid her head on top of mine and I wrapped my arm around her.
"You tell me," I answered.
"Not me, I love your smile!"
"Thanks, but..." I sniffed (falsely, don't forget it!) "I'm all self-conscious! I hate my teeth! They're ugly!" I cried. I pretended to sob into my hands and Jayde laughed.
"What's wrong with you?" she asked.
"Who knows?" I laughed as well. "What's wrong with you?! I'm all crying and stuff, then you laugh at me!"
"I'm sorry," she said. "How can I make it up to you?" Before I could answer or she could get in another word, I kissed her passionately. Who cares if we aren't even in high school yet?! I don't!
"There, does that answer your question?"
"Yeah, but I have to go now. Bob wanted me over A.S.A.P., and you know what he does when someone doesn't obey him."
"Yeah, he kinda freaks out. Okay, I'll let you get off then." We stood up and I walked her to the door. I kissed her goodbye, not knowing that it would be my last kiss with her for a while.
Sarah's POV:
I wonder what's wrong with Tre. Bob won't tell me, I even tried to kiss him to get it out of him, but it didn't work. I can't read Tre's mind, he's blocking me. I feel really bad. Was it something I said? I can't help it that I feel bad, I mean, he's my twin. Yes, I like to say younger brother, but he is! By a few minutes, but still. I'm really worried.
He's locked himself in his room for three... weeks... since I've been going out with Bob and since Jayde and Billie've been together... is he being a protective brother for me? Or is he jealous that we all have someone? Or is he... upset that... wait a minute! Jayde's coming over today! Oh my dog, I think I'm going to be sick... He likes her? Oh, no! She's going to break his twisted little heart!
Before Jayde came, I ran up to his room and went right in.
"Tre, I know what this is about," I said bravely. Even if I don't know it for a fact, I can still give it a shot.
"No, you don't."
"Yes, I do," I argued. "Jayde. Ring a bell?" He whimpered. He shut his eyes tighty and hugged onto his pillow.
"No," he whispered. Tears fell from his eyes.
"You big dope! She'll wreck you." I said softly and jokingly. He didn't laugh. "Oh, come on now, don't cry. You'll make me cry." I rubbed his back to comfort him.
"I just... I can't do this. I can't live with the fact that she doesn't--" The doorbell rang. Tre rolled back over. "I suspect that's her. Can you go get that?"
"No! I will not get that, you get it!" I said angrily. I took a deep breath and shook my head. "Do your best, you big dope," I smiled and left his room. I went down to the living room and the doorbell sounded again. I heard Tre's door open a creak and he came down the stairs numbly. Poor thing.
Jayde's POV:
What's taking so long? I tapped my foot as I waited, making up a random beat. I liked it. Then Tre answered the door.
"Oh my dog, Tre. You're a wreck. You are falling to pieces! What's wrong?" I asked all at once. His face stayed the same, miserable frown, but his eyes brightened up a bit. He shook his head and guestured for me to come in. I nodded and stepped in. As soon as he closed the door, I pulled him into a hug, a nice, friendly, caring hug. His body stayed limp, but he didn't pull back. He let himself be cared about. I kissed him on the cheek. "Shall we go to your room and talk about it?"
"Yeah." We went upstairs and he opened his door for me. His room's walls were black and he had posters everywhere. The brownish carpet was littered with clothes and the scent that filled the room was familiar, it was of him.
"Tre, bud, what's the matter?" I asked. He sighed.
"Should I just come out with it and chop off my own head, or let you figure it out on your own?"
"Come out with it, please!" I begged. He must have saw the look of worry in my eyes.
"I love you." My mouth hung open.
