"So what do you think?" asked Lance L., of a shocked Jovie and Zooey.
Jovie glanced at Zooey who was bursting at the seems with excitement. They were huge! Their band, "The Losers," was topping the charts in Berkely withe their debut album, "Just some girls." Emily was going to shit when she found out. Why did he tell them here instead of at the studio where he said he would?
"Why did you tell us here instead of at the studio where you said you would?" asked Jovie, trying to search Lance for a response.
Lance looked upset all of a sudden, he looked at Zooey and she sat forward and so did Jovie. They both had a feeling that what he was going to say was extremely private.
"They tapped my phone." he said, shaking his head.
Zooey say back, frightened. "The Rats!"
"Shhhh!" said Jovie, "they may be here too."
"No," interjected Lance, "that's why I brought you guys here instead of there. Also, you guys are most likely not to have a confrontation here either. Everyone here is mellow."
Jovie scanned the room. Lance was right, they were. They all loved and respected "The Losers," since day one. Just a bunch of their friends, playing in the mosh pit. Fool Proof...or so she thought.
"Do they know?" asked Jovie, curiously.
"No. No idea. They do know about Green Day though."
Jovie and Zooey both looked at him with shocked expressions on their faces.
"I'm sorry, but they had to know."
"They pissed?" asked Zooey, knowing the answer but asking anyway.
"Oh you better believe that. They are forbidden to even look here anymore."
Jovie put here head down. She did not want it to go down like that at all. Sure what they did was wrong and stupid and selfish as well as selfless all in itself, but still. Banished? She already knew she must never see him again, but she wanted to see him again. It was harder on her then she let on in the public eye.
Zooey must have known what she was feeling, because she put her arm around her.
"It's okay girls, really. They shouldn't have done it in the first place, but knowing them, it was probably a reason. Maybe they did it knowing they would get this kinda reaction, who knows? They are a hell of alot smarter than they let on sometimes, especially Billie Joe and Tre."
Zooey smiled. Jovie frowned. Lance was about to continue when-
"Get the fuck outta here you fucking sellout!" screamed one.
"Yeah, this place is not your style anymore anymore," screamed another.
Jovie jumped out of her chair just in time to see them all jump on Billie Joe. She ran to go help him.
After prying the guys off of Billie Joe...
"Billie Joe, oh my God, you are bleeding, wait outside for me okay?" said Jovie, holding Billie Joe and helping him outside.
"Okay...." said Billie joe, holding the tissue Jovie gave him on his bloody nose.
Billie Joe waited for her to come outside while she talked to her friends inside, explaining to them that she will forever be faithful to the punk rock community while still being friends with Green Day. They understood her of course, they always did. They loved her and Emily and Zooey and why should they not?
Billie Joe thought long and hard about it for awhile. Jovie should not have to give up her friends just to make him feel better about selling out, which he knew he was doing as he did it. He came there wanting to hurt her so bad, now he hated himself more than ever. Why did she still help him if she didn't love him?
Billie Joe got up and began to walk away. Ignoring Jovie's soft angelic voice that seemed to trail after him, even as he walked his Boulevard of Broken Dreams.
