Jovie sat slowly down on the couch, next to Zooey and turned up the volume. It was them! On TRL! Omigod!
Jovie stared in horror at Billie Joe, Mike and Tre came on TRL and sat down and began to talk to Carson Daily about their new album. It was impossible, new album? Why hadn't they heard? More importantly what were they going to say. Again Jovie turned it up to hear what they had to say.
Billie Joe had bleached blonde hair, Tre had green and Mike purple. They were all dressed up in skateborder clothes and all looked positively adorable. Carson began to talk.
"Billie Joe, is that right?"
Billie Joe shifted slightly in his seat, "Yeah. My mom came from Oklahoma so it really only is Billie Joe, not William Joseph, Billie Joe."
Carson laughed out loud, "Sorry man. And you are Tre?"
"Yeah," Tre grinned.
"Is that really your name, or is it short for something else?"
Tre glared at Billie Joe and Mike in effort to keep them quiet. "Yes."
Mike burst out laughing. "Liar."
Carson looked at all three of them in confusion, "Well then, what's your real name?"
Tre once again gave them a look that said to be quiet for the life of them. Mike laughed, "Frank Edwin Wright the third."
Carson gave Tre a blank look. Billie Joe smiled a half smile, but didn't look at the camera.
Carson continued. "Do you guys have girlfriends or boyfriends or..."
"Boyfriends," said Tre, looking seriously at the camera.
Everyone went quiet. Who was Green Day? What were they? How did they come to get were they were? Everyone watched them anxiously to know and find out when TRL got a phone call.
Jovie tried to get Emily not to call, but it was too late, she got through and now it was havoc! Zooey had to leave the room because she was laughing so hard.
Back on TRL, the people listened anxiously to the female fan on the other line firing question about their love lives and sexual prefrences and more importantly....how they felt about selling out. Emily was brutal. Not one question was left out, by the end, everyone was a fan of this anonomous female fan who seemed to know it all, but when they asked her what her name was, she simply said Jackie.
As they walked out of the studio together, Billie Joe smiled in spite of himself and Mike began to laugh. Tre scratched his head.
"What the hell is so funny? We just got our reputation fucked up and you guys are laughing? What is so funny?"
Mike calmed downed, "Tre did you not get it? It was Emily on the phone. Emily's alias is Jackie Brown (long before the movie), if it was Beatrix or Mia..."
Billie Joe commented, "Yeah, my Beatrix."
Tre thought about it and smiled, "My Mia. My love, my only."
Billie frowned. To bad it wasn't Beatrix (Jovie), he missed her so very, very much.
He loved her and she got rid of him and she said she didn't love him, so why did he still care about her. Mike and Tre had it made, they knew that Zooey and Emily still loved them even though they were pissed at them. All of a sudden, he got pissed off. He bit his lip to keep himself from saying so.
"You know what it means?" Mike asked Billie Joe and Tre.
"What?" they said in unison.
"They still love us."
After the public humiliation of Green Day, Emily and Zooey went home and Jovie decided to work late. After everyone had left and Jovie was just about to go home the phone began to ring. She answered.
"Hello?"
"Hello?" said an unfamiliar voice on the other line.
"Um, Lookout! Records, this is Beatrix Kiddo, how may I help you this evening?"
"Um, yes, this is John Spencer from TRL. Is there a Jackie Brown there?"
"Well, maybe, what do you need her for?"
"Not just her, Is there a Mia Wallace there too?"
"Maybe."
"Well, Miss Kiddo, we were tracing your call to TRL today, and we happened to notice that you and Miss Wallace and Miss Brown have a punk rock band, is that true?"
"Yes. Why?"
"Well, we happen to happen an open position at Headbanger's Ball, and we were wondering if your band as well as you could please attend and play? We would love it if you graced us with your presence."
"Because of the interview you mean?"
"Yes of course."
"Why?"
"The crowd loved Jackie's voice on the phone taunting the newest band in the country, so we would like to hear her sing and play. Could you come? We will fly you oursleves first class all expenses paid to stay for a week or so. It is the offer of a lifetime Miss Kiddo, I would like you to take that into consideration, especially since Mtv has never done this for anyone before."
Jovie paused. "Well, I need to talk to them first then I will call you back, 'kay?"
"Alright, have a nice night and thank you."
"No prob, take it easy sir. Thank you."
When she hung up she went to Emily and Zooey's to tell them the good news. And asked them what to do. What do you think they said?
