Wicked Wishes: until the end. (2nd ending.), chapter 5
I didn't leave the house for the next week.
I stayed inside my room.
"Some ones here to see you Riot!" I heard Adie yell up the steps. I walked down the stairs to see Sony standing in the door way.
"Hi."
Adie looked at me.
Sony had bruises on his face and his left arm was in a sling.
Adie walked upstairs.
"I'm sorry, I wanted to talk to you but I don't have long. Bayzers waiting in the car."
I looked outside and saw bayzer sitting in the driver's seat of a black jeep. She waved. I waved back.
"Do you want to come in?" I asked. He walked past me.
"I wanted to say I'm sorry for all of this."
"You're saying it like it's your fault."
"At least you're not mad at me. David's really mad at me." Sony looked at his feet.
"David's sister is dead. He's going to be mad at anyone he can be mad at. But you and I are his first choices because you were driving the car and I got her... well you understand." Sony nodded.
"But I just feel guilty."
"You shouldn't," I told him. "None of this was your fault."
"I didn't see you at the funeral," Sony said to me.
"I wasn't feeling well," I told him avoiding his eyes.
"Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure," I said awkwardly.
"Do you expect to just erase her from you memory not that's she's gone?"
I flinched a little and sneered. I could have punched him right then and there. I would have to if he wasn't already in bad shape. I shouldn't have had to explain my self to him.
But I did anyway...
"Listen Sony, I was new to love. The girl I dated before Chadd was a slut and she was easy. That was the only reason I dated her. I know it sounds bad but it's true. I didn't hang out with the greatest of people. My one friend dropped out of school when he was 15 and ran away from home because his mother was a prostitute. He made a living selling drugs and that's what he's done every since. I had a drug problem. I was depressed. My father hit me. My mother disapproved of every little thing I did. I would cut myself." I held out my wrist. "I finally just tried to kill myself. I told my mom I would stop everything if we moved here. So we did. Then I met Chadd. She seemed to be able to make everything ok. She didn't make it feel as bad as it really was. And Ill admit that I took her for granted sometimes. I knew she could do much better then me. I wasn't good enough for her. And Sony I've thought of just trying to forget her...but that's impossible."
Sony didn't say anything when I was done.
We never went back to that subject.
"Chadds mom and David are moving to Chicago."
"They are?"
"Yup," Sony said. "There's nothing here for them any more why should they stay?"
"What about you?" I asked. "What are you doing now?"
"I don't know. Some people at lookout records think we should start looking for a new singer. But that be just like changing the whole band. So we aren't sure yet. But if we don't make a choice soon they might drop us."
Sony sighed.
"I'm glad I got to talk to you. I've got go now though."
"Yeah Bye," I said to him.
"Bye." Sony left.
