Wicked Wishes: until the end. (2nd ending.), chapter 8
I was lying in my bed looking at the ceiling. I couldn't sleep. So I went down stairs. Billie was sitting on the couch smoking a cigarette. I sat down across from him.
"You need a hair cut," he said, turning on the light.
I shrugged. "I think I might ask Bailey out."
"That's good," he said.
I walked into Rudy's the next morning. She was standing by the counter. I wasn't sure why I was doing this; I figured I'd take a shot at it.
"Hi."
"Hey," she smiled. "You're the kid who was sitting with Mike the other day."
"Yeah. Billie is my uncle."
"Really? That's cool."
"Oh. My name is Riot," I said stupidly. "Do you want to go out with me tonight?"
"Well, you get right to the point don't you? Sure, pick me up at eight." She wrote down her address and gave it to me.
She lived in a small apartment by herself; she was nineteen. I just took her out to eat. She told me she had lived in San Francisco most her life. He dad was stationed at the marine base. She had six brothers and all of them were in the marines, four of which were in Iraq. She was the only girl. She was nice. I told her about myself, minus Chadd, my family, cutting, and hospital stays.
I took her home. I stood outside on her front porch.
"Thanks Riot," she said.
I kissed her. Before I knew what was going on we were in the apartment and I was lying on top of her on the couch.
"This is a mistake," I said to her.
"Well we don't have to do this on the first date."
"Yeah," I said getting off of her.
"Come on, I want to show you something." She dragged me out of the room and upstairs.
She opened a window on a landing and climbed out on the roof.
We sat on the roof.
"I always do this," she said.
"Bailey, I'm sorry I shouldn't have asked you out."
"What?"
"It's just, it's me. It has nothing to do with you I swear to God."
"Riot?"
"Yeah?"
"How long were you with your last girlfriend?"
I just looked at her. I had no clue what to say. "A long time."
"Did you just break up with her?"
I shrugged.
"You aren't over her are you?"
I shrugged again.
"Well Riot, I've been in the same position before so I'm not mad at you. I just hope we can be friends."
"Of course we can Bailey! I'm just not ready to be with someone again."
"I understand I was talking to Mike the other day, and he told me what happened to your last girlfriend."
I went home a little bit later. After I told her a little bit about Chadd.
"You need a hair cut," he said, turning on the light.
