Stella stood in the kitchen alone. She knew it was not her mother's death that had depressed her dad. She had been dead for 5 years and Mike had only started to act so depressed since he got a letter in the mail, but he wouldn't let her read it. Maybe it was from Billie Joe, she thought. The famous band Green Day had broken up a few years ago. But only Tre, Billie, and Mike knew the true reason why and they never told anyone else. It broke many hearts, since they broke up; Stella hadn't seen Billie or Tre, or Ramona or Joey or Jakob or Adie or anyone. It was like when they broke up, their friendship broke up. Not one had heard from another in 3 years.
Mike had continued to run his café and restaurant. Not one of them went solo. They all seemed depressed, not wanting the band to break up, but they did anyway and seem to disappear from the face of the world, blending in once again as normal people. No one ever heard from the infamous Green Day again. But...why?
Mike's P.O.V.
I sat in my bedroom, listening to All By Myself. Thinking of that night, when Tre was stoned and he sung this song sounding just like Jack from Will and Grace. Why? I thought miserably. Why did we have to leave each other? We're all we've got and this had to happen. No one was looking; I was thinking of you. I thought of Tre and Billie and the guys and fans and Annie. All by myself. I started crying. What happened? Why didn't I know until now? I can't even look at that letter. It hurts too much. I went in your room. I felt like crap and I knew Stella had the right to know, why didn't Billie tell me? I buried my head into my pillow. I wanted just to crawl under a rock and die. You and me had such wonderful times. When I'm all by myself...all by myself.
Tre's P.O.V.
I was driving home from work, which was teaching drum lessons at night, baby sitting for complete strangers when ever I'm needed, doing café paper work for my friend, helping my other friend with his adults only store, working as the person at the check out counter at the library, a janitor for Lexi's salon and nails, a cashier for Publix, helping the post office, and let's see what else? Uh...I think that's it...oh yeah and working as a make up and perfume person at Burdines.
Paying off the house is expensive! Now I see what Claudia was always warning me about. Aw crap! I think I forgot to pay the electric bill again...oh well; we can camp out in the yard. Again..for the 5th time. Damn I forgot to get the groceries! I was supposed to get my pay check today, now what about dinner? I guess it will have to be leftovers...do we even have leftovers? Oh well. As I was rummaging threw all the things to be done, I heard a song come up on the radio. As soon as I recognized it I gasped and turned it up full blast. It was pulling teeth.
"IS SHE ULTRA VIOLET IS SHE DISTRURBED? I BETTER TELL HER THAT I LOVE HER, BEFORE SHE DOES IT ALL OVER AGAIN, MY GOD SHE'S KILLING ME!!" I screamed along to the song all the way home.
By the time I pulled up to my driveway, my throat was scratchy from screaming so much, but I was used to it, from concerts and stuff. I hopped out of my SUV, grabbed the mail and walked up to the front door, as I did I found a weird letter in the mail I collected. I recognized the address at once. I gasped and dropped all the mail on the pavement and ripped open the envelope. I quickly open the letter and started reading, my heart racing. Half way through the letter my eyes widened and I fainted across my front door; which I don't do often, Mike's the one who's always fainting. Claudia, who saw me come home, opened the front door and screamed as she saw me dead as a rock across the front door, still in my make up and perfume work uniform from Burdines. She realized I had fainted and saw the letter still in my hand. She picked it up and read it. After she did she dragged me into the house and ran up Mike.
Stella's POV
I was home again as usual when all the sudden I heard the phone ring. I picked it up.
"Hello?" I asked sluggishly.
"Oh my god! Mike did you get that the letter?" I heard I woman's voice say panic stricken at the end of the line. I couldn't hear so well because of the static.
"I'm sorry who is this?"
"It's Claudia! Tre's second ex-wife?"
"Claudia?!"
"Yes, Michael! Who else? Did you get the letter?" she asked impatiently. Stella thought for a moment.
Claudia? Why is she calling us? What letter? Doesn't she know it's me, not my dad? Then she realized she must have been talking about the letter Mike would not let her read. And since Claudia though she was Mike, she took it to her advantage.
"What letter?" she asked, playing dumb and impersonating her father.
"Tre got a letter from Billie, except it was from Billie's address but not him. It was them, Jason was right!"
"What are you talking about?" Stella heard her sigh impatiently.
"Remember Jason said he thought Billie was acting strangely just before the band broke up?'
"Yes... "
"He said he thought someone was after Billie?"
"Yeah," Stella lied. She heard some one open the bedroom door coming out. She knew it was her dad so she didn't pay much attention. All sucked up into Claudia's story.
"Well, he was convinced that it was Brittney and Lisea but no one believed him."
"And what did the letter say?" Stella asked quickly.
"Well, I'll give it to you, I think you'll recognize the hand writing."
"So it was them?!"
"They killed one of Adie's friend in their house right in front of Billie and her and then they kidnapped them and are threatening to kill them."
"Oh my god!" Stella was speechless.
"But you can't tell Stella, what ever you do!" Claudia warned.
"Why?!" Why not tell me?" She thought angrily and desperately
"Because they have Anastasia too, she not dead and she never died. You were right and they are threatening to kill her too."
Stella dropped the phone right there. My mother's alive? Thoughts raced threw her head as she started to feel nauseous. So many questions, so many secrets...
Mike suddenly walked in and screamed as he saw Stella passed out across the floor. He saw the phone off the hook and heard a voice coming from it.
"Mike? Mike, are you there? Hello!" he slowly approached the phone and picked it up.
"Hello?"
"Hello? Uh, where's mike? I was just talking to him."
"This is Mike, who is this?" There was a pause.
"Wait, if you're mike, then who was I talking to?"
"Stella I guess, who else? And who are you?" Claudia gasped, realizing what she had done and hung up the phone.
Mike realized she hung up and placed it back on the hook. Weird, he though, was that Claudia? No, but she thought Stella was me...who ever it was.. he looked down at his daughter and dragged her into the living room.
