*1988, May 4, California*
"Wow! I can't believe that was our first performance!" Billie Joe said, joining the other three on side stage.
"I know! And man we rocked!" Tre said as the crowd cheered.
"Well, duh! It's us, Sweet Children!" Mish commented.
"So of course we're gonna rock!" Mike finished for her. Tre and Billie laughed at them.
"Who is up for a beer?" Tre asked.
"I am!" Billie Joe yelled really loud.
"Me too!" Mike and Mish shouted, getting into the spirit.
"Soooo, can you tell me your middle name now?" Tre questioned Mish. "Is it something close to Ryan?"
"I'm sorry, Frank Edwin Wright III, I'm not going to tell you my middle name," Mish said as she started unplugging her guitar. She was just the back up guitarist and got to sing a bit too, but at least she was in the band.
"Oh, fine then." They then went to Tre's house to have some beer. Tre got out his key and unlocked the door. His father wasn't home yet, even though it was just past midnight and he went to work as soon as he had dropped Tre off at Billie's house before school. Tre went straight to the fridge while the others went straight to his room. Tre grabbed as much beer as possible and brought it to his friends.
They got slightly drunk and Billie Joe, Mike and Mish went home at about half past six to get ready for school. Only a few more weeks and they were all dropping out. Tre's dad soon dropped him off (half drunk) at Billie's house and they walked to school together (half drunk). They all got a detention each, got heaps of comments on their performance last night, Mike and Mish got a few happy birthdays for yesterday, and then they all went back home (still a bit drunk). What a waste of time school was.
They still couldn't believe how well they had done with their performance. They had no idea that people would like it that much. Tre had announced that they would be famous, once their CD (if it ever happened) came out. Everyone in the world would know their name, Sweet Children. They had all laughed at him, knowing that would never happen. But they were wrong.
*1991, July 1, California*
"Oh my fucking God!" Tre yelled in the music store. "It's our CD!" People stared weirdly at him as he bounced up and down like crazy.
"Tre, calm down," Mike and Mish said at the same time, getting embarrassed. Billie Joe took his arm off Adrienne (his new girlfriend) and grabbed Tre's shoulders, pushing them down hard. Tre stopped and breathed in and out slowly, trying to calm down.
"Sorry guys," Tre apologized and the rest of the customers acted like nothing had happened.
"So, this is your album?" Adrienne asked, picking up the CD. They had changed their name from Sweet Children to Green Day.
"Yeah, it's pretty good compared to the rest of this stuff here," Billie said, blushing a bit. Mike and Mish exchanged glances. Billie never blushed. A punk walked into the shop and stopped at the new releases and picked up their CD, then buying it with a few other CDs.
"I think you guys are going to do very well," Adrienne commented as they walked out of the music store. Mike ran his hand through his (now blonde) hair at the same time Mish ran her hand through her (now streaked with blonde) hair. Tre saw them and laughed. He loved it when they did things in time.
Billie and Adrienne put their arms around each other and Adrienne leaned into Billie Joe as they walked in front leading the way to the Bay, Tre, Mike and Mish following in a line the whole way. Billie and Adrienne went into the water in their clothes (t-shirt and skirt and t-shirt and shorts) and started to splash each other, trying to get each other as soaked as possible. Tre eventually joined them in the water, getting Billie drenched.
"Come on in you two!" Adrienne shouted and they exchanged glances. Mish kicked off her shoes.
"Race you there," she challenged Mike and took off running down to the water in her black short shorts and tight pink t-shirt. Mike flicked off his shoes and ran down after his twin sister and into the water and started to join in the fun.
When it got late, they said bye to Tre and Adrienne who walked home together (in the same direction), and the other three went home to their new flat. Tre was planning on moving into the flat with them soon.
"I can't believe that our album is out!" Billie said as he started to take off his wet shirt.
"And someone actually brought it right in front of us!" Mike said, chucking Billie a dry shirt he had found on the floor and finding one of his on the floor too.
"Maybe Tre was right. Maybe we will be famous," Mish thought out loud while looking for something dry to wear.
"Yeah, maybe... " Mike trailed off, thinking that Tre might actually be right.
"But even if we don't, we're still gonna be a big happy family, right?" Billie asked them.
"Well, duh!" Mike replied, laughing.
"Yeah! No matter what happens!" Mish said, backing Mike up and smiling. But later on, she regretted saying that.
