Tre, The Lion You Bought Me Is My Most Favorite Thing In The world...Yeah Right. No It Is..., chapter 1

Tre's POV

Sam and I had been friends ever since we were babies. Sam was a punk kid who kind of had her own style and we were inseparable as hell. Sam and I were 17
now.

She had just been raped twice. Her alcoholic dad kept calling her up and yelling at her, saying she was a whore and kept getting pregnant, aborting her babies, and burying them in the back yard, which made her even more depressed.

It made me sad but not as sad as her. It had been a week now. Sam was in bed. She couldn't move at all because the kid messed her up so bad. I had tried my best everyday to cheer her up. All she did was lie in bed under the covers, and cry. She wouldn't speak to anyone at all and she would only eat if everyone was out of the room. I went over to her house everyday. I had to help her go to the bathroom.

On the other hand I had just got myself a girlfriend I had seen a Gilman quite a few times. Her name was Dookie. She was a punk kid. Today I was taking her over to meet Sam.

We pulled up into Sam's driveway at a house she lived in with her older brother and a few other friends. We walked into Sam's room. The TV was on and she was facing her sliding glass doors and lying under the covers in her bed. I walked up over to her and had Dookie by the hand.

"Hey Sam," I said kneeling down by the bedside and getting my face close to her's. She just looked at me. Tears we pouring out of her eyes. She didn't smile or even move. She didn't even make a sound although she was crying like crazy. Her face was just blank.

"Remember when I told you about my new girlfriend? Dookie?" I asked her. She just kept staring at me with her big, blue, shiny year filled eyes, still no expression or movement.

"Well, I brought her over to introduce you to her." I grabbed Dookie's hand and led her over to the bedside.

"Dookie this is Samantha. Samantha this is Dookie," I said. Dookie stuck her hand out for Sam to shake it.

"Hi," Dookie said. Sam just lay there not moving or talking or smiling, just crying looking at Dookie. She put her hand back to her side.

"I brought you a present," I told Sam kneeling back down to her bedside. I pulled out a brown paper bag. I put it next to Sam. She just looked at it and did the same, no moving, no expression, no talking, and just crying.

I opened the paper bag and dumped it out onto the bed. It was a stuffed animal white tiger that had a pouch in it. Inside the pouch I put some stuff in there that Sam hasn't seen since we were little kids, pictures, notes we used to pass during class in 7th grade, and a 6 page long note I wrote for her a few nights ago. She just looked at it.

"Well. Dookie and I have to go. I promise I'll be over later," I told her. I kissed her cheek and she just lay there crying.

"I love you Sam," I whispered in her ear, then kissed her cheek again. Dookie and I left. I was in the car. Dookie kept rubbing my crotch. I really wasn't in the mood though. Dookie always wanted sex. Everyday. But ever since this happened I didn't want to.

"Come on. Let's go," Dookie said leaning over to kiss me.

"No."

"Why not?!" she asked loudly.

"Because. Okay?"

"Jesus Christ Tre! Don't get so depressed over her. She's a girl! My God!"

"Shut the fuck up Dookie. She's my best friend and I love her a hell of a lot more than I love you!" That shut her up. I took a U-turn in the road, drove Dookie's ass back to her house, and took back off over to Sam's. I went in Sam's room.

She had out the letter that I wrote her a couple nights ago, she was lying down in the same spot and position as before, and she had the tiger in her arms. She was on the last page of the letter. She was crying even harder but still a blank expression and no moving. I lay down on her bed next to her. I saw where she was reading a paragraph that said:

"I love you more than anything in the world. I would do anything for you. I promise I'll never let anything bad happen to you and I'll never leave you. I promise. I know that you might be a little worried that since I have a girlfriend I might forget about you and be all about her, her, her, but it won't be. I promise. I love you Samantha."

"I mean everything I said in that letter." I whispered in her ear. I stayed at Sam's that night. She fell asleep around seven and still not talking or barely moving. I asked her once if she wanted to flip over and lay in my arms. She didn't say anything she just flipped over and put her head on my chest.

Around seven she fell asleep on my chest, wrapped up in a baby blue blankets all the way wrapped around her shoulders. The only thing you could see was her head poking out of the covers and the little stuffed lion's head poking out I bought her.
