Gülüsü Dünya Kadardi-ama bizi kurtaramadi (not so ordinary), chapter 1

It was nearly the end of another period of school. The lesson was Orchestra, and Melis wasn't the only one who was bored as hell. At last chef gave up and yelled at the students

"Class dismissed."

"Finally," Melis murmured. Jenny, who was sitting next to her smiled

"Tell me about it. I'm taking the lesson for the rest 3 years," She said.

"Yeah, you are lucky it's your final year," Melis replied. "I've 2 years more, God, I hate being in 9th grade."

Then all the students grabbed their instruments and went off the orchestra room.
She went to her room in the strings' part of the building. She unlocked the room's door and went in. She put her cello into its case. Then she went downstairs to find all the friends of her. There they were, waiting for her to come. When the group came together, immediately laughs and lots of noises filled the corridor. She liked, well more than like, she loved her friends. They were a part of her and they make her feel like nothing bad could ever happen.
They went to the cafeteria and bought their meals. They sat on a table and began to eat. Tuly was making jokes, as usual, and everyone was laughing their asses off. There was an orange on that day's meal, so they started to peel it off and threw it to other students on the cafeteria.

Melis shouted; "Food fight!" and threw some to the 6th graders. Then to the 10th graders. They returned with pieces of bread and then everyone was on the fight. She was laughing her ass off. That was a tradition of them- I mean the food fight. It happened every time there was an orange for part of the meal. When she was about to throw a piece of orange to some 8th graders, she felt a hand holding her arm.

"What the fuck-?" she turned around and saw Bradly-the man who was the administrator of the cafeteria.

"It's happening the second time this week, Miss Kaplan. And I don't know it's count of this year. You're coming with me," He said. All the fight suddenly stopped. Everyone was looking at her.

"It's the second this week? Man, you serve orange too much." She said with a grin and then turned to everyone "You keep going guys, I guess I have a meeting with the principal," She said but it was obvious that she didn't give a shit to the principal, or detention. "Ok Mr. Bradly-" she did her voice a little bit funny on the Mr. Bradly part, "Let's go!" Then everyone continued fighting, all the men who were working in school cafeteria were trying to make them stop, but failing miserably.

She looked at the riot that she started a few minutes ago and headed to the principal's room with Bradly, well at least the students were calling him Bradly. They went into the principal's room.

"Wait here," Bradly said and went off the room to find the principal.

Melis just sat on the couch on the room and grabbed the newspaper on the principal's desk. When she was reading a kidnapping new on the paper, Mrs. Ceily, the principal, came in the room.

"Oh hello Miss Kaplan. What happened this time?" she asked as Melis put the paper back on the table and turned to her.

"Well, like I said to Bradly, you serve orange too much."

"That's the reason you started a food fight in the cafeteria?"

"Yes. You know, we only do it when you serve orange. Cause they taste like shit-"

"Please speak properly, Miss Kaplan."
"
If you stop calling me like that. I have a name, Melis!"

"Ok, Melis."

"Whatever, I'm saying that the oranges are the worst ones I've ever tasted. And we don't want to eat them. So, it's our way to protest it. At least my reason is this."

"It's not a protest, you're breaking school rules and this isn't the first time. I have to give you a detention."

"Whatever," She said under her breath.

"That's what I'm talking about. You have to change that attitude. You are a student of this conservatory and you have great marks on your instrument. So, you have to look like and act like a nice young lady, because you're a representative of our school."

"A young lady?" Melis asked while she looked at the mirror on the wall. The sight could be anything but a nice young lady. Black heavy eyeliner, long brown hair with some bright reds on some random points, a randomly cut hair style that she cut herself, black tight trousers, a really old black T-shirt that she made herself and beaten up green Converses. "Yeah, what a young lady," She thought.

"Are you saying what I should wear and do what I don't want to?" she asked, kind of annoyed.

"I'm just advising."

"Good, cause I'll never be like the other girls on the school or something else. This is me, you can't change."

After a couple of minutes of silence, Melis started to talk again.
"Is this it? Can I go now?"

"Yes, sure. But starting tomorrow, you're spending your lunch break in the classroom for one week."

"Really, that's all?" she asked, a little bit skeptic.

"Yes."

"Ok," She said and she went off the room.
