A Halloween We'll Never Forget!, chapter 1
Yay! I finally talked my mom into letting me trick or treat with my friends! Yeah, we're thirteen. So? Your point is...? Anyway, I had this awesome idea. Me, my friend Nebraska, and my friend Kelli LOVE Green Day... Any ideas gelling in your brain? Yes! My genius idea is that I can be Billie, since I'm short, Nebraska can be Tre, she has the eyes and she's goofy, and Kelli can be Mike, she's tall. I immediately decided to call them. I called Nebraska first.
"Hey, Enne," The nickname is meant for 'N,' "Mom said I can go trick or treating!"
"Oh my dog, that's wonderful!" She gasped. "So, Blue, what are you going to be?"
"Um...Do you like Tré from Green Day?" I asked. I shouldn't have.
"Yes! I do!" She said after shrieking in my ear. "Why? Did you meet him? Did you ask him if he can come over and skateboard with me?!"
"No, no. Sorry. But...how would you like to be Tré for Halloween? 'Cause I want to be Billie Joe, so if I can get Kelli to be Mike, we can go as Green Day."
"I'm one step ahead of you. I already have a black, guys' button up shirt that has it's sleeves rolled up to the elbows, and I have a belt that looks like his, and I bought wash-out hair dye to dye my hair and put it in a faux haux, and I have eyeliner, and I already had black 'slacks', and I'll wear my black Etnies. And if there's any tattoos to be done, you can do it, and I can do you yours, since we're good artists!" She talked a mile a minute, but I understood her.
"Uh...okay," I didn't know what to really say, "So, I guess I'll call Kelli now. Okay?"
"Okay, bye," Enne said.
"Buh-bye," I answered. I heard a click on her end. I hung up. I then dialed Kelli's cell.
"Hello?" She asked.
"Hello kitty, so about Halloween..." I brought it up. I could just imagine her rolling her eyes.
"Yeah, you still wanting to go trick or treating?" She asked.
In a small, babyish voice, I said, "Yes...And Mom finally said yes, please come! 'Enter bottom lip pout here.'"
"Okay, okay, I'll go, but what should I be?" Kelli asked me.
"You like Green Day right, and you're tall? You should be Mike Dirnt." I told her.
"Okay, but where's the rest of the band?"
"I'm already going to be Billie, and with us or not, Enne was already going to be Tre." I explained.
"Okay. So are we going shopping?"
"Yeah, Enne already got her stuff, so we'll go alone. So, can you meet me at Spirit? Then we'll go to Hot Topic and the hair place. 'Kay?" I proposed.
"Alright. Bye," She hung up. I guess I was going to Spirit, by the way, that's a mega Halloween store, that's only open for October.
I headed downstairs and asked Mom to take me first to the bank, then the store. She reluctantly agreed, and we were off. A few minutes later, we got to the bank, and I pulled out my ATM card. I took $150 out of my account from my job (my dad's business needs a lot of help during the summer, and he employed me, Enne, and Kelli), then I got back in the car.
We got to Spirit soon enough, and I waved goodbye to Mom. I then found Kelli leaning against a stone trash can, with her arms folded.
"Finally!" She cried sarcastically. We headed into the shop and discussed what we needed from here. For Mike, Kelli needed barbell earrings, a platinum blonde wig, and colored contacts. For me, I'd have to get a black wig, hair gel, eyeliner, colored contacts, and earrings (studs). So we split up, deciding to meet only at the end, before we paid.
I looked for the first item I needed, a black guys' wig. I looked on their wall of wigs at all the options. I chose a shaggy one that actually looked like it was dyed, like his real hair. So I moved on to the next thing, hair gel. They didn't have it here, I'd just have to get it at Target or somewhere near Hot Topic. The same for eyeliner... So I moved on to the colored contacts. I found the little display they were on and compared three shades of green. I chose one that was a dull but bright green, and yes I know that didn't make sense. All I needed was the earrings. I just chose some boring ones, because guys don't wear little butterflies or puppies or anything of the sort. I picked up plain 'diamond' studs and started searching for Kelli.
I found her at the front of the store, waiting for me. She found EVERYTHING she needed, so she could just leave after Hot Topic. We paid for all the stuff, and together it cost about $100, you figure $15 each for the contacts, $30 each for the wigs and $5 each for the earrings. So yeah, about $100.
We then took off for the mall, on foot. It was only a few blocks away, so we didn't mind. When we got there, we were getting strange looks from people like, "What the? Spirit? Where's THAT?" Obviously it isn't very popular in our town. Whatever.
We got to Hot Topic and split up again, I found an Adeline shirt that was a short-sleeved black guys' shirt with a star on the pocket. I also found the hair gel and eyeliner, so I could go home, too, afterwards, then I also bought some 'slacks' that looked like his, and a red Adeline tie. I was ready.
Kelli had found a plain black tee with the sleeves ripped off, black jeans, and black tennis shoes, because Mike wore...I guess plain black. I don't know. We paid for it, and barely had enough money, but we were okay, and still had enough money to get our Henna tattoos at the cool shop that just opened a few weeks ago. We saw in the window (when it opened) that they had all bands' tattoos, so we were excited that we wouldn't have to do them ourselves. I'd have to tell Enne.
I pulled out my cell phone, only to realize it wasn't MY cell phone.
