It Doesn't Remind Me of Anything, chapter 1

November 3, 1994

"Daddy?" the little three year old girl squeaked, happy to see her father on her fourth birthday. Happy that he wasn't busy with his friends.
"Yep. It's me, Pandie."
The little girl giggled at her nickname she received from her father the day she was born. The man looked into his daughters bright blue eyes and smiled as his daughter smiled back innocently. He was glad to see his little girl so happy, but he knew that her happiness would soon turn to all the sadness and anger a kid could have.
"Happy Birthday, Amanda!" the man said excitedly as he swiftly pulled a small, yet beautifully decorated box from behind his back. "Here, this one's from me, not Mommy. It took me forever to make it pretty."
His daughter smiled as she took the gift from her father's much bigger hands.
"Daddy!! I wove it!" shrieked the small girl now smiling widely and putting on a small, purple collar that had four little, gold hearts placed in different places around the collar.

She looked up at her father as her father laughed at what she just did.
"No sweetie... that collar isn't for you... .." Her father trailed off and walked into the kitchen. The little girl stood in the living room waiting patiently for her father to return. "The collar is for this," he said as he carefully handed his daughter a very small, fluffy, and adorable Shih-Tzu puppy.
She was speechless. All she could do was hold it and stare at it with complete amazement.
"I hope you like her," the man said with a smile on his face, happy to see that his daughter was very pleased.
"I-I do, Daddy... I weawy do," she said as she held the quiet puppy in her tiny arms.
"Well... what are you going to name her??" He questioned.
"I... I want to name it Mikey," she said as a smile appeared her face. A smile slowly appeared on her father's face as well, because the puppy he gave her is a girl, and thinking about the name that his daughter gave his good friend and band-mate.
"But... honey... th-this puppy is a girl."
His daughter's smile turned to a frown. "So. I can name her Mikey!!" she angrily said.
"Oookay," he simply said. "Do whatever you please."
Her frown quickly turned back into a big smile. "Oh yeah!!" Her eyes widened. "The collar, Daddy! The collar!" she said, overly excited, even for a now four year old.
"You're very right, Pandie!" He said with fake excitement, but it was good enough to fool any young kid. The man jogged over to the coffee table where the collar sat, picked it up, jogged back over to his daughter and her new puppy, wrapped the tiny collar around the matching tiny neck, and secured the collar.
"Thereee we go!" he said.
"Yayy!" she said while hugging her little puppy and trotting over to the couch, as her father followed her. They both were petting the puppy in silence, waiting for a mother, a girlfriend, and a owner of a new puppy that she was unknown to having to get home with a birthday cake for her daughter's birthday.

The day had quickly passed, full of happiness and excitement... and wet floors.
But only one person knew that the happiness would unfortunately end too soon...
