It Doesn't Remind Me of Anything, chapter 6
"Amanda, sweetie...wake up. It's 10:30." I heard my mother's voice as I started waking up.
"Hmmm? Wha- why are you waking me up on a Sunday?" I was really tired from the night before. I had spent hours on the computer last night, talking to my friends.
"Amanda. I always wake you up at precisely 10:30 every Sunday morning."
I sat up on my bed. "Oh." I shrugged. "Maybe I should remember my weekly routine." My mom chuckled.
"Ch-yeah. Just maybe." My mom was heading for my bedroom door. "Come on, I made pancakes. And you're going to eat them." A big smile crept on my face. I love pancakes.
"Okay! B-but hold on. I have to bring Mikey downstairs." I slowly and carefully picked Mikey up off of my bed and carried her down the stairs. Mikey had trouble walking up and down stairs on some days, so I carried her most of the time.
<><>
"Mom, those pancakes were delicious. You should make them again tomorrow." I nodded my head.
"I can't. I have work, and you and your brother have school." Oh yeah. Tomorrow is Monday. Heh. I forgot.
"Mmm. Weekends go by too fast." I sighed.
"Yes. Yes they do." Mom nodded in agreement.
"Hmm...hey Mom? I'm going for a walk, 'kay?" I slowly headed for the front door, waiting for my mom's reply.
"Yeah. Sure. But don't stay out too long."
"Okay. See ya'." I opened the door and walked out before my mom said bye.
I walked down the driveway and onto the sidewalk. I looked around at the scenery, the leaves on the trees were all assortments of colors. Like orange, some still green, brown, and red. Mountains were all around, taking up the sky-line. People were riding bikes, skateboards, and were on rollerblades. Everything here is and always beautiful, no matter what time of the year it is.
As I walked farther down the street, I was greeted with hellos that I ignored. I watched my feet move slowly as I walked on the cracked cement sidewalk, concentrating on each step I took. Then, all of a sudden, my cell phone started to ring it's loud and obnoxious ring. I took my phone out of my pocket and looked at the caller I.D. It read: Dad. I smiled and opened the phone to answer my call.
"Hello?" I asked, like I didn't know who it was.
"Heyyy Mandayyy. Where are you? I called the house and your Mom said you weren't home." I coughed.
"I'm just going for a walk." And then I sneezed.
"Oh," Dad plainly said. "It sounds like you're getting sick, Amanda." I probably am, but of course, I'll deny it to my father.
"Nah. Just allergies." Allergies? Sure.
"Ohhh. Okay," He started. "So. Are you by yourself?" He always asks me dumb questions when he has nothing to talk about.
"Mmmhmmm." I rolled my eyes as I turned around, and headed down the road, back to my house.
"What are you doing?"
"Feeding my goldfish." I lightly chuckled.
"What is with you and that stupid goldfish?"
"Hey," Dad said sternly. "He is not stupid. And besides, he gives good company. And he's fun to talk to and make faces at."
"Dad...you're not a lonely person. You don't need a goldfish to keep you company!" Sheesh. He's so strange sometimes.
"Yeah... I know, but the thing grew on me. We're fairly close now. Ya' know?" I raised my eyebrows and I trotted into my driveway.
"Oh?" This is interesting. "Oh...well, Dad? I'm going to go now, I'm back home. I'll call you or you call me or something. Okay?" I said as I entered my warm home.
"Oh. Okay. Yeah... sure. By Mand! Love you." I smiled.
"Love you too. Bye." And with that, I snapped my phone shut and set it on the small, wooden table by the door.

BEEP BEEP
I suddenly jerked awake from my deep sleep.
"It's so loud!!" I yelled to myself.
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEE-
"There," I whisper, and quickly fall back asleep.
3 hours later...
I slowly woke up from the bright sun shining into my bedroom. I yawned and slowly sat up on my bed, and took a look at the clock.
"Nine thirty!?! School started at eight! MOM!?" I jumped off of my bed and ran around my room.
"MOM!?" I jogged to my closet and quickly picked out something to wear to school.
"Mom?" Oh yeah. She's at work. So I ran into the bathroom across the hall, brushed my teeth, brushed my hair and quickly changed into a my favorite pair of baggy jeans and my favorite tight red T-shirt that had some yellow words on it that I've never paid any attention to.
After I got dressed, I ran downstairs and slid on a pair of black flip-flops and ran out of the door.

When I finally got to school, I walked into the main office and told them I'm not absent, and then headed to the gymnasium. It's fourth period which means I have Phys. Ed. So I walked into the locker room and quickly changed into my P.E. clothes. After I got changed, I walked into the gym and saw my classmates sitting against the wall, and our coach, Ms. Briant talking to everyone.
"Great... " I said, loud enough for someone to hear as I walked through the door.
"Oh. Nice of you to join us, Ms. Wright," She said sarcastically. I despise Ms. Briant, and I know she feels the same about me. The first day she came to this school, she hated me. She told me I had "issues" just because I was messing around with my friend one day, and I rode around in a basket on wheels while my friends pushed me. And after the day she told me she didn't like me and that I had issues I had to work out.
"Oh. It's a pleasure to be here." I gave her the fakest smile possible. Everyone knows that I hate her. So whenever I say something to her, they laugh.
"Would you like to tell the class why you're 15 minutes late to my class?" I rolled my eyes.
"Would you like to tell the class why we're sitting down in P.E. class, and not running around, or doing anything physical?" I mocked her. Everyone laughed once again. I really wasn't trying to be humorous, but I still like it when I make people laugh.
"We're in 8th grade. We shouldn't be listening to your boring lectures just yet, that is for college students. We should be doing activities and running around. Oh yeah...and having fun." I was standing up and pacing now, giving her my daily speech. Ms. Briant started giving me her oh-so-familiar "evil glare" which wasn't evil whatsoever.
"And I know that whenever I say anything to you, you don't listen. Because to my knowledge all you care about is talking about health and giving out homework."
I continued on with my speech without any interruptions, which I liked, until it was time to go into the locker room and change.
"Ha- nice speech today, Mand," My friend, Macey said and patted my back. I nodded and quickly changed back into my clothes and walked out of the locker room and waited for the bell to ring for 5th period and to continue onward with my day.

"So. How was your day?" My mom asked. I just looked at her.
"Welll..." I started. "I was late to school, Mother." My mom looked at me and then back to the road.
"Yeah. I woke up at my normal time, but I fell back asleep."
"I...y-you? I thought I woke you up. I yelled your name up the stairs. And I heard you get up." I sighed.
"Well. It must have been someone else, because the second time I woke up, it was clearly nine thirty in the morning." My mom laughed. I didn't think this was very funny. I can't stand being late for things. It's just not how I...roll.
"It's not funny..." I mumbled. My mom, kept on laughing.
"Anyway..." She said. "How was Phys. Ed?" My mom knows I hate that class.
"Ohhh...ya' know. I gave her my ranting speech on how I hate how she teaches. Did you get a call from her today?"
"Mmm." My mom thought for a second. "Nope." I raised my eyebrows. Usually Ms. Briant calls my mother every time I do something wrong.
"Wow. Maybe she actually listened this time." My mom nodded.
"Oh! Did I tell you Dad called me yesterday?"
"Yeah," Mom started. "He called the house first, and we had an interesting, yet serious conversation." I yawned.
"Oh?" I started slowly. "About what?" Mom kept her eyes on the road.
"Nothing." I rolled my eyes and sighed.
For the rest of the ride home, my mother and I sat in complete silence until we reached our home that would be very comforting after a long day of school.
"Hmmm? Wha- why are you waking me up on a Sunday?" I was really tired from the night before. I had spent hours on the computer last night, talking to my friends.
