Stoned faith (sequel to - secrets are better off secret), chapter 5

"What!" I couldn't believe it when he told me.
I pushed past Tom and dashed to the living room.
Were sure enough, there lay Joey. A puddle of blood vomit next to his face. and a cut across his head.
Tom followed me in. I instantly knelt down beside him, I arched his head up wards and opened his mouth to clear his air ways. I put my ear up to his mouth, he wasn't breathing.

Tom just stood and watched. He was in a messed up state.

"Goddammit Tom! What happened!" I yelled angrily.
Tom bushed his hands threw his hair pacing up and down the room.
"I don't know... yesterday Jacob called, Joey was in trouble..." Tom stuttered. One word on top of the other. He had gone into complete panic mode.
"So I brought him here... he was sleeping on the couch. Then this morning I came in..." he paced up and down, up and down.
His eyes stuttering from side to side.
"My brother is gonna kill me!" he panicked.
"just tell me what happened!" I screeched. I slapped Joey gently on the cheek a few times.
"Come on Joe, wake up. Please! You have to wake up!" I pleaded.
"When I came in this morning he was shaking... going crazy like a seizure or something! His whole body..."
"how long ago did you call the ambulance?!" I questioned impatiently.
"I didn't!" Tom shot back at me
"Shit Tom! Call a fucking ambulance NOW!" I demanded.
Tom grabbed up the phone and dialed 911.

While he was doing that I desperately tried to wake Joey. He wouldn't wake.
His heart was still going, only just.
I had no idea how to revive him, mouth to mouth resuscitation?
My heart speed up, beads of sweat ran down my face. He wasn't waking. He wasn't moving.
How long can you last with out breathing?

Tom slammed down the phone. Continued to pace up and down. Brushing his hands threw his hair, in a distort manner.
"My brother's gonna kill me."
"What am I going to do?" he spoke quickly to himself.
What use was he, in his state of panic?

Time seemed to stand still.
It felt like each second grew longer and longer.
It was the LONGEST minutes of my life.
Then when the ambulance got there. I was pushed back out the way. As they brought in there medical emergency equipment, and began emergency procedures.
I listened in on what they were saying, half of it made no sense what so ever.

"Get the scaples, now!" One ordered. Quickly another one of them handed him what he asked for. I had seen them before, but only on TV.
The two iron-like things.
He rubbed them together. And called out "Clear!" he pressed them up against Joey's bare chest. His whole body jumped.
"We're losing him!" He called.
Then shouted out clear again.
Joey's body jumped. They got a slight reading on their machines. It only lasted for a brief couple of seconds.
"We have to operate!" He called.
"There's no time!" called another nurse in reply.
"We have to do it now!" he demanded. "Or we're gonna lose him!
