Vacation, chapter 1
*Mackie's POV*
"Mackie wake up!" my step-mom called. She was nice to me when my dad was around. But once she got remarried to my step-dad, she's been really bitchy and everything.
"Alright! Just 5 more minutes!" I hollered back.
"NO! Get up NOW!" she yelled at me furiously. As soon as she yelled at me, I didn't dare fight with her otherwise she'll have my step-dad get up here, and it's not always a pretty site. I rolled off my bed lazily and landed on the floor with a thud.
"Owww... " I moaned to myself while rubbing my head. Let me introduce myself, my name is Mackie and I am an 18 year-old girl. I have shoulder length dark brown hair with red highlights and hazel eyes. I'm 5'5"- one of the shortest out of my friends. I live in Florida, in a town where pretty much nothing happens.
My step-mom woke me up at 6:30 AM... little too early for summer vacation. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and got dressed. I put on a Green Day shirt, who is my favorite band, jeans, and my beat up black high top converse. I ran down the stairs and wondered what my mom needed now.
"You ready to go?" she asked me.
"For what?" I said a little annoyed that she got me up at 6:30 in the morning to go somewhere.
"To go to Maine!" she responded nastily since she knew I probably wasn't ready, packed or anything.
"Thanks for telling me the morning I'm leaving!" and with that I ran up to my room to get packed. I was going to Maine with my best friends - Maddie and Lauren.
I threw a bunch of clothes in my suitcase, packed up my guitar, packed up my laptop, got my wallet, my iPod, and cell phone as quick as I could and headed back downstairs.
"I'm all set now... " I said to my step-mom.
"Okay. Don't forget to pick Madison and Lauren up!" my mom responded after joining me in the foyer.
"I know I know! How could I forget about Maddie and Lauren anyway?" I said as I was heading out the door. "Tell everyone I said goodbye and I'll see them soon!" I dragged everything out to my car. I shoved everything in the back and hopped in the front seat. I waved goodbye to my mom and headed of to pick up my 2 best friends. Once I got to Lauren's house, I helped her put her stuff in the back and got back into the driver's seat as she got into the passenger's seat.
"FINALLY! We're going to Maine without our parents!" Lauren started bouncing up and down in the car.
"I know! I can't believe they let us go! Especially for the fact that we're going to go to college in August and it's our last summer with them!" I started to drive off to Maddie's house - which wasn't far from Lauren's house. Once again as I pulled into Maddie's driveway, I helped her put her stuff in the back and got in the driver's seat for the third time as she jumped into the backseat.
"Ah!" Maddie sighed peacefully. "I'm finally going to be away from them! And with my 2 best friends with no parents!"
"I feel the SAME way," Lauren and I said in unison. We all laughed as I drove to the airport where we would get the next flight out to Maine. We got to the airport, gave in our luggage, and went to go wait with the other passengers.
"I'm still asleep. I need coffee. Is there any place that sells coffee around here?" Maddie said while looking around. "Oh! Look! There's a Starbuck's over there! I'm gonna go get coffee!" she stood up and got money to go buy coffee to wake her up.
"I'll come too!" I said.
"I guess I'll come too!" Lauren sighed even though she wanted to come along. We all bought our coffee and headed back to our seats that we were had been sitting in earlier.
*2 hours later*
"Ugh! How much longer?" Maddie whined and as soon as she whined a person came on the loudspeaker announced, "Will flight 207 to Portland, Maine please board now."
"Is that us?" Lauren asked me. "I think so" I said while looking at the tickets, "Yep! That's our flight. Come on guys!" I stood up and motioned for them to follow me over to the gate. We boarded on the plane after standing 5 minutes in line listening to Maddie complain - which was actually quite funny. We sat down in our seats and the plane started to fly off to Maine. Maddie, Lauren and I were all cheering loudly until the flight attendant came over to us to ask us to quiet down.
