Those Damn Cheerios..., chapter 9
Tre had ran from Torry's house a few hours ago. He didn't tell her about sleeping with that girl at the bar. He didn't need to, she would find out sooner or later.
Tre dragged his shoes on the pavement, walking in some random neighborhood. He didn't really care though. He was headed off to the woods, a place where he could spend his time to himself. Nobody knew about his secret thinking place, at least he didn't think anybody did.
He turned a corner, and the woods started coming into view. He didn't want anyone to find him. Nobody. He wanted to be alone. He wanted to die. He had lost two friends, and a girlfriend, all in one night. And some other chick he had picked up at a bar could be pregnant or something. He didn't want to think about it, but he had to.
Billie had yelled at him, calling him pathetic, said he doesn't take responsibility for the things he does. That wasn't true, was it? Hopefully not...
Tre headed into the woods, his converses cracking twigs and crunching leaves as he moved around trees in the darkness. Then, the trees started thinning, coming into a large clearing. He had hit the heart of the woods.
He walked out into the clearing, and laid down on a large rock. Well, it was large for him. He crossed his arms over his chest and stared off into the stars. Then, he started to cry. Not very hard, but a few tears now and then.
There was no point to living anymore. Everything that had happened was his fault. His life had gone to Jerry Springer in a matter of seconds. He needed to leave this place, get out of town. Leave everything behind.
It was extremely silent out in that meadow. He could hear himself breathing, his cold heart beating. He hated himself. Nobody wanted him. Then one of their songs came to his head.
Nobody likes you
everyone left you
they're all out without you
having fun...
The song kept replaying in his mind, over and over again, it taunted him.
"What have I done to myself?" Tre asked the stars. (nobody else was around to listen) "Why did I do this?" Tre sighed, "I-I didn't... I didn't mean to... Why do I have to suffer?"
Then... a voice he had never heard before came into his mind, shattering all the bad things, "Tre... Why are you laying there like that? Your friends are out looking for you. Go find them, let them know you are all right...."
"I don't know... They left me! They don't care! They fucking hate me!" Tre's eyeliner had really smeared by then, he tried to wipe it off his face, but it just got smeared even worse.
The voice came back, "Don't lie to yourself... You know they care... Go to them... Go." The voice drifted away as quickly as it had come. Tre sat up. Confused.
He stared up at the sky, whispered a thank you, and headed back off to the woods.
