The story of year eight, chapter 1
'Another 'F' again, I fret, another cocky hypocrite, another dirty look from a passer by.'
My exact thoughts on going back to school. The first lyrics in the song "When I was a little girl," done by Pezz, A.K.A Billy Talent. And the song I woke up to on my mp3 player on the first day back to school. This year, I was in grade eight, and at the top grade in my school. I opened one eye to see that my room was still a pig stye, and knowing that I would probably get grounded for that, I closed my eye again. I heard the doorbell ring, though I dont know how, since my headphones were on to the top dial. I knew it was Racha and Natalie, come to drag me to prison. I felt the vibrations, and knew my door had been knocked on. I pushed my headphones further towards my ears, and ignored it, trying to pretend it was still summer.
"Krissy, get your ass up!" I heard Racha scream over my music.
She grabbed my head phones and my mp3, and turned it off.
"Hey!" I cried. "Not cool!"
"You can have it back when you're dressed," Racha said.
"Rachieeeee!" I whined.
"Natalie and I are waiting. And if you aren't up and dressed in ten minutes," She said in a threatening tone, "Me and Natalie and your mp3 player are outta here. Kay? Now get up!"
I hurled a pillow at her head. It missed and hit my door. Getting up, I hurriedly dressed in my favorite shirt (A black Green Day Tee shirt) covered that with a sweater, and put on my jeans that were cut about three inches below the knee. I put on my pink and black striped socks, and my new black converse.
Note the new. I lost my favorite shoe in a mosh pit at a concert. Now I only have one, and I'm keeping it forever.
I ran out of my room, Racha and Natalie standing at the door.
"Now GIVE!" I cried, grabbing for my mp3.
"No way," Racha said, moving her arm. "Brush your hair and teeth."
"Stop this torture!" I shouted. "Hey Nat."
Nat and I had been friends since kindergarden. Racha and I met last year. Nat waved and leaned against my door. Her mp3 player was blaring Simple Plan.
"HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!" I cried, and started to pretend to strip while singing Happy Birthday.
"Dude, hurry up!" Nat cried.
I sighed and brushed my long red hair. Putting on my black "Pure Metal" hat backwards, I decided I looked fine.
I observed my friends. Racha was in her usual- a white plain tee shirt and jeans, and Natalie was wearing a Simple Plan shirt and some blue pants.
"Okay, lets go," I said, eyeing Racha. "Niah!" I grabbed my mp3 player back.
As we approached the school, Tom and Emily came towards us. We've known Tom and Emily since kindergarden as well. Tom and Emily are ferternal twins.
"So you finally showed up. Krissy slept in again?" Tom guessed.
"Yah, so what?" I snapped.
"Well okay then, chuckles!" Emily said, stepping back.
Natalie took off her earphones and pointed.
"Here comes Sharmeen, dressed like a carpet." She rolled her eyes.
Sharmeen, who was short for her age, came up to us. She and Natalie were both really smart.
"Hey you guys!" She said. "So nice to be back, eh?"
"Yeah, joy," I said.
The six of us hung out for a while, when I saw Carlos coming up over the hill. I ran to him and tackled him to the ground, while Tom called me a psycho. Carlos was surprised, and shrieked like a girl.
"Dude!" I said between laughs. "You scream like a chick!"
"Krissy. Get. Off. Of. Me."
We both stood up and started acting 'gangster.'
"Whassup, my brotha from anotha motha?" I asked Carlos, which in reply got,
"Nothin much ma sista from anotha mista!"
"I'm so gangsta, I steal your pillow case!" I said. Carlos started laughing.
Carlos is Mexican. He was pretty cool. He taught me how to say stuff in Spanish. Racha's Lebanese. She teaches me some pretty cool stuff too. As soon as we were all caught up, we went over to the list, where it told you what teacher you had. There was only two grade eight teachers, so we had to be sure.
"Tom, Emily, Nat, and me are in a class. Carlos, you and Racha and Sharmeen are in another. Damnit!" I shouted. "Those jackass teachers did it on purpose."
"Kris, whatever. We still have classes together, just not home room!" Carlos explained.
I stared him down.
"Yeah, I figured."
The bell rang ten minutes later.
Here's a little background on me. I've moved about eight different places and been to a lot of different schools. My mom and dad have been divorced since I was about five or six. I have a 22 year old sister, Sarah, who went off to be a writer a year ago. She visits a lot. My brother will is 18, he's going into college. So my siblings are hardly home. My brother John moved in with my dad when I was twelve, last year. My mom's a nurse and works nights, so she sleeps in the day a lot. My step dad has diabetes, and has a lot of friends. I have a cat named Captain Jack. He's the coolest.
So I basically have the house to myself every day. That's when I chill with my friends, and laze around on the computer. I play piano and take vocal coaching.
Ever since I was ten I've wanted to see Green Day live, but I've never really gotten the chance. Anyways, on with the story.
The bell rang and we had picked our lockers, (All next to each other of course!) And were settled into our new desks. My first subject was science. Lucky me, I got the most annoying science teacher ever.
"And umm...this year in umm...science we'll...umm...be studying many different... things." My teacher droned on. I doodled on the side of my notebook. "And um... our first unit will be ummm... "
I couldnt help myself. I raised my hand.
"Yes...umm...Kris, is it?"
"Yes...um...uh...can I ummm...go to the...ummm washroom?" I asked slowly, as if I was talking to a kid.
"Excuse me? Are you mocking me?"
"No, I'm speeding up conversation."
"Do you want to go out in the hall, Miss Lauzon?"
"Talking to a wall would be more entertaining than this. Sure."
Tom and Natalie and Emily snickered.
"Find something amusing?" My teacher asked, before I left.
Tom laughed harder.
"You can go out too."
I sat out in the hall with Tom for a while, when a kid walked down the hallway, looking lost. He had brownish-red hair, and was about our age.
"Excuse me..." He said to us. "This is the science room, right?"
"Yes," I said. "Are you new?"
"Yeah!"
"Great. This is Tom, I'm Kris."
"Nice shirt," The kid said, eyeing my tee.
"Thanks, Green Day's the best."
"So do you think it's safe for me to go in there?"
"Run while you still have legs," Tom said. The kid snickered.
"So what's your name, kid?" I asked.
"Huh?" He turned to me again. "My name's Frankito. Frankito Wright."
