The story of year eight, chapter 3
Hah.
_____
Two days into school, and I was already getting sick of it. People hated me; people hated my friends. They even started throwing rocks at us; but, of course, Tom, and I, and Natalie picked up the rocks and threw them back. Nobody had found out Frankito's secret yet; in fact, he got made fun of a bit too, but since he was new, he got some sympathy. It was the end of the day, and I was in the office with Nat for punching some chick who had swung at ME first, then I punched her, and her friend punched Nat, and Nat punched back...and we started fighting. Oh yeah. We won.
"Now girls... " the Principal, Mr. Marquis said, "you shouldn't fight. It isn't lady-like, after all, and... "
"Sexist," I said loudly.
"You're right. Fine then. But what you did was wrong, and it was... "
"Uh, what are the words? There's two of them, Kris, can you help me out with it...umm, what are they...self defence?" Natalie said sarcastically.
"Yes, well... "
"Yeah, they started it; it isn't fair that we get in trouble, and they just get to go kiss ass somewhere else. Come on, be fair!"
"WILL YOU TWO BE QUIET?"
We shrunk down and let him talk.
"You are suspended for two days each."
"WHAT?" I cried. Natalie looked like she was going to explode.
When the principal left, we left too. We ignored the secretary screaming at us. Frankito, and Tom, and Emily, and Carlos, and Racha were waiting for us. Sharmeen had gone home with her brother.
"Quick, we gotta go!" I cried, grabbing Tom and Emily's hands. Natalie pushed Frankito and Carlos out, and Racha ran after us. As soon as we were out of distance of the school, we told them about our suspension. As we reached Frankito's house, we started complaining about it.
"This is retarded!" I cried. "He shouldn't be able to suspend us for something we didn't even start! It isn't fair!"
Frankito opened the door to his house and let us in. Tre was on the couch playing X-Box, with the phone against his ear. When he saw us, he told whoever it was that he had to go, and he dropped the controller and the phone. He jumped up on the couch and shouted, "Hey, how was school?"
"We got suspended," Nat said bluntly, and sank into the couch. "My mom's gonna kill me. She's gonna kill me! I'm dead!"
"I know...my mom'll be pissed. She's gonna ground me from band practice...AHH!" I plopped down next to Nat.
"Wait, you all got suspended? ALL of you?" Tre said.
"No, Dad," Frankito said, grabbing an apple and sitting down on the arm of the couch Nat and I were on, "Nat and Kris got suspended."
We explained the fight to him, and Tre told us he could pay the principal, but when we told him our principal didn't take bribes, he just told us, "That isn't fair. You're right."
"Hey, you guys have Grand Theft Auto!" Tom cried, and plugged in the game. Tom and I started playing, and when he beat me, and I had to finish the race, I just turned my car around and started driving backwards through traffic.
"WHOO!" I shouted, really pissed off and crashing into cars.
"Well I have to go, my mom's going to blow a fuse," Nat said, grabbing her stuff and leaving. Tom and Emily left as well, and Carlos and I just sat there, watching Racha gather her stuff and go.
Frankito, and Carlos, and I decided to call my mom. My mom, luckily, didn't have a problem with my suspension. She said my principal was a dickhead who had no idea what he was doing in the teaching field. Natalie's mom had called her and decided that they were free to do what they wanted during the suspension, since it wasn't their fault. I celebrated by beating Carlos in a race, and then we decided to hang out at the mall.
"Want me to drive you guys there?" Tre asked.
Frankito and Carlos agreed, where as I didn't care. The drive was quiet, but when we got there we had some fun.
"Kay, come on, I have a fun line of ideas."
"Kris, we're not going to... "
Carlos glanced warily at the glass elevator. I grinned and rubbed my hands together. I got into the glass elevator, and Frankito and Carlos waited at the bottom of the stairs, waiting for it to go down. Halfway through the ride, they saw me pounding on the walls, curl up into a ball, and shake while pretending to be claustrophobic. The people inside the elevator with me were wondering what to do and looking around nervously. When I looked at Carlos and Frankito, they were laughing their asses off.
When we go to the bottom, I just stood up and ran out fast, waving. Frankito was laughing so hard, he was snorting. We went into the dollar store.
"Okay, even two. Just keep bringing stuff to the counter clerk and ask her how much it is." I grinned.
"But...everything in here is a...ohhhh." Frankito also grinned.
So for about ten minutes, we annoyed the counter clerk. Finally she exploded and started screaming, "EVERYTHING IN THIS STORE IS A DOLLAR! HEAR IT? A DOLLAR!"
I blinked. "Okay, so ship it to my house. Here's your dollar. Does shipping cost extra?"
The girl looked at me like she was going to kill. I laughed and grabbed a packet of gum, and bought that instead. Frankito, and Carlos, and I left and sat on the kiddy rides outside of the store.
"Hey Carlos, do you wanna ride the kiddy ride? I got a dollar, you wanna ride?"
Carlos started laughing as I put the dollar in and watched him sit there. Some kids were looking at us nervously.
When the ride ended, some old lady said to her kid, "And that's how you shouldn't act when you're an adult. Okay?" Her kid looked at us like we were crazy.
I pointed to the old lady and said rather loudly, "And Frankito, that's how you shouldn't act when your going through menopause, okay?" The lady looked at me angrily and walked away.
"Kris...can I borrow a dollar?" Carlos asked.
"Only if you beg."
Carlos grinned.
"I have a better idea."
He started tickling me, and Frankito joined; I screamed and ran away, by accident I fell into the fountain. Carlos started laughing, as did Frankito.
"Oh, you think that's funny, do you?"
I pulled Carlos in after me. Frankito, surprised, felt Carlos grab his shirt. Soon we were having a splashing contest, and were all wet and laughing our asses off. The mall security came down and grabbed us by the shirts, dragging us out of the mall.
"Well, that was fun," Frankito said. "Do you guys really do this every day for a pastime or something?"
"When we can afford the bus."
"So what next?" Carlos said. He was dripping on the pavement. Frankito went to call his dad.
When Tre's car rolled up to us; the first thing Tre did was laugh his ass off. Then he asked us what happened, and we told him. We decided to go to the movies next, after we got dry and changed.
All that day I had been thinking about the song I wrote. All that day, I was making notes and lyrics in my head.
